Ian David's JournalAtheist Christmas
Just make the first weekend in every month a three-day weekend.
Make them all "floating" vacation days. Employers would be required to give all of their workers five paid Mondays or Fridays off per year. The employees would choose which of the five they want to take.
The very name "holiday" implies that it is a "holy" day.
Get rid of them all, and replace them with my system instead.
Let's get the Teabaggers to help us help Democrats to vote.
Step 1: Find a Teabagger gun nut group in a swing state with a Photo ID law
Step 2: Convince them to organize and subsidize a campaign to get people to register for fire arms permits'
Step 3: Identify likely Democratic voters who do not have a photo ID
Step 4: Get the Teabaggers to give those people gun permits
Thanks to Sarah Silverman for the inspiration!
Worcester Voter Complaints Could Spell November Problems
In this election year, voter identification laws have been a hot-button issue. Millions will head to the polls in November. In some states like Rhode Island and New Hampshire, you need a photo I.D. in order to vote. Some worry the laws make voting harder for minorities and elderly voters.
However, in last week's primary in Worcester, MA, where no voter I.D. law exists, some voters were already having problems. Poll workers were accused of voter intimidation and voter suppression serious charges that could be a troubling sign for November, if true.

Well, THAT was embarrassing...
I was putting together a Spotify playlist in preparation for a romantic weekend with my wife, and forgot I was sharing my activity on Facebook.
Hopefully the in-laws won't notice.
Or will think I was just messing with them.
Updated to add: Just noticed that "Publish" was selected for the playlist, too. Fixed that.
They were trying to rescue him and bring him to the hospital.
Also, send them this:

Mitt's smirking disaster
Take a look at the smirk on Mitt Romney's face at the conclusion of his disastrous press conference basically accusing the president of sympathizing with the people who attacked and killed American embassy personnel in Libya:
That's the smirk of a very self-impressed man. He has no clue how deeply he's hurt himself.

Mitt Romney Breaks Pledge to Refrain From Political Attacks On Anniversary Of 9/11
On this eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., both presidential campaigns promised to hold their fire and not engage in partisan politics while Americans observed a day of remembrance. But it didnt take long for Mitt Romney to break that promise.
Romney delivered a speech before the National Guard Association Conference that was mostly bland platitudes and predictable, but vacant, praise. But at one point he veered away from his pandering to say this:
With less than two months to go before Election Day, I would normally speak to a gathering like this about the differences between my and my opponents plans for our military and for our national security. There is a time and a place for that, but this day is not it.
If you are not going to talk about politics, you dont do it by talking about how you are not going to talk about it. Romney inserted that segment into his speech to deliberately and covertly convey a message about the differences between his plans for the military and those of President Obama. Why else bring it up at an event that was supposed to be free of politics? He might just as well have said
With less than two months to go before Election Day, I would normally speak to a gathering like this about what a douchebag my opponent is and how his plans for our military are tantamount to surrendering to the enemy. There is a time and a place for that, but this day is not it. So just pretend I didnt mention it.

When the right-wingers use this to attack Obama (and they will) remind them...
... that at least Obama isn't the one who personally ran-over the police officer while not paying attention to wave to the cameras.
