Sanders Did Even Better in Colorado Than Reported, But No One Told Him

Bernie Sanders supporters cheered when their candidate won the Colorado caucuses by a sizeable margin—59 to 40 percentage points—on Super Tuesday last month, reportedly picking up 38 pledged delegates to rival Hillary Clinton's 28.

Now, they have more to celebrate. An apparent "error" on the part of that state's Democratic Party could widen that lead even further, the Denver Post has revealed, which would hand Sanders the Colorado delegation.

The Post reported Tuesday that the Colorado Democratic Party admitted this week to "misreporting" the March 1 caucus results from 10 precinct locations.

Adding to the controversy, the newspaper notes that the mistake "was shared with rival Hillary Clinton's campaign by party officials but kept from Sanders until the Post told his staff Monday night."

The Post reports:

The mistake is a minor shift with major implications. The new projection now shows the Vermont senator winning 39 delegates in Colorado, compared to 27 for Clinton.

Even if Clinton wins all 12 superdelegates in the state, Sanders can finish no worse than a split decision. It contrasts with prior projections from the Post, Bloomberg Politics and The Associated Press that indicated Clinton would probably win the majority of the 78 delegates in Colorado because of her support from party leaders with superdelegate status.

If he lands one Colorado superdelegate — two are still undecided and others are facing significant pressure — Sanders could win the state's delegation.

"We are obviously pleased to essentially narrow the delegate lead by two delegates, one up and one down, it's a zero sum game," Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told the Post in an interview.

HOW TO LET GO OF THE WORLD AND LOVE ALL THE THINGS CLIMATE CAN’T CHANGE

PITTSBURGH, PA

CARNEGIE LECTURE HALL

IN OAKLAND

FREE TO THE PUBLIC!

(Pittsburgh, PA) Josh Fox, director of the 2011 Academy Awardnominated and Emmywinning documentary “Gasland,” will present a free screening of his upcoming film, How To Let Go Of The World And Love All The Things Climate Can’t Change, Wednesday, April 13, at the Carnegie Museum’s Lecture Hall in the Oakland section of the city. Nationally known anti-fracking activist, Tim DeChristopher will join Josh Fox for the presentation.

Josh Fox continues, in his deeply personal style, investigating climate change – the greatest threat our world has ever known. Traveling to 12 countries on 6 continents, the film acknowledges that it may be too late to stop some of the worst consequences and asks, “What is it that climate change can’t destroy? What is so deep within us that no calamity can take it away?”

“Touring with the Gasland films for almost 8 years now, I’ve seen the power organized communities have,” said Fox. “That’s why we’re bringing this film to communities like Pittsburgh. This is the front lines of climate change. We know if we’re going to keep global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius, we can’t frack for oil and gas, we can’t build pipelines and power plants that will keep us burning fossil fuels for 50 more years. That change is going to happen at the community level.”

“Having both Josh Fox and Tim DeChristopher here in Pittsburgh will be inspirational and energizing,” said Briget Shields, a volunteer Outreach Coordinator at Marcellous Protest, for the Pittsburgh screening. “We’re grateful to have their powerful voices bring their message on Climate Change to Pittsburgh.”

We’re out of time on climate change. And Hillary Clinton helped get us here...

(Opinion, Ref: The Guardian)
by Naomi Klein
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/apr/07/out-of-time-climate-change-hillary-clinton

The problem with Clinton World is structural. It’s the way in which these profoundly enmeshed relationships – lubricated by the exchange of money, favours, status and media attention – shape what gets proposed as policy in the first place.

For instance, under the Clintons’ guidance, drug companies work with the foundation to knock down their prices in Africa (conveniently avoiding the real solution: changing the system of patenting that allows them to charge such grotesque prices to the poor in the first place). The Dow Chemical Company finances water projects in India. (Just don’t mention their connection to the ongoing human health disaster in Bhopal, for which the company still refuses to take responsibility.). And it was at the Clinton Global Initiative that the airline mogul Richard Branson made his flashy pledge to spend billions solving climate change (almost a decade later, we’re still waiting, while Virgin Airlines keeps expanding).

How ‘Citizens United’ is helping Hillary Clinton win the White House

Reforms wait as Democrat's allies target GOP with super PACs, ‘dark money’

Indeed, a Center for Public Integrity investigation reveals that Clinton’s own election efforts are largely immune from her reformist platform. While Clinton rails against “unaccountable money" that is “corrupting our political system,” corporations, unions and nonprofits bankrolled by unknown donors have already poured millions of dollars into a network of Clinton-boosting political organizations. That’s on top of the tens of millions an elite club of Democratic megadonors, including billionaires George Soros and Haim Saban, have contributed.

I’ve known Hillary Clinton since she was 19 years old, and have nothing but respect for her. In my view, she’s the most qualified candidate for president of the political system we now have.

But Bernie Sanders is the most qualified candidate to create the political system we should have, because he’s leading a political movement for change... (RR)
