kpete's JournalDems mock Trump, GOP with April Fools transcript of secret meeting:
Democrats took advantage of April Fools' Day to spoof Thursday's meeting between Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee chairman in a fake transcript "found at the Tortilla Coast restaurant" across from RNC headquarters.
The prank details the Democratic National Committee's idea of how Trump's talk with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus played out Thursday:
"Last time Im gonna tell you, Rincey-Princey you call me Mister Trump," it starts off.
Can we talk message? Priebus asks Trump. "We seriously have a problem. I mean, theres a reason we do polling. We need to talk about our plans in a way that the public will actually accept.
I mean, the stuff about Mexicans and Muslims thats only said behind closed doors. And we cant have another year like we did with [2012 GOP presidential nominee] Mitt [Romney].
Failed candidate, Trump responds. "Choke artist. He choked like a dog. What a loser. I supported him. Decent guy.
Priebus then rebukes Trump for publicly exposing the GOPs message on immigrants, Muslims and women.
Yeah, thats kind of the point, he tells Trump. "The stuff youre saying is the same stuff that cost him the election.
All Im saying is we need to be just a little bit more ... welcoming. Just a touch less hate. And the stuff you just said this week about punishing women who get abortions
Always been consistent, Trump says, cutting Priebus off. "100 percent pro-life. But Im flexible. And there are exceptions. But the law is the law.
When Im president, no abortions. Unless youre really, really rich, which is fantastic. Or not. Totally consistent.
Priebus eventually gives up on toning Trump down in the DNCs fake transcript, leaving the billionaire with his waiter, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.), who wears a tuxedo T-shirt in the RNC scenario because it reminds Trump he's from New Jersey.

Make America Grate
Mexicans are rapists and criminals in search of soccer balls and gift baskets.
Wall Street Journal reporter Reid Epstein covered Sarah Palins appearance at the aforementioned Milwaukee event via Twitter, posting some of the former Alaska governors more memorable quotes from the address. According to Epstein, Palin returned to the matter of illegal immigration in her speech, a cornerstone of Donald Trumps campaign from inception. Epstein noted that Palin commented that Mexican nationals who enter the United States are greeted with gift baskets with soccer balls. The reporter also noted that Palin took some shots at Trumps main rival, Ted Cruz, and she also drew laughter from the crowd when she said that only Trump talks rationally about military threats.

Paul LePage locks self in room, refuses to swear in new state senator
If there's anyone left in America that thinks Maine Governor Paul LePage is still fit to hold elected office, maintaining that position on a day-to-day basis must be quite the slog. Having won a special election on Tuesday, Susan Deschambault is the newest elected Democratic state senator in his stateor she would be, but Gov. Paul LePage has apparently locked himself in a closet and refuses to come out:

How did it come to this?
Maddow:"Focus of Republican presidential race & its national media coverage right now is a farce"
Were in this moment of really profound hypocrisy in the Republican presidential race and professed ignorance in national media coverage of the Republican presidential race, Maddow noted. What we are having right now in terms of the focus of the Republican presidential race and its national media coverage right now is a farce.
Whats going on is not that hard to understand, and its really different from the way this is being described this most national media, Maddow said, calling out the pattern of media allowing Republicans a pass on their extremism as a whole, while focusing on the insanity of an individual. The political narrative and media narrative that come up in the last 24 hours in response to what Donald Trump said yesterday about abortion and what it means to be anti- abortion, what it means to want to ban abortion in this country, it is so out of touch and so facile right now its mind-bending.

...........
In February, the family was accepted as refugees in Canada, but pets were not allowed.
...............
When the family arrived in Canada, El Shatir was reminded of Sherry anytime she saw another person with a pet. It gave her hope that one day she would be reunited with her beloved cat.
A month and a half after leaving Sherry in Jordan, he was brought to Regina after much paper work and medical screening.
"I thank Canada, its people, its government for giving the Syrian people a chance to restart our lives again. To have a chance to live in a normal way and a safe way. Also for giving my cat another chance to live."
