RUDE PUNDIT: The Real Trick Behind Trump's Executive Actions: PASS THE BUCK

.............

It's all an illusion, a lie, a trick. "Look over there while I pull this destruction of the social safety net out of a hat." But, hey, the postponing of student loan payments doesn't suck.

That's the way this shit goes with this toad of a human, this nadir of the presidents. The buck stops anywhere but with Mr. "I Take No Responsibility." Everything's a hoax. Everything exists to help him or hurt him. He's says he's an innocent victim of a cruel world when he's the cruelty itself in an orange shitsack.

By the way, if you wanna see just how pathetic a worm Trump is, read the executive order on evictions. Here's the first sentence: "The 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which originated in the People’s Republic of China, continues to pose a significant threat to the health of Americans throughout the United States."

Come for the desperate buck-passing. Stay for the self-fellatio: "As we have since January 2020, with the proactive decision to limit travel from China and the passage of three massive economic relief packages, my Administration will take whatever steps are necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and maintain economic prosperity."

He doesn't mention, as you might imagine, that Congress passed those economic relief packages. Because taking credit for the work of others is the yang to his blame others yin.

Paula Poundstone: Dear Ted Cruz

There's only one person in the world who would touch your feet, and you let Trump call her ugly.

Trump's executive orders are confusing and unconstitutional -- and likely to hurt his own voters.

He doesn't care

....................

Trump's ploy is legally complicated and almost certainly unconstitutional. The executive branch is not empowered to spend money as it chooses, or to change tax policy on a whim. Or that is, at least it hasn't been until now. But Trump knows that the legal system moves slowly and the election is just weeks away, so he figures he can play savior without any consequences. His orders are so economically destructive and the power grab so blatant that it's possible Republican senators will come back to the table and negotiate, instead of just trying to dictate terms. Their majority is at stake too.

But let's be clear about what happened here. The man who sold himself to America as the greatest dealmaker the world has ever known can't bargain his way out of a paper bag. He walks away, holds his breath until he turns blue and then lets the other side decide if they're going to let him take the country down with him.

That's the art of the tantrum, not the art of the deal. He's quite good at it. Let's just hope the Republicans in Congress still have some sense of self-preservation and are willing to work something out to save the country. Otherwise we are in for a simply disastrous fall.

It's Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump.

“Most dissidents from Trumpism take a familiar line: They didn’t leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left them. But for Stevens, Trump forced a more fundamental rethinking: The problem, he believes, is not that the GOP became something it wasn’t; it’s that many of those within it — including him — failed to see what it actually was.”

Nationwide conference: Postponement of the 2020 college football season and all fall sports.

Sources: Power 5 Conferences Moving Toward Canceling Fall Sports

High-level conference meetings are being planned for this week across the college football landscape with the expected resolution of postponing fall sports until 2021, multiple sources have told Sports Illustrated.

“It’s gotten to a critical stage,” one conference commissioner told Sports Illustrated Sunday, after a conference call between the heads of the Power 5 conferences. “I think all of us will be meeting with our boards in the coming days. We have work to do that is no fun.”

Dominoes started falling in earnest Saturday when the Mid-American Conference postponed fall sports. The Big Ten followed with an announcement that it was pausing its scheduled progression to full-pads football practices. A well-placed source told SI Saturday, “I think by the end of the week the fall sports will be postponed in all conferences.”

Even that timetable might be accelerated. Sources told SI on Sunday that the Big Ten is moving toward a decision to cancel the 2020 fall season, while engaging other Power 5 conferences on a uniform decision to be announced later this week.

North Paulding High School will shut down for two (to disinfect) days due to Covid-19

UPDATE, 6 p.m.: In a letter sent to parents on Sunday, Paulding County Schools Superintendent Brian Otott wrote, “As a result of our being informed of nine cases of COVID-19 at North Paulding High School following the first week of in-person instruction, along with the possibility that number could increase if there are currently pending tests that prove positive, we have consulted with the Department of Public Health and are temporarily switching the instructional model to Digital Learning at NPHS.”

The high school will have remote learning on Monday and Tuesday, Otott said.

He told parents, “Tuesday evening parents and students will be notified of whether Digital Learning will continue, or if in-person instruction may resume. On Monday and Tuesday, the school will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and the district will consult with the Department of Public Health to assess the environment and determine if there any additional close contacts for confirmed cases who have not already been identified.”

UPDATE, 5:30 p.m. Sunday: North Paulding High School was closed to in-person learning Thursday and Friday. That was pre-planned to give administrators time to tinker with safety protocols after seeing them in action at the start of the week.

But on Sunday afternoon, district spokesman Jay Dillon said students there would start this week online too.
