Donald Trump's upcoming Houston-area rally is like Coachella for Texas GOP candidates

TFG is holding a super spreader event in Texas

When Donald Trump takes the stage in Conroe on Saturday, he’s almost guaranteed to continue talking about rigged elections, Joe Biden’s failings and the prospects of running again for president in 2024.

But the rally — his first full-fledged MAGA event in Texas since 2019 — means far more to GOP strategists. For them, it’s a gold mine of political organizing. For hours, they will have a captive audience of Trump loyalists who can be enticed into volunteering on other campaigns, added to donor lists and introduced to other Republicans running for office who will get time to speak at the event......

For Democrats, Trump’s frequent trips to Texas are tiring, but a signal that Republicans are in trouble.

“What it means to me is that they are scared,” said Harris County Democratic Party Chair Odus Evbagharu.

Conroe is in Montgomery County Texas which has a number of hate groups https://www.khou.com/article/news/crime/hate-group-based-in-montgomery-county-has-history-of-violence/285-d08cc091-c237-4df3-9a43-5df9fbad91c1

It is no wonder that Montgomery County is the county where TFG did best (from the article cited in OP)
In coming to Montgomery County, Trump is coming to the Texas county that performed best for him in 2020. Among counties with at least 100,000 voters, Montgomery County was the only one where he won over 70 percent of the vote.

It will be interesting to see if COVID cases spike after this event.

Laura Ingraham does not have a sense of humor and is angry at Kate McKinnon

Conservatives are stupid people who lack a sense of humor. Laura Ingram is a very stupid person whose feelings were hurt last weekend when Kate McKinnon did a great job on SNL.

A federal judge officially shot down John EASTMAN's bid to block a Jan. 6 committee subpoena

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/01/25/eastman-jan-6-panel-ruling-00002184

A federal judge in California on Tuesday delivered a forceful defense of the Jan. 6 select committee’s efforts, sharply rejecting a bid by attorney John Eastman — a key driver of Donald Trump’s effort to subvert the 2020 election — to block a subpoena from the panel to his former employer, Chapman University.

“The public interest here is weighty and urgent,” said Judge David Carter in a 16-page ruling rejecting Eastman’s attempt to scuttle the subpoena for thousands of pages of his Chapman University emails. “Congress seeks to understand the causes of a grave attack on our nation’s democracy and a near-successful attempt to subvert the will of the voters.”

Carter said Eastman’s effort to stoke distrust of the election results could reasonably be considered an “influencing factor … for some of those who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021." He said he would entertain claims of attorney-client privilege for specific documents but would reject Eastman’s blanket attempt to stymie the select committee. Carter noted that Chapman had identified 19,000 documents relevant to House investigators.

The ruling is one of the most consequential yet for the Jan. 6 committee, which is fending off nearly a dozen lawsuits by Trump allies seeking to upend subpoenas for their testimony, documents or phone records. It comes a day after Carter signaled he was likely to rule this way and ordered Eastman to begin working with the Jan. 6 committee to identify any legitimately privileged documents.

Man Can't Get Heart Transplant Because He's Not Vaccinated Against COVID

This is a good policy
https://twitter.com/GeneforTexas/status/1485966698209554437

BOSTON (CBS) – David Ferguson is speaking out passionately on behalf of his son DJ. He says the 31-year-old is fighting for his life at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in desperate need of a heart transplant.

“My son has gone to the edge of death to stick to his guns and he’s been pushed to the limit,” Ferguson said.

The family says he was at the front of the line to receive a transplant but because he has not received the COVID-19 vaccination he is no longer eligible according to hospital policy. Ferguson says his son refuses to get the shot.

“It’s kind of against his basic principles; he doesn’t believe in it. It’s a policy they are enforcing and so because he won’t get the shot, they took him off the list of a heart transplant,” Ferguson said.

Brigham and Women’s released a statement saying, “And like many other transplant programs in the United States – the COVID-19 vaccine is one of several vaccines and lifestyle behaviors required for transplant candidates in the Mass General Brigham system in order to create both the best chance for a successful operation and also the patient’s survival after transplantation.”

TX League of Women Voters gets 10,000 voter registration forms, threatens to sue state over shortfal

Greg is suppressing the vote and does not want new voters to register

Amid mounting public pressure and pending litigation, the Texas Secretary of State office provided the Houston chapter of the League of Women Voters of Texas 10,000 voter registration forms over the weekend.

After initially being promised only 50 voter registration forms and eventually receiving 1,000 forms last week, the League sent a letter Friday to Texas Secretary of State John Scott threatening to sue if the state did not provide the needed registration forms to the League and other voter registration organizations ahead of the March 1 primary. Not doing so would be a violation of the National Voter Registration Act, the League wrote.

The National Voter Registration Act requires states to make mail voter registration applications available for distribution through governmental and private entities, in particular groups that organize voter registration programs. Texas is one of 11 states that does not offer online voter registration and the deadline to register to vote in the primaries is Jan. 31.

"It is crucial that the Secretary of State's office act swiftly to provide the necessary voter registration forms for the people of Texas," wrote Grace Chimene, president of the League of Women Voters of Texas, in the letter. "Voter registration services from organizations like the League of Women Voters are a vital component of a fair and accessible democracy. We call on the Secretary Scott's office to do whatever it takes to meet the demand in voter registration for Texans."
