SICK of RW comparisons of H1N1 (Swine flu) to Covid-19?? Here's a rebuttal!

H1N1 took over three MONTHS to reach similar levels of cases and deaths we’re seeing now for Covid-19 in just three WEEKS!

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

From April 15, 2009 to July 24, 2009, states reported a total of 43,771 confirmed and probable cases of novel influenza A (H1N1) infection. Of these cases reported, 5,011 people were hospitalized and 302 people died.

United States

Coronavirus Cases: 26,959
Deaths: 349
Recovered: 178

ADDITIONALLY, Obama declared a Public Health Emergency on April 26, 2009 1-2 days *before* the *first* fatality had even occurred.

https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/realitycheck/the-press-office/declaration-a-national-emergency-with-respect-2009-h1n1-influenza-pandemic-0
On April 26, 2009, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (the "Secretary&quot first declared a public health emergency under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act,42 U.S.C. 247d, in response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. The Secretary has renewed that declaration twice, on July 24,2009, and October 1, 2009

H1N1 was estimated to have infected 60.8 Million Americans and killed ~12,000 over its entire span and had a low mortality rate of 0.02%, 75% lower than normal influenza strains
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic_in_the_United_States
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that from April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, there were 60.8 million cases, 274,000 hospitalizations, and 12,469 deaths (0.02% case fatality rate) in the United States due to the virus.

Covid-19 currently has a mortality rate (deaths / number of cases - it’s much worse looking at deaths per recovered - but comparing apples to apples for now) of 1.29% (65 times WORSE than H1N1)!
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

EXTRAPOLATING Covid-19 rate over H1N1 number of total infected would result in 785,000 deaths in the US alone, minimally. That would likely be MUCH higher due to hospitals being overwhelmed and patient care being rationed or ignored, leaving untolled numbers of additional deaths.

BREAKING: 21 people incarcerated at Rikers Island have tested positive for #COVID19 — as well as a similar number of staff. Population in infectious disease unit has doubled from 28 to 56 in past 4 days. @NYCMayor response is totally insufficient to full blown crisis.

Gonna get real ugly in there. And who knows how bad other prisons are.

The White House is launching a communications plan across multiple federal agencies that focuses on accusing Beijing of orchestrating a "cover-up" and creating a global pandemic, according to two U.S. officials and a cable obtained by The Daily Beast.

All that effort to do bullshit instead of helping people and #MAGA #Cult45 will suck it up

Latest Twitter trend: #Covidiot. Love it!!

I made it a point to try and avoid local FB groups today because there are too many #Covidiots in there who think they can continue life as normal. It’s no big deal. It’s unconstitutional. It’s illegal. It’s just the flu

I just can’t anymore

The human race is doomed

Look at the difference between how the Kentucky Governor and Tennessee Governor handled the Coronavirus

And look at the results of those policies

Ky Governor Beshear took more protective steps than did TN

Without mortgage / rent suspension, we risk an onslaught of foreclosures

There will be so many people unable to pay their mortgage which will snowball their problems

And landlords will suffer on that side as renters will be unable to pay rent

Foreclosures will start picking up or people will start selling houses below market to try and save themselves

Housing prices will take a hit which will put more people underwater and then....

Ugh

If only we have leadership of any type in the White House

At least FIVE states have issued "Stay at Home". Soon to be 6

Coronavirus updates: States order most residents to stay at home
https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-latest-news-2020-03-20/#
More than one-fourth of Americans are being ordered to stay home as much as possible in an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus. The governors of New York, Illinois and Connecticut on Friday joined California and Pennsylvania in shutting down most businesses. Workers considered "essential" are exempt, meaning grocery stores, pharmacies and take-out restaurants will stay open in those states.

There are more than 19,300 cases in the U.S., and at least 250 people have died, according to John Hopkins University.

AG Commissioner Nikki Fried (Dem) asks DeSantis to issue stay-at-home order for FL

https://www.wesh.com/article/fried-asks-desantis-to-issue-stay-at-home-order-for-florida/31829605
Florida's Agriculture Commissioner is asking Gov. Ron DeSantis to implement a stay-at-home order in response to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the state.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried asked DeSantis to think about implementing the order that falls in line with decisions that California, New York and Illinois have already made.

"Shutting down one of the nation's largest states is a decision that will have an economic impact – but it is a decision that will save lives," Fried said.

Fried said that Florida, the nation's third-most populous state, is a week behind California's increase in COVID-19 cases.

Love that she’s stepping up but this needs to be every state

We’re on our own. It’s up to all governors to collaborate to Shelter-in-Place simultaneously & for weeks

"There's a quote that I keep hearing...that this is a crisis that's going to be locally managed, state run & federally supported," Scarborough said.
