Tamir Rice was a 12 year old boy murdered by police officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback while playing with a toy gun at a recreation park near his home, in Cleveland Ohio. Video released shows officer Loehmann fire two shots at Tamir within seconds of the officer’s arrival; before the car came to a complete stop (video below). After the encounter neither Loehmann nor Garmback administered first aid and Tamir subsequently died the next day. Over a YEAR later with many delays as well as a corrupt prosecutor there is still no justice for Tamir - neither officer has been CHARGED with Tamir's murder.

- A recommendation of criminal charges against the officers to the grand jury by Prosecutor McGinty OR McGinty's recusal and appointment of a special prosecutor.

Statement from the Lawyers of Tamir's Family
In a statement released immediately after the announcement of no indictment, lawyers for Tamir's family said they were "saddened and disappointed" by the outcome, but not surprised. The family also renewed their calls for the Justice Department to make an independent investigation into the case.
“It has been clear for months now that Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty was abusing and manipulating the grand jury process to orchestrate a vote against indictment,” the family attorneys said in the statement. “Even though video shows the police shooting Tamir in less than one second, Prosecutor McGinty hired so-called expert witnesses to try to exonerate the officers and tell the grand jury their conduct was reasonable and justified. It is unheard of, and highly improper, for a prosecutor to hire 'experts' to try to exonerate the targets of a grand jury investigation.”

Tamir Rice Family Attorneys: Prosecutor ‘Was Abusing and Manipulating’ Grand Jury Process
Prosecutor McGinty allowed the police officers to take the oath and read prepared statements to the grand jury without answering any questions on cross-examination. Even though it is black letter law that taking the stand waives the Fifth Amendment right to be silent, the prosecutor did not seek a court order compelling the officers to answer questions or holding the officers in contempt if they continued to refuse…
The way Prosecutor McGinty has mishandled the grand jury process has compounded the grief of this family.
They conclude by asking the DOJ to conduct a “real investigation” into the shooting.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has appeared to take a new position on US wages.
After previously saying wages were "too high," Trump instead stressed Monday that they were actually "too low."
In the Monday-morning tweet, Trump also said that good jobs were "too few" and that people had "lost faith in our leaders."

Bernie sanders makes several stops through Reno Sunday afternoon, introducing his platform as Nevadans prepare for the caucuses in February. The senator sits down with KOLO 8 NewsNow's Catherine Van in an exclusive interview with how he plans to help Nevadans if he gets elected.
From the big public rally, to the smaller gatherings with local unions and seniors, Senator Bernie Sanders is greeted with one packed house to the next.
"Here in Reno, we see a lot of young people and I think what we've seen all over the country is a lot of excitement among young people and I'm very proud of that," he said.
Many of the supporters were young people who want to know if their education is paying off, something sanders says needs to be re-emphasized in Nevada, which is a state that's consistently ranked dead last for its efforts. Sanders proposes to revolutionize education and make public universities and colleges free.

Skip a Letter to Santa, I'm Writing to Bernie Sanders
It’s Christmas holiday season and until today I pretty much was in the spirit. I baked and made appetizer tortes for the family gathering. I tried my hand at making colorful pomegranate martinis (and I drank quite a few). It was great until I got the mail and information about our new medicare advantage plan and being penalized because neither my husband nor I need expensive medications. We have to pay a penalty of nearly thirty bucks a month! Bernie Sanders, please get elected and get national medical coverage started in this backwards country, the United States of America. The only “civilized”, industrial leader not providing citizens with health care! Dear Bernie, please do something about medicare and social security benefits. How did our congress vote to give themselves a cost of living raise and not provide for seniors?
I know about the cost of gas business but that makes no sense for seniors. Food prices go up and medication costs go up. Those things matter to seniors but gas prices! I use public transportation.

Despite working fairly decent jobs for a few years none of my employers had to pay me retirement. My husband has a similar story. We are reduced to social security benefits. We had medicare parts A and B but apparently we didn’t sign up for D and so even though our combined prescription needs are less than $20 per month we should have signed up for medication benefits. Since we didn’t, we now have a penalty. Does this make any sense at all????
Now in addition to medicare being deducted we get another deduction for not needing medication. Please Bernie make the wealthy pay their taxes. Stop this country from penalizing the less fortunate and dooming us retirees to subsistence living. We worked but just don’t make enough from social security to have even a marginally comfortable retirement. Forget living in a retirement community with a golf course. We can’t afford food or needed prescriptions.

Reno Gazette-Journal goes one-on-one with Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is adamant he can win the Nevada Democratic Caucus.
The Vermont senator said in an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal on Sunday he is very enthusiastic about the growth of his campaign both nationally and in Nevada. In recent months, he’s opened several offices around the state, brought in paid staff and started airing advertisements on radio and television, all of which he said will contribute to a victory in the Feb. 20 caucus.
“The bottom line is I think we have the message, I think we now have the organization, I think we have the volunteer base to do what needs to be done,” he said. “Add all that together and I think we can win.”
But Sanders added he still has a lot of ground to gain against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Clinton has been in the state much longer and has a vast network of volunteers and staff.

2,000 pack Reno Ballroom to hear Sen. Bernie Sanders
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders returned to Reno on Sunday to spread his populist message as the campaign increases its presence in Nevada.
The Vermont senator held several events throughout the day including speaking to union leaders in Sparks, a meeting with seniors, a meeting with rural voters Sunday evening and a rally at the Reno Ballroom that drew around 2,000 people.
“Right wing republicans win elections when people don’t vote, when they turn off from politics,” he said. “Progressives win when there is a large voter turnout and when people know what’s going on.”
The crowd was excited for Sanders’ message, which calls for taxing the wealthy, increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour, single-payer healthcare, free tuition at public universities and a major criminal justice system overhaul amongst other reforms.
