I will NOT be giving any financial support to Mark Kelly (AZ-SEN)...

...because he doesn't need it.

Per the FEC, he has raised $31.3 M and has $20 M cash on hand (twice as much as Martha McSally)

Inslee condemns Trump's tweets to 'LIBERATE' states

Source: Seattle Times

President Donald Trump fired off a series of tweets earlier today urging supporters to "LIBERATE" Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia, and to "save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!" People have begun protesting stay-at-home orders in those three states. His tweets directly conflict with the plan the White House issued the day before giving guidelines on how states can safely reopen their economies.

Gov. Jay Inslee responded in a statement, "The president’s statements this morning encourage illegal and dangerous acts. He is putting millions of people in danger of contracting COVID-19."

Inslee said such encouragement could lead to violence. "The president is fomenting domestic rebellion and spreading lies even while his own administration says the virus is real and is deadly, and that we have a long way to go before restrictions can be lifted."

"The president’s call to action today threatens to undermine his own goal of recovery by further delaying the ability of states to amend current interventions in a safe, evidence-based way."

Bernie Sanders thinks the media cost him the nomination

CNN

(CNN)In an interview with CNN's Ryan Nobles reflecting on his 2020 presidential bid, Bernie Sanders makes clear that he's still holding something of a grudge -- against the media.

Here's the key bit:

"I think what we saw from Nevada on out was a cry from the rooftops, from the political establishment, from the media that they wanted anybody but Bernie. Anybody but Bernie! My God, I don't know how many articles they were about, we need anybody but Bernie and, you know, they ended up succeeding. And that's that."

NASA to launch astronauts from US soil for the first time in nearly a decade with help from SpaceX

Source: CNBC

NASA and SpaceX are targeting May 27 for the launch of Demo-2, the first launch of NASA astronauts from the U.S. since 2011 and the first crewed launch for Elon Musk’s space company.

Demo-2 is set to liftoff at 4:32 p.m. EDT from launchpad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will be on board, strapped into a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule sitting on top of a Falcon 9 rocket.

As its name implies, Demo-2 will be the second time SpaceX launches its Crew Dragon capsule to the International Space Station. But, unlike Demo-1 last year, this time two astronauts will be on board.

Louisiana pastor asks followers to send their stimulus checks to churches instead of buying food

RawStory

Tony Spell, the pastor at the Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana, believes his fellow pastors need your COVID-19 stimulus money more than you do.

TMZ reports that Spell has started a campaign called “#PastorSpellStimulusChallenge” in which followers are encouraged to send money they’ve received from the government as part of the federal stimulus package to evangelists and missionaries.

Spell claims that he and his wife are both donating their personal checks to churches in need instead of using it to pay for food, although he did not initially offer proof of doing so.

“His challenge also doesn’t seem to consider many people are in desperate need of their stimulus money for food, rent or bills,” notes TMZ.

Before you criticize him, consider that he's also keeping his Church open in defiance of State rules, so he needs to get the cash now before the congregation dies off...

Member of Life Tabernacle Church dies of COVID-19, records say

CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - An elderly member of Life Tabernacle Church in Central, La. has died of the novel coronavirus, according to a coroner’s report.

Tony Spell, the controversial pastor of that church, disputes the coroner’s findings, saying the man died of another medical condition.

“That is a lie,” Spell said of the coroner’s findings when reached by phone Thursday.

Inside Trump's plan to reopen the American economy

Source: ABC News

The guidelines, obtained by ABC News, are broken up into three phases, and governors were instructed they could move through the guidelines at their own pace and that they are not orders from the government, according to a person familiar with call.

"Phase one" calls on employers to telework where possible, return to work in phases, minimize non-essential travel and make accommodations for the vulnerable populations within the workforce. It calls on all vulnerable individuals to "shelter in place," and when in public, all individuals should continue social distancing.

In "phase two," non-essential travel for employers can resume. Schools and organized youth activity can reopen. Bars, gyms and large venues can reopen with proper social distancing measures in places. Churches can open with social distancing. Elective surgeries can resume.

The third phase says bars, gyms and large venues can reopen with limited social distancing and proper sanitation.

New York and other East Coast states extend shutdown of nonessential businesses to May 15

Source: CNBC

New York and other East Coast states are extending their shutdown of nonessential businesses to May 15 as officials grapple with how to reopen parts of the economy without leading to a resurgence in coronavirus cases, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Cuomo announced the news at a press conference in Albany and via Twitter, saying “New York on PAUSE” will be extended in coordination with other states.

“We have to continue doing what we’re doing. I’d like to see that infection rate get down even more. The New York Pause policies, the close-down policies, will be extended in coordination with other states to May 15,” Cuomo said. The lockdown was previously scheduled to lift on April 30.

He reiterated his plans to work with other governors on a coordinated plan to gradually reopen commerce in the region. Cuomo is leading a working group of seven governors from the Northeast, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Delaware, who are coordinating their response to the pandemic.
