Mayberry Machiavelli's JournalQuestion: re putting HDD from old laptop into new, identically configured laptop.
My situation - I had a laptop that got physically damaged beyond repair. I think the HDD and RAM sticks may still be intact and recovered them.
Let's assume for the moment that the HDD is intact and functioning.
I've been looking at purchasing the exact same model of laptop from eBay as a replacement, same CPU/RAM/motherboard/GPU configuration, same everything.
If I bought the replacement, verified it was working, then swapped out the HDDs, I'd assume it would boot up with all my old software and data.
The key question is, would I have an issue with the Windows authorization for updates and support since it would be a different CPU ID than the old computer? Is there a way around this?
Need Help re: picture viewing while web browsing (works in IE and Chrome but not Firefox)
There was a picture slideshow presentation on The Washington Post's website that I was unable to view in Firefox but worked in both Internet Explorer and Chrome. Here is the link to the slideshow:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/goingoutguide/40-dishes-every-washingtonian-must-try/2011/12/23/gIQA9KRbOP_gallery.html?fb_ref=NetworkNews
In Firefox, the page comes up for the first slide, with its caption, but there is no picture and the link to advance to the next slide does nothing.
Is it a setting in Firefox options to enable Flash/Java etc. that I need to change? Youtube video viewing works fine in Firefox. Is there a plugin or addon that I need?
Thanks in advance.
