Coronavirus: Cuomo Outlines 'Stay At Home' Rules

NEW YORK, NY — All New Yorkers who are not considered essential workers were ordered by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to stay home and not report to work as of 8 p.m. Sunday. He said this was the most drastic action he could take, after first reducing the nonessential workforce by 50 percent and then 75 percent.

"These actions will cause disruption," Cuomo said Friday at a news conference. "They will cause businesses to close, will cause employees to stay at home."

The governor signed the order in an effort to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus. There were 2,950 additional coronavirus cases in New York State as of Friday morning, bringing the statewide total to 7,102. There were new cases in 23 counties.

Cuomo emphasized that this was a statewide order made solely by him, not a county executive or a mayor.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says 75 percent of the workforce must stay home and mortgage payments will be waived for 90 days.

NEW YORK, NY — Three-fourths of non-essential New York employees will be told to work from home, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said mortgage payments will be waived for 90 days for those with financial hardships as the state ramps up measures to mitigate the health and economic impacts of the new coronavirus. Cuomo announced the latest in a series of drastic measures Thursday, adding that overdraft fees on ATMs and credit cards will also be waived.

Essential services include industries such as shipping, media, warehousing, grocery and food production, pharmacies, health care providers, utilities, banks and related financial institutions, as well as other industries critical to the supply chain.

Coronavirus: NY To Close All Restaurants, Bars, Movie Theaters

BREAKING: All casinos, movie theaters, restaurants and bars will close Monday night. Restaurants will shift to takeout and delivery.

NEW YORK, NY — All restaurants and bars in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will close Monday night, as will all casinos, gyms, and racetracks, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday. The industries will remain closed indefinitely and the governors of the three states will coordinate a reopening date. The measure is a desperate attempt to flatten the coronavirus infection curve and comes after the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended banning all gatherings over 50 people.

"We have agreed to a common set of rules that will pertain to all of our states so don't even think about going to a neighboring state," he said.

Cuomo said he believes the Northeast is the only region that has coordinated closures in the country, and said the federal government should have set up a uniform set of rules.

"We all agree there will be no crowds of gatherings over 50 people," Cuomo said.

All casinos, movie theaters, restaurants and bars will close at 8 p.m. Monday, he said. Restaurants will shift to takeout and delivery services. These establishments will be provided a waiver for carry-out alcohol. Supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations will not be affected.

"Our primary goal right now is to slow the spread of this virus so that the wave of new infections doesn't crash our healthcare system, and everyone agrees social distancing is the best way to do that," Cuomo said. "This is not a war that can be won alone, which is why New York is partnering with our neighboring states to implement a uniform standard that not only keeps our people safe but also prevents 'state shopping' where residents of one state travel to another and vice versa.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ~~~~~~~~~ For, it ends in the blink of an eye. Carpe Diem (Seize the day)!
