I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce has a collective orgasm

every time they hear a Democrat offer up that sad rationalization. So do the corporations lined up to dig their greedy hands into the BIF trough. Or maybe they just howl with laughter at us.

But what about the human beings that BBB was intended to help? I have no kids, paid my student loan, etc, so many of those programs wouldn't directly benefit me but there are MILLIONS of people that would have been helped. Millions. Human beings, not corporations. The whole damn country would move in a better direction.

I don't know why this has to be said yet again, but as always, it is the progressives who got fucked over (along with the public, btw). Progressives who were forced to compromise repeatedly to appease a couple of tools deployed by corporations and billionaires. Then after getting the will of corporations done, one of the tools pronounced BBB "dead", like no one else matters.

And apparently, that's the case. No one worked harder to support Biden and his agenda than the progressives in the House and Senate. No one. Yet the progressives are constantly smeared and expected to give in and toe the corporate line. Accepting crumbs or nothing.

Don't even start with that lame "why aren't you blaming republicans" because it is unworthy and an embarrassment to anyone trying that. We expect republicon scum to oppose anything that helps working people instead of billionaires & corporations. Not because they should, but because it is what they do. Like the sun rises in the east whether it is acknowledged or not, condemnation of, and disgust with, republicans is a given. It doesn't need to be stated in every conversation.

We also expect criticism and feeble excuses from the right on rightwing sources. It is constantly disappointing to have rightwing points expressed on a Democratic message board to defend mediocrity and slam progressives.

Because, again, it is the PROGRESSIVES who support Biden and want to work for Americans, not the republicons. Also not the "conservadems" "corporate dems" or whatever they call themselves. They're the ones who got in the way again.

One more time, and it's really simple,

The House Dems who voted against the BIF did so because Manchin/Sinema keep going back on the agreement to pass the entire package, despite progressives constantly being expected to compromise and give in while conservadems never do. Their vote DID NOT keep it from passing, had that been the case I expect Pelosi would not have let them vote against it.

Manchin/Sinema on the other hand, ARE keeping the BBB from passing. Unlike everyone else, they move goalposts and in Sinema's case refuse to clearly state what she wants. Although, their weaseling and changing do make it clear what they're working for, and it's not Biden or us.

Progressives, from The Squad to Sanders, have worked their asses off supporting Biden and the total BBB package. Manchin/Sinema are working against Biden, and frankly AGAINST Democratic values.

That is why.

They could refrain from gleefully cheerleading anti-democratic behavior.

Purposeless insulting and bashing should be prohibited. So should supporting republicons and those whose work can't be distinguished from republicons. Criticizing republicons, republicon policy, and anyone who works to advance republicon policy should be allowed.

Certain cheerleaders here don't have to criticize if they don't want to, but it's a shameful look to run around the board supporting someone who:
-Blocks minimum wage hikes
-Protects billionaires and their fortunes at the expense of the poor
-Campaigns for republicon candidates instead of the Democrat in the race
-Protects corporate tax breaks
-Protects corporate liability
-Blocks needed climate action
-Protects corporate price gouging
etc etc etc
