DSantis in treating Disney like a punching bag proves one thing

to corporations: they can promote democracy and maybe pay some level of taxes (probably under 30%); they can promote authoritarianism and have no freedom of thought or action or money (because authoritarianism corrupts). You choose.

Donald Trump speaks Friday at the Moms for Liberty Summit in Philadelphia. (Hannah Beier for The Washington Post)

"SNIP.........

The past few months have not done much to dissuade Elon Musk from the idea that he knows more about everything than everyone. So those who managed to use the crumbling Twitter ecosystem this weekend would probably not have been surprised to see the jack of all trades weigh in on who he thinks should help guide civilization forward.

“The childless,” he wrote in response to a tweet, “have little stake in the future.”

Another user, one with a check mark next to their username, picked up the idea.

“Democracy is probably unworkable long term without limiting suffrage to parents,” they wrote, earning a “Yup” from Musk.

.........SNIP"

Applegrove:

So Musk is trying to fluff up astroturf parents movement by love-bombing parents into thinking they are more special Americans whose vote is more important?

My point was that gun crime is rising in red states and that is killing people in the Democratic

voting cities mostly. I did not see you refute that.

Red states have loosened gun laws. They have more crime now.

But the crime is taking place in cities (loose gun laws + cities= more gun crime deaths). Cities vote Democratic.

But he copies Trump policies or goes to the right of the former guy.

Shhhhhhhhh! Don't tell DeSantis the MAGA base don't care about Trump's policies. Remember Trump was voted in in 2016 with no GOP policy slate other than making defence harder for Ukraine. He got elected President in 2016 because people thought he was partly a liberal New Yorker, albeit a racist one. He got elected because of his entertaining speeches and his "charisma" that goes through the TV screen. MAGAS feel they have a personal relationship to him. If Trump is gone, so is the MAGAs real reason for voting GOP.

By censoring Adam Schiff, the right wing nuts are making an example

people who stand up for democracy. It used to be that the corrupt were made example of by Democracy. Here's hope that we go back to only the corrupt being made example of by Democracy some day soon. I see Lake is being sued by someone she scapegoated for her election "win" loss. That is important.

It is like scissor- paper - rock

Only it is Democracy - Science - Corruption

Corruption can destroy Democracy by loosening the human construct bonds that Democracy depends on. Democracy lays the foundation for good arts & sciences and funds it. Science hurts corruption by exposing it (law enforcement techniques, accounting, journalism, psychology, history, intelligence, academia, NGOs). No wonder the GOP are anti-vaxxers and picked that up as a conspiracy theory when Putin pushed it.. The corrupt are terrified of science and the verifiable truth. They needed a really strong anti science conspiracy theory.

After taking favours from oligarchs in the US, the Supreme Court could have

been blackmailed. Just have a certain person's name come up in a case could put pressure on a Justice if they had done something wrong regarding that person. Something they would not want to get out. Thank you Pro Publica and all the others who have shed light on favours given to the justices. Not that their political leanings don't have them favoring oligarchs anyways. But you never know.

Good catch. (Do the GOP want strict gun controll too)

I hope someone makes a gift or jpeg of the whole thing.

So re: Hunter Biden - Do Republicans now want jail time for all tax avoidance?

ROTFLMAO (CNN) I guess the GOP are going to give back the IRS investigation money they took from the IRS during the debt ceiling deal?
