Congress needs to set up an independent body that can invoke the 25th

The 25th Amendment allows Congress to designate a body instead of the Cabinet to invoke the 25th. It’s clear we cannot count on the Cabinet with the news that some are resigning rather than making the tough decision. It would still require the VP, but we can at least do something.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

It should be a bipartisan commission — 5 Democrats and 5 Republicans — plus two lawyers, a medical doctor, and some sort of mental health expert. The question is who should appoint them? And how long are their terms?

4 Seasons Total Landscaper @markgongloff

Biden is now up to 50.8% of the popular vote, topping Reagan’s 50.7% in 1980. This is the highest percentage for a challenger since FDR in 1932

Trump would've given the same speech even if it was a blowout

Biden could have been on track to win 500 EV. Same speech. He was never going to concede gracefully.

It’s all bluster.

He can’t go directly to SCOTUS. They would hear an appeal from a state court or lower federal court.

There’s no legal comparison to be made to 2000, because 2000 was about stopping a recount. Trump wants to not count votes at all. No court, not even this SCOTUS, is going to do that. You can do some gymnastics to justify stopping a recount because “the votes have already been counted so this is a waste of time”; there is no way to justify “we shouldn’t count legitimate ballots at all.”

Trump is going to lose. He won’t go quietly, everyone knew that, but he will go because that’s just how it is.

Then he’ll spend the next 4 years holding more rallies and probably run in 2024. He won’t win the GOP primary, though, so he’ll run third-party and split the vote. Biden (or Harris if he only serves one term) wins bigger next time.

Source: CNN

Robert Trump, 72, the younger brother of President Donald Trump, died Saturday at a New York hospital, Donald Trump announced in a statement.

"It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight. He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace," the President said.

Donald Trump made a last minute decision to go to New York Friday to visit his brother as he headed to New Jersey for the weekend.
