Gee. I don't recall treating other DUers like I've been treated on this thread.

Ever. All the personal attacks for expressing the thought that crop circles are a fascinating phenomena.

Certainly some, if not most, are man-made. Some, however, have no plausible explanation. For instance:

Eye witness to the formation of a crop circle opposite Stonehenge.

Posted October 15, 2009
By Colin Andrews

In July of 1996 one of the most complex and spectacular crop circle designs ever
seen appeared in a field opposite Stonehenge. The design became known as “The
Julia Set” because it resembled the mathematical fractal called by that name. The
formation was remarkable not only because of its complexity and beauty but also
due to several anomalies associated with its discovery.

It arrived in daylight on a sunny day opposite a busy tourist spot surrounded by high
traffic roads such as the A303. What is exceptional about this event is that it is the
first time the window of arrival can be narrowed down.

SNIP...

Lucy writes, “She mentioned that when people see maybe two cars or more pulled in
and looking down into the field, other cars stop and gradually the traffic builds up
and more and more cars draw in to have a look.” What the group saw is described:
“There was an apparition, an isolated mist over it (the formation) and as the circle
was getting bigger the mist was rising above the circle. As the mist rose it got bigger
and the corn circle got bigger. There was a mist was about 2-3 feet off the ground
and it was sort of spinning around and on the ground a circular shape was
appearing which seemed to get bigger and bigger as simultaneously the mist gets
bigger and bigger and swirled faster. It was gradual and you are standing there and
you are thinking what is going on and everyone is discussing it and more and more
traffic is building up and everything and you just think that all the time you don't
really realise what is happening and then you think then that's it and the thing is
getting bigger and you are thinking of the beginning and end. But you don't realise
what you are looking at. I didn’t understand what was happening.”

Lucy continues in her report to say that there was a clear space between the
ground and the mist as the crop circle formed and there was no wind or dust.

Lucy’s witness reports that the event took about 20 minutes to form although they
can’t be sure because they lost track of time. When they left the mist was still there
and they can’t be sure the formation wasn’t still expanding. It may have taken more
than 20 minutes to create.

As for flat earth, why the need to smear me?

FWIW: I've met and spoken with several astronauts. How many have you met, NuclearDem?

That's the difference between the Howard Dean and Rahm Emanuel schools.

Dean led the fight in all 50 states. Emanuel picked the races that made the most sense.

Dean's approach won the House and strengthened the Senate, delivering majorities for President Obama to work with in 2009.

Looking back, it's interesting to see how what was done with the unusual opportunity for meaningful change, from ending wars to prosecuting banksters to raising taxes on the wealthy to universal healthcare to the New Deal for the 21st Century.

COINTELPRO ties in with Dallas and Nov. 22, 1963...

FBI was doing its COINTELPRO thing on one Lee Harvey Oswald:

The JFK connection: Why COINTELPRO still matters

Jefferson Morley
JFKfacts.org, Jan. 7, 2014

EXCERPT...

Remember that COINTELPRO is short for “Counterintelligence Program.”

Remember that the Counterintelligence Staff, headed by James Angleton, was the component of the CIA that tracked Lee Harvey Oswald closely from October 1959 to November 1963.

As historian David Kaiser revealed in his deeply researched book “The Road to Dallas,” COINTELPRO targeted the pro-Castro Fair Play for Cuba Committee for disruption and discrediting in the summer of 1963. At the time Lee Harvey Oswald was founding his own chapter of the FPCC in New Orleans — over the written objections of the FPCC’s leadership.

As Bill Simpich documents in his revelatory and important ebook, “State Secret,” the FBI and the CIA’s counterintelligence staff worked together on a program to discredit the FPCC 1963 throughout the fall of 1963.

Here’s the CIA’s Sept. 16, 1963 memo to the FBI about the operation to discredit the FPCC “in foreign countries.”

http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?mode=searchResult&absPageId=377132

The author of the memo, John Tilton, was a supervisor of George Joannides, the Miami-based undercover officer whose paid assets in the Cuban Student Directorate (DRE) publicized and denounced Oswald’s pro-Castro activities in New Orleans in August 1963.

