Devin Nunes' Mom F*cked Up His Campaign Finance Reports
Who has their mommy do their FEC reports?
https://twitter.com/MollyJongFast/status/1375813862541434884
Two political committees belonging to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) have spent the past two days filing amended FEC reports to correct errors and omissions by their treasurer: his mom.
The fundraising committeesNunes Victory Fund, and his leadership PAC, NEW PAChave also removed Nunes mothers email address and replaced them with an unspecified Treasurer 1 and Treasurer 2.
Those emails serve as contact points for the Federal Election Commission, which sends notices called Requests for Additional Information (RFAIs) when compliance officials flag errors or inconsistencies. The FEC sent an additional five notices on Thursday and Friday to the conservatives official campaign committee, where Toni Nunes has run the books since her sons first congressional bid in 2002.
All but one of the campaigns 2020 FEC reports filed by Nunes mom contain material errors, according to the RFAIs. Flaws include duplicate contributions from GOP mega-donors such as Home Depot CEO Bernie Marcus ($50.5 million career giving), billionaire energy mogul Kelcy Warren ($23.8 million), and investor Rex Sinquefield ($12.2 million).
The FEC also said NEW PAC failed to disclose a donation from health insurance provider Humana. An amended report filed Thursday shows the donation amount was $5,000, noting that the item was returned by bank on Jan. 22.

Right-Wingers Freak Out About Pentagon's Anti-Extremist Initiative
I am glad that the military is purging right wing nut jobs from the military
https://twitter.com/crooksandliars/status/1375804314199805952
Predictable as ever, conservatives are gearing up to defend their increasingly extremist voter base in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection by trotting out their timeworn bloody shirt tropeyou know, the one that makes a victim out of the bully and a bully out of the victimeven as government officials try to grapple with the fallout from the manifest reality of a far-right-wing insurgency on our doorsteps. As always, the problem isnt far-right seditionist violence, the problem is the people calling it out and trying to reel it in.
Right-wing pundits are currently attempting to repeat the travesty of 2009, when conservative media claimed a Department of Homeland Security memo warning of an increase in far-right organizing and recruitment, particularly directed at military veterans, was proof of plans to persecute conservatives. This time, theyre directing the same sort of self-owning complaints at the militarys announced efforts to root out far-right extremiststhe kind who would participate in an armed insurrectionfrom their ranks.
In the aftermath of Jan. 6and the realization that one in five of the riotous insurgents arrested for their roles in it were military veteransthe Biden administration, led by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, announced that it would tackle the long-running issue of radicalization within the ranks of the U.S. military, first by ordering a 60-day stand-down in all six branches of the service to attempt to assess how far-reaching the problem really is. Exactly how those orders will play out remains up in the air, but leaders at every military base are currently figuring that out.

Texas snowstorm death toll double what was originally reported -- and could be even higher: officials
Greg killed a ton of good Texans
https://twitter.com/RawStory/status/1375217385985208321
On Thursday, The Daily Beast reported that officials have doubled their estimate of the death toll for the freak snowstorm that paralyzed the state of Texas in February and that even more could be reported as the investigation continues.
"The Texas Department of State Health Services said that the number of deaths, initially 57, was in actuality 111 and is still expected to rise as state investigators continue their work," reported Blake Montgomery. "The majority of the fatalities were from hypothermia, but lack of access to medical care, traffic accidents, and fires also played a part. Carbon monoxide poisoning, often caused by sitting in a car in a closed garage, was also a culprit."
According to Dallas County chief medical examiner Jeffrey Barnard, "We'll probably never have a really accurate number."
