Alabama’s win Monday means Northwest Missouri is best football team in nation*

The asterisk denotes that a certain leap in logic is required to make this claim

If you look at who beat who this season, the Bearcats theoretically could be seen as the country’s best team

We can all agree that Monday’s national championship football game was fun to watch.

The Crimson Tide was crowned champions after beating Clemson 45-40. It’s worth noting that Alabama finished the season, 12-1, and that one loss is why you could say Northwest Missouri State is the best team in the country.

Assistant Sports Editor Tom Ibarra brought this to my attention, but this is how you make the case for the Bearcats beat the nation’s best team.

Ted ‘Duck Hunter’ Cruz Goes Full Camo In BIZARRE New Ad Pandering To Idiot America

Politicians have been known to do a lot of things to get elected. They usually cater and pander to a group of people who they think will have the best chance at casting a vote in their favor. In the case of Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz, those he’s decided to cater to are the residents of Idiot America.

Cruz has decided to go all in trying to get the ultra-religious, absent from reality, guns and God group of folks who love to hunt, hate gay people and live far away from populated areas. People otherwise known as extreme, right-wing Republicans.

Perfectly pandering to this demographic, Cruz paired himself up with Duck Dynasty and their bigot-in-chief Phil Robertson. Robertson is about as anti-gay and bigoted as one could ever hope to be, so of course he’s now endorsed one of the leading bigot candidates running for president — Ted Cruz.

In a new campaign commercial for Cruz, Robertson, with his face painting black camo for hunting, tells everyone the qualifications he wants to see in a president:
“Is he or she godly? Does he or she love us? Can he or she do the job? And finally, would they kill a duck and put ’em in a pot and make up a good duck gumbo? I’ve looked at the candidates. Ted Cruz is my man.”

I'm Sick of Conservatives Being Such Babies

Last night President Obama noted the unremarkable truth that the US can't try to rebuild every country that falls into crisis. "It's the lesson of Iraq," he said. Over at National Review, Bing West was not amused:


That is insulting to all who fought. What does Mr. Obama say to the families who lost a loved one: they died in a quagmire that weakened us? The lesson of Iraq is that after American troops achieved stability, Mr. Obama quit, leading to a larger war and more American deaths.

Jesus, this pisses me off. Are conservatives ever willing to take responsibility for anything? They destroy the economy and then spend eight years bitching and whining because it's taking Obama so long to dig out of the hole they dug. They sit around spouting tough talk about their "Axis of Evil" but do nothing to stop North Korea and Iran from developing nuclear programs—and then go ballistic when Obama finally does something about it. And after merrily dragging us into the stupidest and most disastrous war in recent memory, they've spent every year since then desperately trying to pin blame for the aftermath on Obama.


They're like small children, ruining everything they touch because the world is a big playground that they govern with their guts instead of their brains. Then they throw temper tantrums when the adults come along and try to clean up the messes they've made.

Father of Koch Brothers Helped Build Nazi Oil Refinery

The father of the billionaires Charles G. and David H. Koch helped construct a major oil refinery in Nazi Germany that was personally approved by Adolf Hitler, according to a new history of the Kochs and other wealthy families.

The book, “Dark Money,” by Jane Mayer, traces the rise of the modern conservative movement through the activism and money of a handful of rich donors: among them Richard Mellon Scaife, an heir to the Mellon banking fortune, and Harry and Lynde Bradley, brothers who became wealthy in part from military contracts but poured millions into anti-government philanthropy.

But the book is largely focused on the Koch family, stretching back to its involvement in the far-right John Birch Society and the political and business activities of the father, Fred C. Koch, who found some of his earliest business success overseas in the years leading up to World War II. One venture was a partnership with the American Nazi sympathizer William Rhodes Davis, who, according to Ms. Mayer, hired Mr. Koch to help build the third-largest oil refinery in the Third Reich, a critical industrial cog in Hitler’s war machine.

The episode is not mentioned in an online history published by Koch Industries, the company that Mr. Koch later founded and passed on to his sons.

Portland Now Generates Electricity From Turbines Installed In City Water Pipes

You’d be forgiven if the phrase “Portland goes green with innovative water pipes” doesn’t immediately call to mind thoughts of civil engineering and hydro-electric power. And yet, that’s exactly what Oregon’s largest city has done by partnering with a company called Lucid Energy to generate clean electricity from the water already flowing under its streets and through its pipes.

Portland has replaced a section of its existing water supply network with Lucid Energy pipes containing four forty-two inch turbines. As water flows through the pipes, the turbines spin and power attached generators, which then feed energy back into the city’s electrical grid. Known as the “Conduit 3 Hydroelectric Project,” Portland’s new clean energy source is scheduled to be up and running at full capacity in March. According to a Lucid Energy FAQ detailing the partnership, this will be the “first project in the U.S. to secure a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for renewable energy produced by in-pipe hydropower in a municipal water pipeline."

A host on FOX (the king of fake) accuses Obama of faking tears

Fox host: President Obama put a ‘raw onion’ in his podium so he could cry fake tears for kids killed by guns

ox News host Andrea Tantaros suggested on Tuesday President Barack Obama had used a “raw onion” to produce fake tears for shooting victims during his press conference on gun violence.

Following Obama’s announcement that he was taking executive action to expand background checks and gun safety measures, the hosts of Outnumbered argued that the president was violating the separation of powers doctrine in the U.S. Constitution.


But it was the president’s emotional reaction while speaking about gun violence in Chicago that irked host Melissa Francis.

“What was really upsetting was the tears that he wiped away again and again,” Francis opined. “You want that for — I mean, we feel frighten about what’s going on with ISIS. And he can’t pull that kind of passion for anything about this.”