Eleven days after Tilton wrote his memo, a man identifying himself as Lee Harvey Oswald appeared at the Cuban Consulate in Mexico City applying for a visa to travel to Cuba. He gave his self-made FPCC membership card as part of his visa application. Officials in the Cuban Embassy were suspicious of Oswald and rejected his application.

After JFK was killed, Joannides’s assets in the Cuban Student Directorate published the first JFK conspiracy theory linking Oswald to Castro. The group cited Oswald’s FPCC activities in New Orleans as evidence.

After Oswald was killed in police custody, the White House and the FBI moved to convince the public Oswald was the sole assassin.

At the CIA, Angleton killed John Whitten’s efforts to investigate Oswald’s Cuban contacts.

The wishes of the CIA and FBI came true. The FPCC disbanded on December 27, 1963, its name forever tainted by the linkage to the accused assassin.

As Simpich notes correctly, “Counterintelligence is the hidden heart of the story…”

And we first learned about COINTELPRO thanks to the people who came forward today.

I can't remember Poppy saying -- let alone doing -- much for anyone, except a son or crony.

Let us compare the perspectives of two "Elitists."

First, John Fitzgerald Kennedy spoke in his inaugural of a future where humanity could work together in peace to fight "the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself."

Second, George Herbert Walker Bush said in his inaugural address that our nation has "more will than wallet" and shouldn't even try (of course, later, he would find all the money needed to bail out the S&Ls his son Neil and their cronies had looted).

What's even more troubling, we went from a nation that believed every human life has equal value to an empire where, as Poppy's dim noted when he "served" in the Oval Office, "Money trumps peace." That's not just un-American. That's Nazi.

How the Elite Talk in Code

It's almost an ENIGMA, what the rich and powerful say. It's to hide what they do.

Case in point: One Neil Mallon Pierce Bush, son of then-president George Herbert Walker Bush and caught with his hand in a billion-dollar S&L cookie jar called Silverado Savings & Loan. Here's what Poppy did for his Number 3 Son:

How the Elite Talk in Code

EXCERPT...

A perfect example of code talk comes from a true master insider, George H.W. Bush, when his son, Neil, was caught red handed in the middle of the S&L crisis as a director of Sliverado Bank.

Did Bush lay out his cards and call in his operatives and say pull some strings, get my son out of this investigation (Remember Bush was president at the time.) No. Bush is too smooth. In his published collection of letters, All The Best, George Bush, he shows us how the heat is delicately taken off Neil. On page 449, there is this letter to Thomas Ludlow Ashley.

Ashley is a Yale University grad, and member of the secret society Skull and Bones along with Bush. Here's the letter:

The Honorable Thomas Ludlow Ashley
Association of Bank Holding Companies
Washington, D.C. 20005

Dear Lud,

Thank you for your good memo December 8th.

I would appreciate any help you can give Neil. He tells me he never had any insider dealings. He got off the Board early--long before I was elected President. The Denver paper apparently ran a very nice editorial about him on that. He is an outside director, and thus I guess has liability, but I can't believe his name would appear in the paper if it was Jones not Bush. In any event, I know that the guy is totally honest. I saw him in Denver and I think he is worried about the publicity and the "shame". I tell him not to worry about that but any advice you can give as this matter unfolds would be greatly appreciated by me. If it turns out there has been some marginal call, or he has done something wrong, needless to say there will be no intervention from his dad. But, I'm quite confident this is not true...

Warm regards,

George

Notice how smooth. No talk about getting Ashley anything for taking care of the matter. The nice touch about if Neil "has done something wrong", but the clear finish, he didn't.

When it comes to money and power, it really is a small world. We'd hear it more often, if only we were privy to the conversation.

When it comes to democracy, justice and freedom, We the People should be in on the discussion. And we should be fully informed. That leads the nation to make sound decisions.

What's NEVER on TV: The Last Gasp of American Democracy

From Chris Hedges, a must-read and must-share:

The Last Gasp of American Democracy

By Chris Hedges
TruthDig.org, Posted on Jan 5, 2014

EXCERPT...

