A story the world needs right now: "Nudist chases wild boar who snatched his laptop"

BERLIN - A German nudist had the last laugh after giving chase to a wild boar that had run off with a bag containing his laptop.

Pictures posted on social media show the naked man running after a sow and her two piglets to the mirth of fellow bathers at Berlin's Teufelssee, or Devil's Lake.

Cuomo clears New York schools statewide to open, carefully

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York’s governor said Friday that he would allow children statewide to return to classrooms for the start of the new school year, citing the state’s success in battling the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo clears the way for schools to offer at least some days of in-person classes, alongside remote learning.

“Everywhere in the state, every region is below the threshold that we established,” Cuomo said during a conference call with reporters. “If there’s a spike in the infection rate, if there’s a matter of concern in the infection rate, then we can revisit.”

Many New York school districts have planned to start the year with students in school buildings only a few days a week, while learning at home the rest of the time.

Health directors told to keep quiet as Fla. leaders pressed to reopen classrooms

As Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) “pushed this summer for schools to reopen, state leaders told school boards they would need Health Department approval if they wanted to keep classrooms closed,” the Palm Beach Post reports.

“Then they instructed health directors not to give it.”

“Following a directive from DeSantis’ administration, county health directors across Florida refused to give school boards advice about one of the most wrenching public health decisions in modern history: whether to reopen schools in a worsening pandemic.”

Said school Lake County School Board Marc Dodd: “When we voted to reopen schools, I’ll be honest and tell you I did it because we are under an executive order to do so. Do I think they’re safe? Absolutely not.”

"It is what it is" - A 7-year-old (with no underlying conditions) has died of Covid-19 in Georgia

The boy's death isn't the first among children in the US. In Florida alone, at least seven minors have died from Covid-19. Last month, a 9-year-old girl who had no underlying medical conditions was the youngest to die in the state.

In Georgia, a second grader tested positive for Covid-19 after attending the first day of school this week, the Cherokee County School District told CNN.

Chatham County is reporting 5,441 confirmed cases of the virus and 74 deaths.

The state of Georgia has reported 204,895 cases and 4,026 deaths.

Biden-My Statement On Faith: "For President Trump to attack my faith is shameful."

Like so many people, my faith has been the bedrock foundation of my life: it’s provided me comfort in moments of loss and tragedy, it’s kept me grounded and humbled in times of triumph and joy. And in this moment of darkness for our country — of pain, of division, and of sickness for so many Americans — my faith has been a guiding light for me and a constant reminder of the fundamental dignity and humanity that God has bestowed upon all of us.

For President Trump to attack my faith is shameful. It’s beneath the office he holds and it’s beneath the dignity the American people so rightly expect and deserve from their leaders. However, like the words of so many other insecure bullies, President Trump’s comments reveal more about him than they do about anyone else. They show us a man willing to stoop to any low for political gain, and someone whose actions are completely at odds with the values and teachings that he professes to believe in.

My faith teaches me to love my neighbor as I would myself, while President Trump only seeks to divide us. My faith teaches me to care for the least among us, while President Trump seems to only be concerned about his gilded friends. My faith teaches me to welcome the stranger, while President Trump tears families apart. My faith teaches me to walk humbly, while President Trump teargassed peaceful protestors so he could walk over to a church for a photo op.

As I’ve said so many times before, we’re in the battle for the soul of our nation, and President Trump’s decision today to profane God and to smear my faith in a political attack is a stark reminder of what the stakes of this fight truly are.

Breaking—the teenage student who whistle blew and took the photos of the Georgia high school without much masks—was just suspended by school. Terrible optics on part of the school.

On Wednesday, the school addressed the controversy that had swirled around the viral photograph via an intercom announcement from North Paulding High School principal Gabe Carmona. In it, according to two people familiar with the situation, he stated that any student found criticizing the school on social media could face disciplinary consequences.
