Absolutely thinkable. But all in good time. Let FBI work up the chain. Might find very overt actions

Let the Senate trial proceed. There is now a significant chance he might get convicted there. mcCONnell would like to see him dry up and disappear, or at least purged from the party. Even if not convicted, tRump is likely to get more than a couple of Republicons vote against him.

That's what we call "a good start".

We know the rioters had inside help and outside help. Handle it like an organized crime investigation. Work your way up. It is a deep conspiracy and the upper layers have tried to handle it all by a wink and a nod, but fundamentally the tRump Gang are amateurs so there will be evidence.

Blocking the National Guards was enabled by installation of civilian minions at Defense Department, which was enabled by firing Esper Nov 9, who had stood up to tRump in June.

We know that Caldwell coordinated with someone inside the Capitol with knowledge of movements. He texted "Inside" and then got a message telling him lawmakers were in the tunnels and gave him explicit directions.

Work it.

Yes, funny thing about pardons, you can still be charged with a crime & be formally forced to admit

... in court.

According to the 1915 Supreme Court decision, you can be forced to use your pardon in court. And using the pardon is to admit guilt.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burdick_v._United_States

The pardon does not actually apply until the defendant proffers it in court in answer to a charge. Nobody can proffer it for them. If the defendant does not proffer the pardon, then they can be convicted.

So,

1) Prosecutors should formally ask every pardoned person if they admit guilt.

2) If they do not, they should be charged.

3) Then they would be forced to admit their guilt, formally, in a court of law, where it will be recorded.

The Supreme Court ruled in Burdick that a pardon carries "an imputation of guilt, acceptance a confession of it".[2]

Burdick v. United States, 236 U.S. 79 (1915), was a case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that:

* A pardoned person must introduce the pardon into court proceedings, otherwise the pardon must be disregarded by the court.

* To do that, the pardoned person must accept the pardon. If a pardon is rejected, it cannot be forced upon its subject.

A pardon is an act of grace, proceeding from the power entrusted with the execution of the laws, which exempts the individual on whom it is bestowed from the punishment the law inflicts for a crime he has committed. It is the private though official act of the executive magistrate, delivered to the individual for whose benefit it is intended.... A private deed, not communicated to him, whatever may be its character, whether a pardon or release, is totally unknown and cannot be acted on.[1]

Coup Plan F? Plan Q?

Plan A: steal election by voter suppression, mail-in ballot suppression, etc.

Plan B: "win" election by court cases

Plan C: steal election by suborning states' Secretaries of State via pressurizing phone calls

Plan D: gin up a rally to attract a big "antifa/blm" response and get a race riot going which expands to a smash DC riot and then invoke the Insurrection Act

Plan E: when "antifa/blm" wouldn't show up, hatch "walk with me" to get Pence to "do the right thing" and then depending how things go, segue to the Insurrection Act as in D

Plan F: MyPillow Coup?

Note: they make up plans as they go. Plan A and B were long term plans because they are standard operating procedure for Republicons. Plans C and D began planning Nov 9 as Plan B looked like it wouldn't get off the ground. Variant plan E was branched off of D when it became clear that "antifa/blm" wouldn't show up.

If Plan F fails, what's next? Plan Q which would be arrest of Clintons, Obamas, Bidens, etc.?

I predict a Republican split into 3 parties

I think there will develop three parties out of the ruins of the RepubliCon party:

1) Rational Conservatives, like the Lincoln Project, who are willing to work with Democrats.

2) Rotting Elephant Carcass Party: clever but corrupt RWs like McConnell, Pence, and Collins clinging to the remnants of the Greed Over People party.

3) MAGA Q God Emperor of the US party with Gym "Medal of Freedom" Jordan and Graham and a horde of similar miscreants.

tRump has made so many enemies that he won't get pardoned & can't make a self-pardon work

He pushed Pence to the point where Pence is now so pissed off with tRump he is not going to pardon him even if tRump resigns. Pence still has ambitions.

He pushed McCONnell too hard by actively losing Georgia, despite going there for pro forma rallies which of course mostly satisfied his ego.

Starting Dec. 19 with his tweet "Big protest in D.C. January 6. Be there, will be wild!" he has been aiding and abetting the mob and the resulting riot. He culminated it with urging them walk there, several times in the speech, hinting he would walk with them (he lied).

That will have alienated most of the support he might have possibly have had in the minds of the Supreme Court Justices. If there was any legal theory that tRump could have put actions and mechanisms in place to engineer a sticky self-pardon, he didn't do it and ultimately has sabotaged himself in so many ways.

If I am wrong, then I apologize for raising hopes, but mine have been rising lately. If he at this point magically escapes Federal prosecution, it will only be what we thought for some time would have happened anyway.

Jan 17th is the most proximal reason Twitter suspended tRump:

Twitter warns of new violence to come, brewing again on social media, as reason for Trump ban
New research report, meanwhile, details planned events in Washington, Pittsburgh and every state capital

“Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021,” Twitter’s announcement said, noting two recent Trump tweets it said were “likely to inspire others to replicate the violent acts that took place on January 6, 2021.”

Include Silicon Valley, server farms, and media company centers.

Also add trouble brewing for Jan 19 and 20.

tRump fired Esper Nov 9 because he would not go along. Had tRump loyalist as Chief of Capitol Police

Esper defied tRump in June over deploying military to the streets of US cities.

Chief Sund was a tRump loyalist though he was not appointed by tRump.

Those two points are salient to the blocking of DC and Maryland National Guard by the acting Secretary of Defense Miller and the Chief's refusal of aid offered by the DC police force, until they all were too late.

Not actually insanity, but is loss or lack of reasoning skill, making them suckers for propaganda

Of course the extreme cases are somewhat insane, like the violent ones such as the ret. Lt. Col. in the well of the chamber with the tactical gear and Plasticuffs. His friends and family stated that they have withdrawn from him because he is so obsessed with trumpanzee conspiracy theories.

If it were really true
that a Presidential election had been stolen by about 5 million votes, then yes it would be sane rational and reasonable to fight for democracy in the streets and elsewhere.

But they are not entitled to an alternative set of facts. They were never reasoned into their views, though they will cite mountains of "evidence" and string it together with what seems like logic on the surface. Because of a lack of basic reasoning they get emotionally attached to theories and can't be reasoned out of them. They rationalize away counter-evidence and have confirmation bias.

Anytime you take the time to examine it, their evidence and their purported logic quickly falls apart.

So, mostly not insanity; mostly they never learned critical thinking or they lost the skill of analyzing and reasoning carefully.

What remains is a susceptibility to emotion and thus they are easy targets for propaganda.
