Lewandowski dropped by speakers bureau after remarks about girl with Down syndrome

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was dropped from his speakers bureau after he refused to apologize for mocking a story about a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome who was separated from her family at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Leading Authorities Inc. cut ties with Lewandowski on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

Lewandowski drew considerable backlash after his Tuesday appearance on Fox News, when former Zac Petkanas, a former rapid response director for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign, discussed a Wall Street Journal report about a child with Down syndrome being separated from her parents. Lewandowski dismissed the story by saying, "Womp, womp."

Chicken Cordon Bleu Lasagna

I found this recipe online and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. The only tweak I made to the recipe was to add a little sour cream to the sauce. For ease of assembly, I mixed the meats and the sauce together instead of layering them. I reserved enough sauce for a topping and then sprinkled with a little shredded Italian cheeses. The next time I make it, I'll add a layer of steamed broccoli or asparagus.

9 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package directions
4½ cups cooked and chopped chicken, grilled or rotisserie chopped
1½ cups cooked and diced ham
1½ - 2 cups cooked and chopped bacon
3 cups Swiss cheese, grated
SAUCE
½ cup butter
½ cup flour
4 cups milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white pepper
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
Instructions
In a large saucepan melt butter and add flour. Cook for 1 minute and then slowly add milk. Add garlic powder, garlic salt, salt and pepper. Stir with a whisk and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Stir in cream cheese and continue to stir until smooth. Remove from heat.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
TO ASSEMBLE
Place 3 lasagna noodles on the bottom of the pan.
Layer ⅓ of the chicken over the noodles.
Next layer ⅓ of the ham.
Pour ⅓ of the sauce over the ham.
Next sprinkle ⅓ of the cheese over the sauce
Finally sprinkle ⅓ of the bacon over the cheese.
Repeat 2 more times.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 60 minutes.

Separations of children, parents at U.S. border could be permanent: Former immigration director

The former acting head of U.S. immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) under the Obama administration says President Donald Trump’s new zero-tolerance policy that separates families seeking to claim asylum does nothing to secure America’s borders.

“What you’re seeing now is an intentional and systemic approach to separating parents from their children in order to try to deter additional people from Central America from coming,” John Sandweg said.

<snip>

“When we talk to kids and families they tell us ‘I will die if I stay in my country and I may die if I make the journey,’” Jennifer Podkul from Kids in Need of Defense told Global News.

“When you’re facing odds like that you’re going to continue taking risks even if it means being taken away from your children because at least your children will be alive.”

Senate Votes to Reinstate Penalties on ZTE, Setting Up Clash With White House

WASHINGTON — The Senate voted on Monday to reinstate tough penalties on ZTE, a Chinese telecom company accused of violating American sanctions, in a sharp rebuke of the Trump administration’s handling of the matter that almost ensures a rare showdown between Republican lawmakers and the White House.

The measure, pushed by senators from both parties, was tucked into a voluminous annual defense policy bill that passed the Senate Monday evening by a vote of 85 to 10. The provision would undo an agreement the Commerce Department recently reached that would allow ZTE to remain in business in exchange for paying a $1 billion fine, replacing its senior leadership and installing American compliance officers. The ZTE deal came over vociferous objections from lawmakers, who accused President Trump of putting national security at risk by allowing a company that violated American sanctions to remain in business.

Mr. Trump instructed the Commerce Department last month to look into easing penalties that barred ZTE from buying American products for seven years after President Xi Jinping of China personally asked him to save the company.

The Senate vote was an unusual act of independence for a Republican-controlled Congress that has shown little interest in publicly crossing the Trump administration, even on issues where it disagrees with the president.

BREAKING: New Quinnipiac poll finds that Americans oppose the separation of children and parents by a margin of 66% - 27%, but Republicans support it by a margin of 55% - 35%.

My only conclusion: 55% of Republicans are Evil!

What's Really Happening When Asylum-Seeking Families Are Separated?

Everyone involved in U.S. immigration along the border has a unique perspective on the new “zero tolerance” policies—most notably, the increasing number of migrant parents who are separated from their children. Some workers are charged with taking the children away from their parents and sending them into the care of Health and Human Services. Some are contracted to find housing for the children and get them food. Some volunteers try to help the kids navigate the system. Some, like Anne Chandler, assist the parents. As executive director of the Houston office of the nonprofit Tahirih Justice Center, which focuses on helping immigrant women and children, she has been traveling to the border and to detention centers, listening to the parents’ stories. We asked her to talk with us about what she has been hearing in recent weeks.

Looking for a quick breakfast recipe? Try Breakfast Pizza.

I cobbled several recipes together to come up with this and it has been a hit with family and co-workers.

For those of you, like myself, who don't make your own pizza dough, use premade pizza dough that comes in a tube, like canned biscuits.

Preheat oven to 400F. Lightly spray a pizza pan or other baking pan and press dough onto pan, building edges up slightly. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until very lightly browned.

In the meantime prepare your toppings. You can use a variety of meats and vegetables that you have on hand. On my latest pizza, I browned 1/2 lb. breakfast sausage, and a couple of strips of bacon that I cut into small pieces. I mixed this with chopped scallions, sliced mushrooms and diced green pepper that I had in the fridge. About two cups or so of filling makes a substantial pizza. Spread evenly over partially baked crust. Beat 2-3 eggs, season with salt and pepper and drizzle evenly over the pizza filling. Top with a couple of handfuls of shredded cheese of your choice and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until egg is cooked and crust is well browned.

This is a great way to use up little dabs of leftover meats and veggies that are hanging out in the fridge. I also think this would make a great camping meal if made in a dutch oven.
