Salma Hayek claims Weinstein threatened to kill her

https://pagesix.com/2017/12/13/salma-hayek-claims-weinstein-threatened-to-kill-her/?_ga=2.218145113.1167792455.1513190345-1981464522.1513190345

Salma Hayek came forward in an op-ed in the New York Times with stories of how she had to repeatedly tell Harvey Weinstein “no.”

Hayek, 51, revealed she was urged by friends, including Ashley Judd, to open up about her experiences with the Miramax mogul, but didn’t because she thought she had “brainwashed” herself “into thinking that it was over” and that she “survived.”

While working on Miramax’s “Frida,” for which she earned an Oscar nomination, Hayek learned her good friend Weinstein, 65, wasn’t the person she thought he was.

“I was so excited to work with him and that company. In my naïveté, I thought my dream had come true. He had validated the last 14 years of my life. He had taken a chance on me — a nobody. He had said yes,” Hayek wrote. “Little did I know it would become my turn to say no.”

"identifying potentially criminal behavior"

https://www.techspot.com/article/1534-civilization-20-next-gen-technologies/page2.html

'Alibaba City Brain' in Hangzhou, China - Created in collaboration with more than a dozen companies including Foxconn and HTC, Alibaba's Brain 1.0 uses deep-learning and AI to track commutes, purchases, social media and other interactions for optimizing city functions such as managing Hangzhou's traffic lights to keep transportation moving and accidents down, or identifying potentially criminal behavior.

Hmm. Pre-crime, anyone ? Minority Report ?

A very interesting article.

Reports Of Heavy-Handed Voter Suppression In Alabama Senate Election

https://twitter.com/1st_infantry/status/940709557214556162

https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/reports-of-heavy-handed-voter-suppression-in-alabama-senate-election/

On the day of a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, voters are reporting various forms of procedural roadblocks that many suggest rise to the level of voter suppression.

In a tweet sent early this morning, software engineer and web designer Brittany Melton noted that she’s voted at the same polling location in Alabama for her entire life.

On occasions when she lived elsewhere, she says, Melton either traveled back home to vote or used an absentee ballot–the former she used twice. For today’s election, she says, Melton chose the homecoming option.

Now, maybe information about Melton’s historical voting habits appears a bit banal in light of the unchecked drama that’s been unfolding since the beginning of the campaign to fill Sessions’ seat. It’s not.

Treasure Trove of AACS 2.0 UHD Blu-Ray Keys Leak Online

https://torrentfreak.com/treasure-trove-of-aacs-2-0-uhd-blu-ray-keys-leak-online-171211/

A massive list of 72 AACS 2.0 keys is circulating on the Internet, allowing people to rip previously well-protected UHD Blu-ray discs. The leak is a massive setback for Hollywood and the licensing company AACS LA, who have done everything in their power to keep UHD discs secure.

Nowadays, movie buffs and videophiles find it hard to imagine a good viewing experience without UHD content, but disc rippers and pirates have remained on the sidelines for a long time.

Protected with strong AACS 2.0 encryption, UHD Blu-ray discs have long been one of the last bastions movie pirates had yet to breach.

This year there have been some major developments on this front, as full copies of UHD discs started to leak online. While it remained unclear how these were ripped, it was a definite milestone.

Nafissatou Diallo (maid in DSK case) has a restaurant in the Bronx

NYT:

As the news media again turns its attention to Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former leader of the International Monetary Fund who is on trial in France on accusations that he participated in a prostitution ring, the woman who accused him of sexual assault in New York City in 2011 has quietly resumed her life, this time behind the counter of a West African restaurant in the Bronx.

Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel housekeeper who accused Mr. Strauss-Kahn of attacking her in his suite at the Sofitel Hotel, opened the storefront restaurant, Chez Amina Restaurant, on Boston Road last year, according to a worker there. A Facebook page for the restaurant says it officially opened on May 16. Chez Amina serves burgers, salads and soups along with savory West African specialties like fish and rice stew, from 5 a.m. to 3 a.m. every day.

Its regular customers include taxi drivers, who carried out steaming silver tins, and West African immigrants from the neighborhood who settled into platters at tables outfitted with A1 steak sauce and white porcelain sugar bowls. “Everything is good,” said Cisse Elhe, 52, an immigrant from Senegal who orders from the restaurant every week.

For most of Tuesday, Ms. Diallo was nowhere to be seen after an article about the restaurant appeared in the French media. A half-dozen journalists camped out for hours in Chez Amina’s red leather banquettes and wooden chairs, hoping for a glimpse of Ms. Diallo.
