DU This Fundie Blog's Poll: Do you support President Obama's declaration favoring same sex marriage?

Do you support President Obama's declaration favoring same sex marriage?
http://www.visionforum.com/news/blogs/doug/2012/05/10134/

Our side is winning.

And he's not happy about it...

Thursday, May 17, 2012
Take a good look at these poll results: Smell fishy to you?

Just before midnight last night there were under 1600 votes total on the Vision Forum poll below asking people if they support the president’s declaration supporting same sex-marriage.

The overwhelming majority of the votes (just under 90%) were in opposition to President Obama’s declaration in favor of same-sex marriage. But somewhere between midnight and 7:00 A.M. an unprecedented 21,500 plus people voted in favor of homosexual marriages, thus reversing the poll statistics to approximately 90% of Vision Forum poll participants favoring homosexual marriage, and 10% opposing. That means there was a 2000% increase in voting traffic—all most all pro-homosexual—between 1:00 AM and 7:00am.

Does this sound fishy to any of you?

Former Gov. Charlie Crist says Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer tried to extort him in 2011

Former Gov. Charlie Crist says Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer tried to extort him in 2011
Records show former Gov. Charlie Crist thought former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer was trying to extort him.

By Lucy Morgan
Tampa Bay Times Senior Correspondent

The message to former Gov. Charlie Crist from good friend and confidante Jim Greer was ominous-sounding:

“Listen I just wanted to call and tell you something as a man, not like these other people that have put knives in your back and never had the courtesy of calling you directly or talking to you.”

Just about a year after Greer was indicted on felony charges of organized fraud, theft and money laundering, Crist found the voice mail and a text message on his cell phone from the former chair of the Republican Party of Florida.

To Crist, it sounded like Greer was attempting to extort money from him and he called the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to report the messages.

Tisei looks to oust incumbent Tierney

(NECN) - The latest polls in the Mass. 6th Congressional District race reinforce why it is being closely watched on a national level.

Internal polling by Republican challenger Richard Tisei's campaign shows Tisei has a seven point lead over Democratic incumbent John Tierney, with 40 percent to Tierney's 33 percent, with 27 percent undecided.

Those results are eye-catching, since a Republican hasn't won a Congressional seat in Massachusetts since 1994.

"I think there are a lot of people out there right now who are totally receptive to some type of change and they look at what's happening in Washington, they realize things aren't getting done and this is a great opportunity," said Tisei.

But Tierney supporters say, if that poll seems too good to be true, it's because it is.

"The fact that Mr. Tisei's own pollster admitted that he manipulated the results of the poll requiring Republican voters to show up 100 percent for Mr. Tisei and then half of them to sneak back into the polls and vote again for Mr. Tisei in order to get these results," said Matt Robinson, Tierney's campaign manager.

MBTA starts useful service and the Herald won't stand for that

MBTA starts useful service and the Herald won't stand for that
By adamg - 5/16/12 - 7:07 am

Seems that when a big convention is in town, the MBTA runs special Silver Line service to the airport straight from the convention center, rather than making people carry their bags on that long walk to the nearest Silver Line stop and crowding onto a bus there.

Are you outraged? The Herald is, to the point of displacing its long-running Indian Joke of the Day series from the front page, which today features end-of-world fonts to accuse the T of stealing "all" its buses to service fat-cat conventioneers. Who, the Herald grudgingly admits, pay their fares just like rest of us - but only after the paper's crack investigative unit did some undercover surveillance:

On Friday, a Herald reporter and photographer observed people at the convention center paying regular fares to board the nonstop airport-bound Silver Line buses. The drivers did not take normal Silver Line routes or make any Silver Line stops before dropping passengers at Logan Airport. A driver said the buses provide conventioneers with rides to the airport. A bus tailed by the Herald did not follow the Silver Line’s dedicated bus route, instead driving directly to the Ted Williams Tunnel.

The horror!

This New Catholic Election Video is the Most Pretentious Thing We’ve Ever Seen

Good lord, this commercial is ridiculous! Remember voters, your ballot cast in the coming election will be recorded for all eternity! The pope says so!

On a side note, why go to the trouble of producing a $50,000 commercial and then phone it in on the actual pen that lady is voting with? A clicky Bic? Really?

Massachusetts Single-payer amendment fails by 24-15 Vote

Today, on a 24-15 vote, the MA Senate failed to pass the “single-payer” amendment (#125) introduced by Sen. Eldridge to s.2060.

As progressives, we understand that the fight for single-payer is a long one. We can be heartened today, however, that 15 Senators stood strong and stood up for single-payer health care.

We must support progressives when they take a step outside the expected. Please send an email or make a call of THANKS to these Senators for their principled stand on progressive health care reform!

Bob Mead to Resign From House Majority Leader Office (House paid mileage for GOP recruiting)

House paid mileage for GOP recruiting
State employee traveled to events
By Matthew Spolar / Monitor staff
May 13, 2012

Bob Mead, a state employee in the House Majority Office, was reimbursed by taxpayers for traveling to Republican events where he sought to recruit House candidates for this year's elections.

While it's rare that House employees file for mileage, the practice is allowed. State House veterans, however, say the purpose of Mead's activity has crossed into an ethical gray area.

"House employees should be paid with public money only for legislative - not campaign - work," said Rep. Terie Norelli, the House Democratic leader from Portsmouth.

Mead, a former state representative from Mont Vernon, was House chief of staff during Bill O'Brien's first year as speaker. In December, he was moved to a post in the House Majority Office, and rumblings at the State House indicated Mead was unhappy with the demotion. He took a $19,820 cut to his annual salary - he now makes $64,380 - and assumed a newly created position, director of legislative services.
