If every eligible voter was allowed to vote, Obama would win no questions asked

Obama Would Be Big Favorite With ‘Fired Up’ Base

There’s one advantage that President Obama has that Mitt Romney probably doesn’t. If he can get a good turnout from his base, he’ll be the heavy favorite to win in November — even if Mr. Romney gets a strong turnout as well.

On average over the last five public surveys, 35 percent of registered voters identify themselves as Democrats and 30 percent as Republicans. That advantage is down somewhat for Democrats since 2008, but it is an advantage nevertheless.

In the regular, likely-voter version of our “now-cast,” Mr. Obama is estimated to have a 68 percent chance of winning the Electoral College in an election held today. But on the basis of registered voters, he would be a 91 percent favorite. Instead of being ahead in the popular vote by a hair over one point, he’d be expected to win by around four. And he’d be projected to win 322 electoral votes, rather than 291.

This is why the republicans keep putting up voting restrictions and trying to disenfranchise voters. They know the odd are completely against them!

Get Out the VOTE!

Eastwood tries to explain the chair...

Eastwood was personally invited to speak at the RNC in Tampa by Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, but when campaign officials asked for specific information about what he would say in the speech, the star said he was reluctant to provide details.

"They vet most of the people, but I told them, 'You can't do that with me, because I don't know what I'm going to say," Eastwood told the newspaper.

Eastwood revealed that the idea to talk to the empty chair came to him while he waited in the Green Room just minutes before he took the stage. "There was a stool there, and some fella kept asking me if I wanted to sit down," he said. "When I saw the stool sitting there, it gave me the idea. I'll just put the stool out there and I'll talk to Mr. Obama and ask him why he didn't keep all of the promises he made to everybody."

This is what Ann Romney and Mitt Romney never did.

If the speech is effective beyond the power of well delivered rhetoric, it will be because the first lady took this description of Obama’s core self and linked it to policy. This is what Ann Romney and Mitt Romney never did. The message of the GOP convention was “Trust Mitt.” That was Michelle Obama’s message too: Her husband could be trusted because he came from a background and has lived a middle class life. But then she started connecting the biography to the policy. This was always Bill Clinton’s great gift. If this connection is successfully made, then that's what will make this pitch more politically than just a pretty speech by a loving wife who thinks her husband deserves an A for effort.

Here is Westlake Ohio, hoping for rain - maybe it will put the fire out in Paul Ryans pants.

Paul Ryan is scheduled to speak just a few blocks from my office. I am really hoping it rains on his parade today.
