n2doc's JournalOregon Militia member loses mind, challenges Chris Christie to sumo wrestling match
Things are getting a little weird at the Malheur National Wildlife Preserve. One of the militia members donned an improvised mawashi and filmed himself challenging failing presidential candidate Chris Christie to a sumo wrestling match.
New militia member Kelly Gneitling uploaded the video to YouTube in response to Christies comments stating that law enforcement should end the Oregon standoff. He calls himself the governors older brother, referring to him as little Chrissy, and says that he wants to see who the real sissy is.
You know what I want to see? I want to see you come over here and disperse me, your older brother, in the dojo, Gneitling said. Woo-hoo, little Christie!
Lets go to war over the constitution, and for mommas love, he added.
He then outlines the challenge. If Christie can win one of 10 matches, the whole militia will leave. Seems promising!
Bring that big ol belly over here, and lets slap bellies. Im talking about 10 bouts. You win one out of those 10, and me and these other good, constitutional folk
well disperse, he said. But if I win all 10, I get to roll you down the stairs in that sleeping bag again.

A remarkably moving thing happened at a Bernie Sanders rally today in Iowa
Bernie Sanders did a town hall event Monday morning in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He asked the crowd for testimonials about the difficulties of sustaining a life off of $12,000 a year.
What happened next is both hard to watch/listen to and important. A woman is called on and she emotionally tells the story of her life -- minimum wage jobs despite a degree, on disability and living with her parents. Here's a snippet of what she said:
Its so hard to do anything to pay your bills, youre ashamed all the time...when you cant buy presents for your children its really really really hard and I work 3, 4, 5 jobs sometimes, always minimum wage, I have a degree, divorced and its just Im waiting for disability to come through so my parents have to support me its just hard.
Sanders thanked her and the crowd applauded. Then he said this: "It is not easy for people to stand up and say that but the truth is that until millions of people who are experiencing what youre experiencing do say that we dont make change."

Top Sanders surrogate fires back at Obama
By NICK GASS 01/25/16 12:42 PM EST
One of Bernie Sanders' top advisers fired back at President Barack Obama's remarks about the state of the 2016 presidential race, saying that the president's characterization to POLITICO that Hillary Clinton stands at a disadvantage in contrast to a "bright, shiny object that people ... haven't seen before" sounds awfully familiar.
"Well, I think thats the parallel to his own journey eight years ago, and I was actually supporting him then, that he offered hope," senior campaign adviser Larry Cohen, a former labor leader, told CNN. "And I think Bernie and actually all of the Democratic candidates are about a positive vision of the future. Bernies is about change, not just continuity in the similar way that then-Senator Obama was talking about change. And Bernies talking about, why cant we have higher education that doesnt leave our kids burdened with ridiculous debt? And why cant we have Medicare for all? And why cant we, even though the path would be difficult, imagine a country where people are working and theyre looking forward to a better America."
Cohen remarked that in selecting her as secretary of state, the president "made a political decision after that election to unite with that part of the Democratic Party."
"And I would say to him, with all due respect, Mr. President, the same kind of change that you had hoped to work for, Bernie is trying to continue on that path, not go back to the 1990s of President Clinton," he said.

Zing!
The billionaires would get their asses kicked by a socialist
by SEAN ILLING
The billionaire former mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is considering a presidential run in 2016. According to the New York Times, the business magnate already has his advisers laying out plans for an independent campaign. Alexander Burns and Maggie Haberman write: Bloomberg is galled by Donald Trumps dominance of the Republican field, and troubled by Hillary Clintons stumbles and the rise of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the Democratic side.
The political class seems to think a race between Trump or Cruz on one side and Sanders on the other would be uniquely hospitable to an indepenent like Bloomberg. And indeed some establishment Democrats would likely support Bloomberg over Sanders, if it came to that. Ed Rendell, the former governor of Pennsylvania and DNC chairman (also a longtime Clinton ally), summed up what I imagine is a common sentiment among party insiders: Mike Bloomberg for president rests on the not-impossible but somewhat unlikely circumstance of either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz versus Bernie Sanders. If Hillary wins the nomination, Hillary is mainstream enough that Mike would have no chance, and Mikes not going to go on a suicide mission. Revealingly, Rendell added that he would be open to backing Bloomberg in such a circumstance: As a lifelong Democrat, as a former party chairman, it would be very hard for me to do that. But I would certainly take a look at it absolutely.
This attitude on the left is part of the problem, and proves the Democratic establishment has yet to understand what Bernie Sanders is doing. Bernies campaign is trying to redefine what constitutes the mainstream. If Clinton or Bloomberg or Rubio or Bush is mainstream today, its because of a lack of voter participation, because the majority of the country doesnt vote. Sanders understands this, and his campaign aims to energize a restless majority, whose interests arent reflected in the Washington consensus.

J. K. Rowling "Death Eaters Walk Among Us"
British author J.K. Rowling, best known for her "Harry Potter" book series, weighed in on American politics Sunday, tweeting out a response to a controversial comment made by Katrina Pierson, the campaign spokeswoman for GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
Pierson sent out this tweet in 2012, which has been gaining traction on social media channels this week:
Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) January 20, 2012
Early Sunday morning, Rowling linked to Pierson's comment in her own tweet and seemed to suggest that the Trump spokeswoman was a "Death Eater."
The popular children's book author was invoking villains from her Harry Potter series -- "Death Eaters" -- known for their "pureblood" fervor. Purebloods, in the Harry Potter universe, are wizards (or witches) whose mother and father were both magical. Death Eaters made it their mission to eradicate any "half-bloods" or "mudbloods" who did not come from a magical family line.
