If climate change threatens us all, shouldn't everyone be talking about it? "That's the only way revolutions ever start"According to the new book, "Saving Us: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World," the lack of conversation may be the biggest threat of all.
Author Katharine Hayhoe said more than half of U.S. adults are concerned about climate change, but only about a third of us ever talk about it. Hayhoe is a prominent climate scientist at Texas Tech University who studies not only the climate but the conversation around it.
"I mean, if one more person tells you about a starving polar bear, or a melting iceberg, or rising sea levels, you're just like, 'What am I supposed to do? I'm just one person. I'm not, like, the president, or CEO, or anything," said Hayhoe.
Hayhoe argues the most important thing people can do is the one thing so many have been avoidingtalking about it.
...
"Did you know that 90 companies are responsible for two-thirds of the whole global warming problem since the beginning of the industrial era?" asked Hayhoe, who joined in the conversation.
... 9,000,000 people die every year of air pollution.

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2021
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 was awarded "for groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of complex systems" with one half jointly to Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann "for the physical modelling of Earth's climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming" and the other half to Giorgio Parisi "for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales."

Even the Nobel Committee is prioritizing earth's changing climate. Announced just this morning.
Brilliant!!
Republicans don't believe in jack shit- and they have not since Reagan started moldering in his coffin.
They just want/need something/someone to HATE and some group to feel superior to.
This really scares me!
My 34yo, vax'd & healthy son had a breakthrough infection but recovered.
Yesterday I just tried to reassure DFW that his son-in-law in NYC would be fine b/c my son recovered. Now, I know I said the wrong thing. Had no idea that young, healthy, vax'd folks were dying from breakthrough infections! 😵
Hell YES he is!
He's insane and so is anyone respecting him.
He's a temporary anarchist who wants to replace democracy with some hierarchical dictatorship.
The most powerful allegory I've ever seen.
I cried too.
And the CGI was excellent, so well done.
Some fool once said to me that she didn't want to watch a movie about a tiger and a shipwreck.
Plus some scenes from "Out of Africa" and...
"Bridges of Madison County." Powerful roles she played so well, in addition to her more famous ones. Emotion just pours out of her.
Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale...And Meryl.
"You decide," Christian's famous line from Ford vs Ferrari.
Tom always makes me happy.
Brad is The Best Eye-Candy.
And Christian is just one of the best actors ever.
And female? I agree with Yankee above: Meryl Streep. Hands down, Meryl's the best ever!
Worthy mention is Matt Damon because he's just a cutie & he's funny.
In China...
We were being served fried chicken and our good Chinese friend, whom we had known for decades, sudden picked a small piece off my plate, saying "you don't want to eat this."
It was batter-fried & at first unrecognizable to me - it was a fried chichen head, beak included!
I thanked him.
Quoted so many times...
