SC woman shoots self while seeking gun in purse

SC woman shoots self while seeking gun in purse
The Associated Press

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A South Carolina woman who packed a gun in her purse is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A North Myrtle Beach city spokesman says the woman shot herself while driving Friday because she was fumbling through her purse for something and accidently pulled the trigger.

Spokesman Patrick Dowling says the accidental shooting happened near the city's public safety building and quickly pulled her car into a police department parking space to seek help.

An Horry County ambulance took the woman to a hospital.

America Now Has Three Major Political Parties

Effectively there are now three parties, three House caucuses:

-- Regular Democrats (then 188 Members)

-- Business Republicans (85 Members)

-- Birch Society Republicans (151 Members)

These Birchers are anti-government, anti-immigration, anti-compromise, and opposed to taxes in all forms and appearances. The term "Birch Society" is used because "Tea Party" is a misnomer. This Bircher caucus is not a creature of right-leaning populism.

The Koch family were the main backers of the John Birch Society. They remain the prime financial backers for Bircher Republicans. Ideological slogans and communal paranoia define their campaigns.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well...

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.

You have two choices... smile and close this page,
or pass this along to someone else to share the lesson .

For Mark Kirk, there was no white light, no tunnel-Instead-3 Angels Standing At The Foot Of His Bed

ON CAPITOL HILL
SEN. MARK KIRK 'SAW ANGELS' FOLLOWING STROKE
Defining moment deepened faith in God

(DAILY HERALD) For Mark Kirk, there was no white light, no tunnel.

What Illinois’ junior U.S. senator experienced was three angels standing at the foot of his bed.

“You want to come with us?” Kirk was asked.

“No,” he told them. “I’ll hold off.”

The Highland Park Republican, who plans to return to the Senate when Congress convenes Thursday, recounted the story in his first in-depth interview since he suffered a massive stroke nearly a year ago.

On the 7th Day Reid will rest and take pleasure in what he has crafted.

Reid alters the laws of space and time...

The first day of the Senate will technically last until January 22nd to allow for filibuster reform. You see, Harry Reid has obtained the amulet from an underground Mesopotamian tomb, which can bend the laws of time and space itself. Or not.

WaPo: "The middle ground in this debate has been given the name 'the constitutional option': It argues that on the first day of a new session of Congress, you only need 51 votes to change the Senate rules, as each Congress has a constitutional right to make its own rules. That's the approach various Democratic senators are taking in their effort to reform the filibuster. But Thursday was the first day of the 113th Congress. And it came and went without filibuster reform. So is filibuster reform dead? Nope. Majority Leader Harry Reid is just making the first day of the session last far longer than the typical 24 hours." Boehner Needs to Sober Up or Go Home

Boehner Needs to Sober Up or Go Home
by BooMan
Sat Jan 5th, 2013 at 11:14:44 AM EST

Late on Election Night, President Obama attempted to call Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, but was told that both were asleep. During the evening of New Year's Day, John Boehner refused to take phone calls from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Back during the negotiations over the debt ceiling in 2011, John Boehner refused to answer the president's phone calls, leading the president to complain to Bob Woodward.

"I was pretty angry," Obama told Woodward. "There's no doubt I thought it was profoundly irresponsible, at that stage, not to call me back immediately and let me know what was going on."

Alcoholism is a sickness that should warrant people's sympathy rather than scorn. If John Boehner would ask for help or adopt a contrite attitude like Sen. Mike Crapo, it would be easy to lay off the criticism and not make such an issue of Boehner's drinking. But he can't do his job and his isn't available to come to the phone in the evenings.

He was so visibly hammered during his speech at the Republican National Convention (a tradition that goes back at least as far as the 1996 convention in San Diego) that Michael Savage played his whole speech on the radio in order to mock his drunkenness. He was absolutely plastered on election night in 2010 (a year in which Joe Scarborough called him a "lazy drunk" on the air). For years people have been speculating that Boehner weeps so often in public because he is drunk so often in public.

Personally, I wouldn't care about Boehner's drinking if her were just a congressman. But he's third in line to the presidency and he's blotto half the time. He can't answer phone calls from mayors and governors or even the president if those phone calls come late at night.

Obama: No More Compromises

“One thing I will not compromise over is whether or not Congress should pay the tab for a bill they’ve already racked up,” Obama said in his weekly address. “If Congress refuses to give the United States the ability to pay its bills on time, the consequences for the entire global economy could be catastrophic. The last time Congress threatened this course of action, our entire economy suffered for it. Our families and our businesses cannot afford that dangerous game again.”
