White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill

White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday compared President Trump’s photo opportunity in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s examination of World War II bombing damage in 1941.

The press secretary likened the controversial walk by Trump, which was immediately preceded by police aggressively pushing peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square, not only to the famous Churchill visit but also to several notable moments in U.S. presidential history.

“Through all of time, we have seen presidents and leaders across the world who have had leadership moments and very powerful symbols that were important for a nation to see at any given time to show a message of resilience and determination,” she said, "Like Churchill, we saw him inspecting the bombing damage. It sent a powerful message of leadership to the British people.”

On Wednesday, McEnany said authorities used appropriate force in clearing the protesters, noting a statement from U.S. Park Police that described demonstrators throwing bricks and frozen water bottles at authorities.

(So the protesters were carrying frozen water bottles on them? Or did they have portable freezers? )

“I think U.S. Park [Police], when having bricks thrown at them and frozen water bottles, had the right to act,” McEnany told reporters. “They acted with the appropriate level of force to protect themselves, to protect the average citizenry and to protect the peaceful protesters who were among them as well.”

What happened to both Weather Underground and now the Weather Channel (weather.com)?

They no longer display the needed information and their radar sites take forever to load too.

Any other good weather sites out there?

Did you really think it would get this bad?

Trespassing: St. John's Bishop says Trump was on church property 'without permission'

As if the man is truly on a quest to be the most malevolent sack of crap in America, it turns out Donald Trump’s gaudy “walk” to a burned church next to the White House didn’t just come with the White House ordering the tear gassing of peaceful protesters to clear a path for the bone-spur-having fascist: Trump was trespassing on church property for the photo-op. He didn’t have permission to be there, says the Episcopal bishop responsible for St. John’s Church!

In a CNN appearance, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde blasted Trump for the grotesque stunt.

“Let me be clear: The president just used a Bible, the most sacred text of the Judeo-Christian tradition, at one of the churches of my diocese, without permission, as the backdrop to a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything that our churches stand for.”

“I am outraged,” she fumed. “The president did not pray when he came to St. John’s nor did he acknowledge the agony of our country right now.”

So Trump was trespassing on church grounds after tear gassing the crowd that had peacefully assembled there.

NPR New Zealand Now Has Just 1 Active COVID-19 Case

New Zealand is now down to only one active COVID-19 case, reaching a new level of success in its fight against the coronavirus. The last time a new case was reported in the country was more than a week ago; no one is currently hospitalized with the disease caused by the coronavirus.

snip

The news came on the same day that the country further eased its restrictions on the public. It will now permit gatherings of up to 100 people — clearing the way for weddings, parties, funerals and other large events. Restaurants can also host up to 100 people, as long as safety protocols are followed.

snip

The prime minister is credited with taking decisive and early action to minimize the coronavirus's impact on her country.

snip

That system worked well, allowing New Zealand to permit businesses and schools to reopen earlier this month.

snip

Worldwide, the four countries with the highest numbers of confirmed cases are the U.S. — with more than 1.7 million cases — followed by Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.

Barr & Trump want this violence and law breaking ...this is their Reichstag fire ...in a desperate

.... attempt to keep power. Trump/Putin/Barr are pulling out all of the stops.
Please tell me where I am wrong but are not these straight up agent provocateur
acts in order to stir up shit? We need to know who is paying these people to take
it to the next level.

And how many republicans, Fox News people, and right wing hate talkers know
what is happening and are fine with it.

Putin was KGB and this kind of social disruption and false flag operations are right
out of the KGB playbook.

The Familiar Plants and Animals That Invaded America's Landscape

https://www.discovermagazine.com/planet-earth/the-familiar-plants-and-animals-that-invaded-americas-landscape

Growing up, I loved honeysuckle. My friends and I couldn’t wait to pull at the blossoms and inhale their sweet smell. That was childhood life in crowded Midwestern suburbia. But now that I’ve spent the last 20 years surrounded by farmland, I’ve seen the dark side of bush honeysuckle, watching as my childhood favorite reaches across fence lines and chokes out our local woods.

I’ve also come to realize that many of the species I encounter every day are also not-so-friendly intruders. Those fat earthworms wriggling on my garden trowel, the honeybees buzzing in the flowers and the feral cats sheltering in my neighbor’s barn are also aliens among us. (Yep, even those sunny-faced interloping daffodils have escaped the garden gate.)

You probably encounter species every day that are not native to our shores. In general, a species in the U.S. is considered non-native if wasn’t here before European settlers arrived some 400 years ago. Today, every corner of the U.S. harbors impostors to its native ecosystems, regardless of whether they arrived on purpose or accidentally. These non-natives are considered invasive once they start to harm the environment or economy. Here are some of the most surprising offenders.

******
Add to the list of non native invasive plants: Norway Maples (Crimson King), english ivy, winter creeper euonymus, burning bush ,
privet, rose of sharon, day lily, barberry, vinca, and buckthorn.

Trump needs distractions: New Zealand discharges its last coronavirus patient from the hospital

New Zealand discharges its last coronavirus patient from the hospital

For the fifth consecutive day, there are no new cases of COVID-19 cases in New Zealand, ministry of health officials announced on Wednesday. The positive metrics do not end there – there are also no COVID-19 hospitalizations in the country, following the discharge of a patient from Middlemore Hospital in Auckland.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, officials shared the hopeful statistics. The total number of recovered cases is now at 1,462, and there are just 21 remaining active cases of COVID-19.

The country has conducted a total of 267,435 coronavirus tests and contact tracers are working to monitor the remaining cases through the NZ COVID Tracer app.

New Zealand's final coronavirus hospitalization was discharged and there are only 21 remaining active cases of COVID-19, public health official Ashley Bloomfield said on Wednesday.

New Zealand also launched another app on Wednesday, which will provide health care professionals with access to information on the updated case definition, on local clinical pathways, and on guidance around use of personal protective equipment.

Bethel School District wrestling coach fired over social media post about George Floyd

Source: KIRO 7

The Bethel School District told KIRO 7 on Thursday that it has fired a first-year high school wrestling coach after investigating a social media post that showed him on the ground with a knee on the back of his neck as he smiles and gives a thumbs-up.

"We have completed our investigation. Dave Hollenbeck is no longer employed by the Bethel School District. His behavior was not consistent with our equity initiatives and nondiscrimination policies,” said district spokesman Doug Boyles.

The post was in reference to George Floyd, who died Monday after Minneapolis police pinned him to the ground with a knee to the neck. Viral video showed Floyd pleading that he could not breathe.

“This is for all the race baiters and people that don’t What (sic) they’re talking about when they’re saying that this could kill you,” read the Facebook post, which appeared to have since been deleted from the coach Dave Hollenbeck’s page.
