KaBoom! (Florida) Man set off military type explosive on another man's car

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/strange/floriduh-blog/sfl-flduh-explosive-mans-car-20140324,0,3334093.story

Here's a SIM-ply BOMB-bastic way of making a point.

Aaron Nesbitt, 29, of DeBary was allegedly angry with an Orange City man who took his cellphone and returned it ... without the SIM card, cops said, reports The Daytona Beach News-Journal.

So Nesbitt reportedly went to the parking lot of the restaurant where his nemesis was working and placed a military artillery simulator explosive, an M-21 — a devise that produces a flash, noise and concussion -- .on the hood of the man's car.

Can he hear him now?

Google Glass to feature Ray-Ban, Oakley frames

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/google-glass-to-feature-ray-ban-oakley-frames/2014/03/24/e273c924-b3af-11e3-bab2-b9602293021d_story.html

SAN FRANCISCO — Google is hoping to make its Internet-connected eyewear more stylish as part of a partnership with the makers of Ray-Ban and Oakley frames.

The alliance with Italian eyewear company Luxottica Group announced Monday represents Google’s latest attempt to make wearable technology look less geeky as it tries to develop new ways to ensure people can stay connected to the Internet wherever they go.

Luxottica will develop frames equipped with Google Glass, a computing device that includes a thumbnail-sized screen above the wearer’s right eye to view Internet content. The $1,500 gadget also includes a camera that can take hands-free pictures and video, a feature that has raising privacy concerns.

Google so far has only sold Glass to a select group of test subjects known as “Explorers".

Naked Florida man scares girl, 6, after having sex in Walgreens bathroom

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/naked-florida-man-scares-girl-6-walgreens-bathroom-article-1.1732088

A Florida man was collared for lewd behavior after a 6-year-old girl found him naked in a Walgreens bathroom — where he was having sex with his girlfriend.

The little girl went into the restroom of the Winter Haven store just as a nude Christopher Mahurin, 24, emerged from the stall where he was having sex with Jenna Lynn Frey, 22, about 8 p.m., police said.

Mahurin pushed the girl towards the door when she began to scream, police said. But when her father heard the yelling, he burst into the bathroom and grabbed the girl.

Cops arrived a short time later and found Mahurin and Frey sitting in a car parked in the lot outside the drugstore.

Yup, kydo was right, no time off for FloridaMan.

a rant, if you will (don't click if not in the mood to read one)

DU is a political board, first and foremost. I think we can all agree on that. Therefore, one would think people would be somewhat knowledgeable and savvy about how things work in Washington (good or bad or neutral).

When was the last time an idea went from the people and was enacted into law 100% the first time and was done so very quickly ? I'm scratching my head here. The one that pops into my head is the World War II legislation. The American people were 99% behind that (or a higher percentage than that). We had been attacked, and we wanted revenge, fast.

Come on people, reality. It's a thing in Washington. It's a thing amongst the voters. Obama got the ACA passed ! It was huge. I'm no political expert or former congresscritter or political scientist/political consultant, but geeze louise...let's not be naive people.

GOTV 2014 ! GO DEMS ! You rock President Obama !

there's so much deal-making and horse-trading that goes on to get bills passed

Yes, some bills are wildly popular and pass with no arm-twisting. ACA was NOT that way. Congress is no place for purists, unless you just want to be a bombthrower (which we at DU love including me). Obama's always had a reputation as a deal-maker for years, playing poker and cutting deals. One can frown at that kind of activity, but that, more or less, is how Congress functions. You give me this, I give you that, we're both sort of happy. That's why very little has gotten done in the last few years, because the asshole teabaggers want it 100% their way.

LBJ could literally yell in people's faces back in the 1960's, but you can't do that any more, definitely not in public.

Would I have loved for America's version of the NHS to get passed ? HELL YES. However, it was NOT possible. I know many on this board vehemently disagree with me, but we'll have to agree to disagree. NHS was partially born out of the devastation of World War II (if I read history correctly). The Brits here can correct me on that.

Give me 5% towards the final goal. Next year give me another 5%. After a while, you get 100% or damn near close to it.

President Obama via email: "I need your help" (ACA deadline)

Hey --

We're really getting close.

We've been talking a lot about health care recently. For good reason: The deadline is in just seven days.

After open enrollment ends on March 31, you won't be able to get insurance through the marketplace until 2015.

If you know someone who still hasn't signed up for health care, tell them to go to HealthCare.gov right now and sign up. This is their last chance.

Now is the time for people to get covered.

I know life is busy -- and after all the troubles with the website early on, some folks have been hesitant to give it a second chance. But the website is working great now: We've signed up more than 5 million Americans already, and more are signing up every day.

I've tasked my team with doing everything they can to get us over the finish line.

But here's what we know: People like you having conversations with your friends and family will make all the difference.

That's why I need your help -- pass this message on to one person who still needs to sign up for coverage. Tell them to go to HealthCare.gov right now and check out the options for themselves.

The deadline is in seven days. Our health is way too important to ignore -- nobody can afford to just cross their fingers and hope for the best.

Thank you for all your hard work,

President Barack Obama

P.S. -- I took some time out to answer a couple questions about health care and getting covered. Take a minute to see them here.
