Republican Congresswoman Says The Deep State Is Responsible For Ben Carsons Ethics Problems

Claudia Tenney (R-NY), it was the “deep state” that tried to buy that $31,000 table for Ben Carson’s office. She says no way did Ben Carson know anything about it. This is just plain crazy, even by Republican standards.

On Wednesday, the Daily Beast reported that Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) is trying to give HUD Secretary Ben Carson cover by blaming his current ethics problems on the “deep state.”

Tenney recently made an appearance on an upstate New York local radio program, Talk! of the Town. And she was asked about Ben Carson’s decision to buy a $31,000 dining table for his office. Tenney said that the whole “Ben Carson story is so misunderstood.” Then she blamed the entire situation on the so-called deep state.

“First of all, I like Ben Carson a lot. I think he’s really trying to do a great job there. But…somebody in the Deep State, it was not one of his people apparently, ordered a table, like a conference room table or whatever it was for a room. And that’s what the cost was. Ben Carson tried to- he said, “you know how hard it is to turn it back because of the way that the procurement happens?””

So, once again the party of personal responsibility refuses to take responsibility for a screw up. 😠

From 'Little Marco' to 'Cryin' Chuck,' all hail Melania Trump's cyberbullying campaign

As First Lady Melania Trump embarked on her campaign to tackle cyberbullying, luminaries from across the nation cheered her on with the same level of respect her husband has shown them.

“Little Marco” Rubio, “Crooked Hillary” and captured coward prisoner of war John McCain nodded in approval. "Low Energy" Jeb, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren and “Lyin’ Ted Cruz” were equally impressed with the first lady's keen understanding of how bullies are the most insecure and desperate people in society, with many also being impulsive narcissists.

Given the remarkable level of restraint and dignity President Bone Spurs has shown in conducting his life and presidency, it was heartwarming to see his third wife with her well-manicured finger on the pulse of cyberbullying victims. So real. So sincere. And, like her husband, so brave.

<snip>

But let's get serious. When a cyberbully creates a Twitter account with 49 million followers (millions of them fake Twitter “bots”) for the sole purpose of cyberbullying political opponents and critics, those thousands of fake reply notifications give the false impression that the target of the bullying faces huge levels of opposition. Conversely, the notifications falsely paint the one favored by the fake accounts as enjoying more support than he actually does.

As Americans become more educated, the GOP is moving in the opposite direction

Americans are pursuing higher education at growing rates, but those without a college education are increasingly finding a home in the GOP.

According to new data released by the Pew Research Center, higher educational attainment is increasingly associated with Democratic Party affiliation and leaning:

“In 1994, 39% of those with a four-year college degree (no postgraduate experience) identified with or leaned toward the Democratic Party and 54% associated with the Republican Party. In 2017, those figures were exactly reversed.”

More than half of registered voters who identify as Democrat have a bachelor's degree, while fewer than 4 in 10 registered voters who identify as Republican have a bachelor's degree.

Britain accuses Russia of secretly stockpiling deadly nerve agent used in attack

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Sunday that Russia has been stockpiling the deadly nerve agent used to poison a Russian former double agent in England and has been investigating how such weapons can be used in assassinations.

Britain has said Russia used the Soviet-era nerve agent called Novichok to attack Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the first known offensive use of such a weapon on European soil since World War Two. Russia has denied any involvement.

"We actually have evidence within the last 10 years that Russia has not only been investigating the delivery of nerve agents for the purposes of assassination, but has also been creating and stockpiling Novichok," Johnson told the BBC.

The identification of Novichok as the weapon has become the central pillar of Britain's case for Russia's culpability in the poisoning. Britain and Russia have each expelled 23 diplomats over the attack as relations between the two countries reach a post-Cold War low.

Trump is perfecting the art of the Big Lie

We all know President Trump lies. A lot. The Post reports that he began his presidency by making an average of 4.9 false or misleading statements a day. Lately, like a Stakhanovite, he has ramped up production to an average of six falsehoods a day. But few of these lies were as chilling as the one last week at a fundraiser in Missouri.

The president recounted how Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had told him that the U.S. doesn’t have a trade deficit with his country. Trump said he contradicted Trudeau — “Wrong, Justin, you do” — even though “I didn’t even know. … I had no idea.” When Trudeau insisted, “We have no trade deficit,” Trump replied: “I don’t believe it.” He then called in an aide who supposedly told him that the U.S. has no trade deficit with Canada — but only if you don’t count energy and timber. “?‘And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year,’?” Trump quoted the aide as saying. “It’s incredible.”

It’s incredible, all right, as in literally not credible. Trump’s own U.S. trade representative reports that the United States has a $12.5 billion trade surplus with Canada, and that includes energy and timber. But Trump didn’t back down: He insisted that his “alternative facts” were superior to actual facts.

On Thursday, the president tweeted: “We do have a Trade Deficit with Canada, as we do with almost all countries (some of them massive).” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was sent out to do a full Spicer by dutifully saying, without a scintilla of substantiation, that “there are plenty of things, once you take into the full account of all of the trade between the two countries, that show that there is actually a deficit.”
