Jennifer Rubin, WaPo: Trump is tearing down the FBI and the Justice Department....
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2018/01/30/trump-is-tearing-down-the-fbi-and-the-justice-department-wont-the-gop-stop-him/?utm_term=.26b175384836Once again, we see the GOP descend into intellectual and ethical corruption. It chooses to disregard, or worse, join in Trumps plot to hobble a criminal investigation. Republicans with each passing day convince more Americans that they are unfit to hold office, let alone hold majorities in the House and Senate.

The FBI inquiry into alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 US presidential election has been given a second memo that independently set out some of the same allegations made in a dossier by , the British former spy.
The second memo was written by Cody Shearer, a controversial political activist and former journalist who was close to the Clinton White House in the 1990s.
Unlike Steele, Shearer does not have a background in espionage, and his memo was initially viewed with scepticism, not least because he had shared it with select media organisations before the election.
However, the Guardian has been told the FBI investigation is still assessing details in the Shearer memo and is pursuing intriguing leads.

My point? He got into a position of power through sheer psychopathic deviousness. I challenge anyone to say Trump gained power through totally honest, non-psychopathic means. I dare you.
*deleted text not pertinent to this group* Yes, Trump bears a lot of similarities to Mussolini. Mussolini wasn't AS evil as Hitler. The huge difference between Hitler and Trump is the lack of strident anti-semitism. If his daughter had never married Kushner? Who knows, I sure as hell do not.

Fun fact: Hitler was never elected but selected by Hindenburg
The absence of an effective government prompted two influential politicians, Franz von Papen and Alfred Hugenberg, along with several other industrialists and businessmen, to write a letter to Hindenburg. The signers urged Hindenburg to appoint Hitler as leader of a government "independent from parliamentary parties", which could turn into a movement that would "enrapture millions of people".[147][148]
Hindenburg reluctantly agreed to appoint Hitler as chancellor after two further parliamentary electionsin July and November 1932had not resulted in the formation of a majority government. Hitler headed a short-lived coalition government formed by the NSDAP and Hugenberg's party, the German National People's Party (DNVP). On 30 January 1933, the new cabinet was sworn in during a brief ceremony in Hindenburg's office. The NSDAP gained three posts: Hitler was named chancellor, Wilhelm Frick Minister of the Interior, and Hermann Göring Minister of the Interior for Prussia.[149] Hitler had insisted on the ministerial positions as a way to gain control over the police in much of Germany.[150]

You owe it to yourself to educate yourself on Hitler, IMO. Yes, Trump bears a lot of similarities to Mussolini. Mussolini wasn't AS evil as Hitler. totally agree
Releasing a BS memo is bad enough.
INVESTIGATING THE FBI AND DOJ???? Come on people, this is not America. This is way too close to the Communist witch hunts of the 1940's and 1950's, except that this time they are looking for HONEST GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.
What will it take to really shock people ? Trump taking a small militia down to DOJ and FBI with firearms to blow them away with Fox News cameras rolling ? "Our Leader Trump protecting the Republik!!!!"
I exaggerate but wtf people.

No need to even write a post. Just rec it.
This kind of BS is junta stuff, banana republic stuff, 3rd world-dictator crap and yes, Russian and Putin crap.
If we (as the American people) don't roundly condemn Nunes and the GOP for this and send them to political purgatory forever, we are in deep shit. This didn't even occur in Watergate. To my knowledge, in 229 years of the USA Constitution existing and being implemented, this has NEVER occurred.
I do my best not to overreact to GOP BS, because there's just so much of it. This..this...this...went WAYYYY over the line IMHO.
ETA: With all due respect to all here, the SOTU "controversy" is the political equivalent of "oh did you see that dress she wore last night at the Grammy's ?!" I could not care less.
If you were also freaked out by Nunes et al going after DOJ and FBI, just rec my post...
