What Trump Is Doing Is Not O.K.

Thank God for the resignation in shame by Mike Flynn, President Trump’s national security adviser. And not just because he misled the vice president and engaged in deeply malignant behavior with Russia, but, more important, because maybe it will finally get the United States government, Congress and the news media to demand a proper answer to what is still the biggest national security question staring us in the face today: What is going on between Donald Trump and the Russians?

Sorry, Kellyanne Conway, I am not ready to just “move on.”

Every action, tweet and declaration by Trump throughout this campaign, his transition and his early presidency screams that he is compromised when it comes to the Russians.

I don’t know whether Russian oligarchs own him financially or whether Russian spies own him personally because of alleged indiscreet behavior during his trips to Moscow. But Trump’s willingness to attack allies like Australia, bluster at rivals like China, threaten enemies like Iran and North Korea and bully neighbors like Mexico — while consistently blowing kisses to Russian President Vladimir Putin — cannot be explained away by his mere desire to improve relations with Moscow to defeat the Islamic State. And the Flynn ouster gives our government another, desperately needed opportunity to demand the answers to these questions, starting with seeing the president’s tax returns.

Do You Hear the Silence?

Elijah Cummings Slams Republicans for Lack of Oversight of Trump and Flynn

Following declarations made by the Republican chairmen of the House Oversight and Intelligence Committees this morning that they wouldn’t be conducting any additional probes into the Trump administration surrounding the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) ripped into them.

Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, highlighted the silence coming from those in power to investigate President Donald Trump and Flynn.

“Let me begin by asking everyone in this room a very simple question,” he said. “Do you hear that? Do you hear the silence?”

Cummings continued, “This is a town of House Republicans conducting no oversight of President Trump. Zero. That is what it sounds like when they abdicate their duty under the Constitution.”

Federal Ethics Agency Site Crashes on Day Trump Adviser Plugs Ivankas Duds

Source: NBC News

It may be a sign of the Trump times.

The website of the Office of Government Ethics, or OGE — a federal agency whose job it is to help presidents and the executive branch avoid conflict of interests — crashed Thursday because of "an extraordinary volume of contacts from citizens about recent events."

While the OGE didn't specify the "recent events" in the five tweets it posted on its Twitter feed, the computer crash came as President Donald Trump's trusted counselor was hit with criticism for plugging Ivanka Trump's clothing line on a television show.

A word of advice from Martin Luther King Jr.s daughter: Resist!

The daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. has shared on social media a list of tips, apparently aimed at those who look to push back against President Trump’s administration.

The post cautioned against spreading “fake news” and urged a positive message. Referring to Trump, it mentioned using “his name sparingly” and remembering that “he’s not acting alone.”

“Focus on his policies, not his appearance and mental state,” read one tip.

“When you post or talk about him, don’t assign his actions to him, assign them to ‘The Republican Administration,’ or ‘The Republicans,'” the post stated. “This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don’t like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.”

No Gday, mate:

On call with Australian prime minister, Trump badgers and brags

It should have been one of the most congenial calls for the new commander in chief — a conversation with the leader of Australia, one of America’s staunchest allies, at the end of a triumphant week.

Instead, President Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.

At one point Trump informed Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that “This was the worst call by far.”

The man is insane.

State Dept. Officials Should Quit if They Disagree With Trump,

White House Warns

Department are circulating a so-called dissent cable, which says that Mr. Trump’s executive order closing the nation’s doors to more than 200 million people with the intention of weeding out a handful of would-be terrorists will not make the nation safer, and might instead deepen the threat.

“These career bureaucrats have a problem with it?” Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, told reporters. “They should either get with the program or they can go.”

It was yet another stark confrontation between the new president, who is moving swiftly to upend years of policies, and a federal bureaucracy still struggling with the jolting change of power in Washington. There is open hostility to Mr. Trump’s ideas in some pockets of the government, and deep frustration among those enforcing the visa ban that the White House announced the order without warning or consulting them.

Conway: When will reporters who 'talked smack' be fired?

And DT's war with the press continues.

Kellyanne Conway in an interview Sunday slammed the media, asking when network reporters will be fired over their coverage of the Trump administration.

"Who is cleaning house? Which one is going to be the first network to get rid of these people, the people who think things were just not true?" Conway asked on "Fox News Sunday."
"I went on three network shows and spoke for 35 minutes on three network Sunday shows. You know what got picked? The fact that I said 'alternative facts,' not the fact that I ripped a new one to some of those hosts that they never cover the facts that matter," Conway said.
"Not one network person has been let go. Not one silly political analyst and pundit who talked smack all day long about Donald Trump has been let go," she added. "I'm too polite to mention their names, but they know who they are, and they are all wondering who will be the first to go. The election was three months ago. None of them have been let go."

Why does DT find it necessary to turn all of his EO's to the cameras

to show off his signature. Have other Presidents done this and I just never noticed?
