Meatloaf "would do anything" to avoid military draft

AKA Marvin Lee Aday

There are conflicting origin stories about Marvin Lee Aday's unflattering stage name. However, it seems to have followed him from childhood, a gift from his angry alcoholic father. After attempting to dodge the Vietnam draft by gaining 68 pounds in four and a half weeks, Loaf ignored his draft notice and founded the band Meat Loaf Soul, which later became Popcorn Blizzard.

Just like Nugent, crapping in his pants to avoid the draft. Romney seems to attract chickenhawks like flies on a cowpie.

Boston Globe: Romney vouched for low price on Staples stock

Romney vouched for low price on Staples stock

By Callum Borchers

CANTON, Mass. — Mitt Romney testified under oath in 1991 that the ex-wife of Staples founder Tom Stemberg got a fair deal in the couple’s 1988 divorce, even though the company shares Maureen Sullivan Stemberg received were valued at a tenth of Staples’ stock price on the day of its initial public offering only a year later.

At the time the Stembergs split, Romney suggested, there was little indication that Staples’ value would soon skyrocket.

Romney’s testimony in a post-divorce lawsuit brought in 1990 by Sullivan Stemberg was unsealed on Thursday in Norfolk Probate and Family Court at the Globe’s request. Sullivan Stemberg sued unsuccessfully to amend the couple’s financial agreement after Staples went public in 1989 and closed its first day of trading at $22.50 per share, 10 times the value she had received.

Republicans react to perjury

No, not in the Romney Staples perjury case, or even when Romney left Bain, it's O.K. if it's a Republican. The false outrage was against Clinton.

Rick Santorum:
You can certainly argue ... that someone who breaks the law in not upholding and not telling the truth under oath and someone who obstructs justice does, in fact, threaten the republic.

Lindsey Graham (R-S. Carolina)
"Don't lie under oath when you're a defendant in a lawsuit against an average citizen.[...] Don't sent public officials and friends to tell your lies before a federal grand jury to avoid your legal responsibilities. Don't put your legal and political interests ahead of the rule of law and common decency.

Bill Bennett
People give a lot of leeway to people in public life. They understand that people, you know, come as sinners and they will sin continually, whether they're in public life or private life. But they do have certain lines that you can't cross. One of them is, I think, lying under oath, perjury, high crimes. That is a serious business.

Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky)
"I am completely and utterly perplexed by those who argue that perjury and obstruction of justice are not high crimes and misdemeanors...Perjury and obstruction hammer away at the twin pillars of our legal system: truth and justice."

Jon Kyl (R-Arizona)
"...there can be no doubt that perjurious, false, and misleading statements made under oath in federal court proceedings are indeed impeachable offenses.......John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the United States, said `there is no crime more extensively pernicious to society' than perjury, precisely because it `discolors and poisons the streams of justice.'"

(I have no idea what it is about, or how credible the source is, but maybe explains Trump's timing?)

October Surprise Revealed: Gloria Allred Heads To Court, Attempts To Unseal Mitt Romney Testimony And Lift Gag Order

Posted on Oct 23, 2012
Famed civil rights attorney Gloria Allred will be in a Boston area courtroom Wednesday in an attempt to unseal the sworn testimony given by Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, in a prior court case, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

"The Boston Globe is headed to court tomorrow morning for an emergency hearing in an attempt to obtain a court order to unseal the sworn testimony given by Mitt Romney in a prior court case and to lift a gag order so that the parties can speak about Romney. Gloria Allred will be in court representing one of the parties in the case," a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com.
The emergency hearing will take place at the Norfolk Probate & Family Court in Canton, Massachusetts, and Justice Jennifer Ulwick will oversee the proceedings which will begin at 9 a.m. EST.

As previously reported, Drudge Report founder and respected politico, Matt Drudge, tweeted Thursday: "Here she comes. Hearing Gloria Allred out there again, about to make a move. After all, it's her time of the campaign. Team O at the ready!!"