The most radical evil, as Hannah Arendt pointed out, is the political system that effectively crushes its marginalized and harassed opponents and, through fear and the obliteration of privacy, incapacitates everyone else. Our system of mass surveillance is the machine by which this radical evil will be activated. If we do not immediately dismantle the security and surveillance apparatus, there will be no investigative journalism or judicial oversight to address abuse of power. There will be no organized dissent. There will be no independent thought. Criticisms, however tepid, will be treated as acts of subversion. And the security apparatus will blanket the body politic like black mold until even the banal and ridiculous become concerns of national security.

I saw evil of this kind as a reporter in the Stasi state of East Germany. I was followed by men, invariably with crew cuts and wearing leather jackets, whom I presumed to be agents of the Stasi—the Ministry for State Security, which the ruling Communist Party described as the “shield and sword” of the nation. People I interviewed were visited by Stasi agents soon after I left their homes. My phone was bugged. Some of those I worked with were pressured to become informants. Fear hung like icicles over every conversation.

The Stasi did not set up massive death camps and gulags. It did not have to. The Stasi, with a network of as many as 2 million informants in a country of 17 million, was everywhere. There were 102,000 secret police officers employed full time to monitor the population—one for every 166 East Germans. The Nazis broke bones; the Stasi broke souls. The East German government pioneered the psychological deconstruction that torturers and interrogators in America’s black sites, and within our prison system, have honed to a gruesome perfection.

The goal of wholesale surveillance, as Arendt wrote in “The Origins of Totalitarianism,” is not, in the end, to discover crimes, “but to be on hand when the government decides to arrest a certain category of the population.” And because Americans’ emails, phone conversations, Web searches and geographical movements are recorded and stored in perpetuity in government databases, there will be more than enough “evidence” to seize us should the state deem it necessary. This information waits like a deadly virus inside government vaults to be turned against us. It does not matter how trivial or innocent that information is. In totalitarian states, justice, like truth, is irrelevant.

The object of efficient totalitarian states, as George Orwell understood, is to create a climate in which people do not think of rebelling, a climate in which government killing and torture are used against only a handful of unmanageable renegades. The totalitarian state achieves this control, Arendt wrote, by systematically crushing human spontaneity, and by extension human freedom. It ceaselessly peddles fear to keep a population traumatized and immobilized. It turns the courts, along with legislative bodies, into mechanisms to legalize the crimes of state.

Not on TV much if at all: NSA Admits to Spying On Congress

NSA Spying Enables War Party to Blackmail Congress

The NSA Is Spying On Our Elected Representatives

Posted on January 4, 2014 by WashingtonsBlog

After Senator Bernie Sanders asked the NSA whether it spied on members of congress, the NSA responded:

NSA’s authorities to collect signals intelligence data include procedures that protect the privacy of US persons. Such protections are built into and cut across the entire process. Members of Congress have the same privacy protections as all US persons. NSA is fully committed to transparency with Congress. Our interaction with Congress has been extensive both before and since the media disclosures began last June.

In other words: yes, we spy on members of Congress, just like all other Americans.

SNIP...

The Bigger Question: What Is NSA Doing With the Info?

But the bigger question is what the NSA does with that information. Remember, the Guardian reported in September that not only might the NSA be collecting information on Congress, but that it was sharing unfiltered information with a foreign nation … Israel:

The National Security Agency routinely shares raw intelligence data with Israel without first sifting it to remove information about US citizens, a top-secret document provided to the Guardian by whistleblower Edward Snowden reveals.

***

According to the agreement, the intelligence being shared would not be filtered in advance by NSA analysts to remove US communications. “NSA routinely sends ISNU [the Israeli Sigint National Unit] minimized and unminimized raw collection”, it says.

***

A much stricter rule was set for US government communications found in the raw intelligence. The Israelis were required to “destroy upon recognition” any communication “that is either to or from an official of the US government“. Such communications included those of “officials of the executive branch (including the White House, cabinet departments, and independent agencies), the US House of Representatives and Senate (member and staff) and the US federal court system (including, but not limited to, the supreme court)”.

In reality, there is quite a bit of evidence that NSA is using information gained through spying to blackmail Congress.
