And we’re moving up.”
I have a few problems with this line of argument, which seems to imply that Democratic voters in the Deep South don’t reflect the larger Democratic electorate. (The remarks Thursday night echo previous comments made by Sanders and his campaign.) Consider Sanders’s reference to the term “Deep South,” which traditionally describes Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina: These are five of the only six states, along with Maryland, where at least a quarter of the population is black. Given the United States’ history of disenfranchising black voters — not to mention the importance of black voters to Democrats in November — it’s dicey for Sanders to diminish Clinton’s wins there.
But the Deep South isn’t Sanders’s only issue. His problems in the rest of the South are what really dooms him. Clinton’s largest net delegate gains over Sanders came from Texas (+72) and Florida (+68), two states that are within the South as the Census Bureau (and most other people) define it. Clinton also cleaned Sanders’s clock in Virginia and North Carolina. Overall, Clinton gained a net of 155 delegates on Sanders in the five Deep South states, but she also added 211 delegates to her margin in the rest of the region.

In addition to being important to the Democratic Party’s electoral present and future, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Texas are quite diverse. They’re diverse ideologically — Miami and Austin aren’t exactly “the most conservative part” of the country — and they’re diverse racially. They contain not only a substantial number of African-Americans but also Hispanics and, increasingly, Asian-American voters.

But overall, the math is pretty simple. Sanders is winning states that are much whiter than the Democratic electorate as a whole, Clinton is winning states that are much blacker than the Democratic electorate as a whole, and Clinton is winning most of those states that are somewhere in the middle, whether they’re in the South (like Virginia) or elsewhere (like Ohio or Nevada). That’s why she’ll probably be the Democratic nominee.
Why isn't it racist to dismiss or discount the importance of Democratic votes from the "deep south,"
knowing that the majority of Democrats in the deep south are African Americans?
If you were with them, looking them in the eye, would you tell them their votes didn't matter because they were from the South?
Why is it okay to essentially do that in a debate speech?

Bernie Sanders condemned the word choice of a campaign surrogate who used the term “Democratic whores” just seconds after mentioning the Vermont senator’s chief rival, Hillary Clinton.
Paul Song, a health care activist and staunch Sanders supporter, used the controversial phrase during a Wednesday stump speech to decry politicians who accept money from pharmaceutical companies.
Now Secretary Clinton has said that Medicare for all will never happen. Well, I agree with Secretary Clinton that Medicare for all will never happen if we have a president who never aspires for something greater than the status quo,” he told the crowd in New York City’s Washington Square Park. “Medicare for all will never happen if we continue to elect corporate Democratic whores who are beholden to big pharma and the private insurance industry instead of us.”
Sanders disavowed the comments Thursday after critics slammed the phrase as sexist, demeaning and offensive.

Sanders said that using the word "whore" was inappropriate and insensitive, and that there's "no room for language like that."
It would be nice if he could set an example for that awareness around here.
Bernie's introducer went there. He called out Hillary -- and immediately referred to
"democratic whores."
This is nothing less than hate speech against a woman candidate.
Young people are used to hearing this word used loosely. But Bernie knows that when women over 40 were growing up, this word had only one meaning. And that meaning in itself was a gendered slur against women who either had become trapped in the sex trade -- or who simply engaged in sex as freely as many men did.
But Bernie thanked his introducer for his words.
This underhanded slur is despicable and both of them should apologize. But I don't expect many of his youthful supporters to understand how deeply offensive his use of this word is, in the context of discussing his woman opponent.
ON EDIT: There exist perfectly good English language words with the same meaning as "corporate whore" that don't carry the misogynist toxins of the word "whore." They include the words "sell-out" and "shill." If that's the point you're trying to make, use those words instead and you won't be dipping your pen into toxic misogynistic ink.

UPDATE: BNR has reviewed the speech delivered by Dr. Paul Song. Song was clearly speaking about Hillary Clinton before he spoke these words:

The inference is hard to avoid.
UPDATE 2: Bernie thanked (yes, thanked) the speakers who introduced him for their “great introductions” — including Dr. Song, who referenced “corporate Democratic whores” and Hillary in the same context.

Although she had the blood of chiefs - Malawi's traditional authority figures - running through her veins, as the youngest of 12 siblings, a woman, and a mother of five, Kachindamoto never expected to become a senior chief to the more than 900,000 people.
But when the chiefs called, she says, they told her to pack her bags and go home to Dedza district, as she had been chosen as the next senior chief.
She was told that she had been chosen because she was "good with people", and that she was now the chief, "whether I liked it or not", she recalls.

Bernie may rue the day he ever said she was unqualified. And all because he didn't bother to read beyond a misleading headline, since she never said that about him -- he just thought she'd said "quote unquote" he was unqualified.

Asked whether he wanted to see a woman elected, Biden responded, "I would like to see a woman elected."
The vice president's staff then attempted to cut off discussion of the 2016 race, but Biden insisted he had "no problem" with discussing it — while making clear he would not go down "that rabbit [hole]" of offering a formal endorsement.
"The president and I are not going endorse because we both, when we ran said, 'Let the party decide.' But gosh almighty, they're both qualified," he said. "Hillary's overwhelmingly qualified to be president."
On the verge of the primary, the NY Daily News has given HRC a very strong endorsement.
This follows the New York Times endorsement in January and is well-timed to impact the primary on the 19th.

These truths about America’s most well-known public figure are long past debating among Democrats, above all in New York, the state Clinton represented in the U.S. Senate.
