EU and US turn up the heat on Elon Musk over Twitter

People do not understand that Twitter is a global business with footprints all around the world through various jurisdictions and regulations. What's okay here in the U.S. may not be the case in other countries. This is why Twitter hired so many people to comply with of all these rules.

Elon Musk is under renewed pressure from the US and EU over his ownership of Twitter, as regulators clamp down on the billionaire’s push to transform the social network into a freewheeling haven of free speech.

The European Commission on Wednesday threatened Musk with a ban unless Twitter abides by strict content moderation rules, as US Treasury secretary Janet Yellen indicated that Washington was reviewing his purchase of the social network.

Dear New York city employers looking for employees...

If you require a college degree, five years working experience in the field, and strong technical skills (well above the standard MS Office skills), then offer a NYC experienced professional's wage which is currently at $125K per year.

If you want to pay less than that, then you're going to have to lower your requirements accordingly.

I've been a hiring manager in NYC since 2005. I know how difficult it is to find candidates even when you offer the experienced professional's wage. Anything less guarantees that you hire someone that you have to train vigorously in order to get them up to speed.
If you want someone that can be plugged into your current system with little to no additional training, then offer a NYC experienced professional's wage.

How did I come up with $125K? Take the average price of a studio apartment in the tri-state area, $3500, multiply it by 12 then multiply it by 3. That's roughly the salary you need to in order to rent an apartment in the tri-state area. People making less than that will need some sort of housing subsidy, e.g. living with roommates, second income to a spouse, parents, rent controlled, or some sort of govt. housing subsidy.

So, please stop wasting everyone's time with your offer of $90K.Thank you.

Ben Shapiro and Kanye are going at it in a Trump-DeSantis proxy fight

Kanye accuses Ben of being in the bag for DeSantis bc of a $100K donation from DeSantis to Daily Wire. Shapiro attacks Kanye for being an anti-Semite.

As for me, I am loving every minute of this. Fight. Fight. Fight. Rats in a wet bag!

Nemik's Manifesto (Andor)

November 26, 2022

The Great Places Erased by Suburbia (the Third Place). (We're becoming Anti-Social.)

Here in the U.S., we're becoming more and more isolated and anti-social. We're losing spaces for social human interaction. We drive to work. We watch streaming on big TVs at home. We drive to the grocery store, and then nothing else. We're losing our ability to have in-person social meetings. Lack of human socialization is a mental health crisis.

Toronto's Curbside Patios Made 49 Times More Money Than the Parking They Replaced

A recent study on curbside dining in Toronto found that there are loads of financial possibilities waiting in empty parking spaces.

During the pandemic, Toronto, like many cities, began allowing some on-street parking spaces to be used as patios by local businesses. As reported by The Globe and Mail, residents spent a total of $181 million at curbside patios within 13 weeks of summer in 2021. If those spaces had remained dedicated to parking, only $3.7 million would have been reaped during the same time period. In other words, curbside patios produced 49 times more revenue than what would have been earned from parking fees.

I'm now convinced that Elon is deliberately killing Twitter.

Everything he's done so far is performative and does nothing to solve Twitter's real problem, a poor business model. My guess is that he was always going to take Twitter into bankruptcy from the very start.
