Kansas City hotel manager hangs black doll from doorway in office to mock Sandra Bland
by Shaun King

Infuriating

This, ladies and gentlemen, is your America.

A white hotel manager of the Adams Mark Hotel in Kansas City hung a black slave doll from the doorway of the office with a garbage bag in an apparent mocking of the death of Sandra Bland.

In searching for eloquent words to explain this bullshit, I have few.

American racism is deep, sick, and flagrant.

In your mind, I dare you to rewind to the moment in which this asshole, a white supervisor with black employees no less, conceived the idea, gathered the materials, and proceeded to act on his instinct to do such a thing.

It's sick and this man should be charged with a federal hate crime. Termination is not enough.

Our country, sadly, is either regressing, or the outer facade is just being torn away and we're starting to see the deeper, uglier soul of this nation. Below are some of the first tweets covering the incident.

The racist nightmare that is Fox Noise in a nutshell
by LaFeminista

Spot the difference

Last year, a Nevada rancher who boasts that he doesn’t “recognize the United States government as even existing” become a hero of Fox News pundits and other conservative commentators for refusing to pay grazing fees he owes the government.

But when a black woman named Sandra Bland was forced out of her car and to the ground by a Texas police officer after she reportedly failed to signal during a lane switch and declined to put out a cigarette, Fox News thinks this is a time to lecture viewers on how to be respectful to law enforcement. Bland later died in police custody in what investigators ruled was a suicide. -

White men defending a criminal, facing down gubbmint agencies with many, many guns, good.

African American Woman armed with a cigarette, bad. The policeman was being exposed to second hand smoke for crissakes!

Gubbmint backs down from gun wielding white men, bringing back America.

African American woman dies in police custody, well she should have signaled.

Armed white men threatening murderous violence, not being trod upon.

Unarmed people of color, should obey the rules. If they die, it's their own fault.

This is what insanity and inherent racism does to you.

You can see Fox Noise at every mass murder holding its breath waiting for the skin tone of the killer to be released. If white, he will be deemed to be just another crazy kid and more guns will be needed. If a person of color, than any explanation that terrifies their audience will be good to go, Muslim extremist black panthers! Moar Gubbmint!

Armed white men threatening everyone = militia

Armed people of color = gangs.

I ask you, where in the constitution does it say that gangs should be well regulated and armed!

The outcomes of these two sagas.

Cliven Bundy is still giving the middle finger to the gubbmint.

Sandra Bland was buried.

I believe some deluded fool on SCOTUS proposed that racism was over

Every single day that goes by shows that racism is institutionalized and part of our every day culture.

The DARK Act - How dark it is...

The farmer in this clip is a brave man. I have utmost respect for him.

A Message From Neil Young -

As I write this, the dark act is up for a vote in the House of Representatives; representatives of the people. The dark act takes away the rights of those people to vote for or against things like GMO labeling in their states. It does seem ironic. If the act is passed, it will truly be a dark day for America.

Monsanto is a corporation with great wealth, now controlling over 90% of soybean and corn growth in America. Family farms have been replaced by giant agri corp farms across this great vast country we call home. Farm aid and other organizations have been fighting the losing battle against this for 30 years now.

Dairy and meat farming is done in those white sheds you see from the freeway, no longer on the green pastures of home with the old farmhouses and barns. Those beautiful buildings now stand in ruin across the country. This has happened on our watch while the country slept, distracted by advertising and false information from the corporations. Monsanto and others simply pay the politicians for voting their way. This is because of "Citizens United", a legislation that has made it possible for corporations to have the same rights as people, while remaining immune to people's laws.

Both Democratic and Republican front runners are in bed with Monsanto, from Clinton to Bush, as many government branches are and have been for years. This presidential election could further cement the dominance of corporation's rights over people's rights in America. If you have a voice you have a choice. Use it.

On the human side, the film I would like you to see tells the story of a farming family in America, but the same thing is happening around the world. It is a story that takes 10 minutes of your time to see. It is a simple human one, telling the heartbreaking story of one man who fought the corporate behemoth Monsanto, and it illustrates why I was moved to write The Monsanto Years.

The film presents a rare opportunity to hear from the source as Mr. White is one of only four farmers who is still legally allowed to speak about his case as all the others have been effectively silenced.

Thanks for reading this and I hope you look at this simple and powerful film, "Seeding Fear".

DARK Act Passes but Fight for Americans’ Right to Know Far From Over

WASHINGTON – Legislation dubbed the Deny Americans the Right to Know, or DARK, Act passed the House of Representatives today, but the fight for a more transparent food industry is only just beginning, EWG’s Scott Faber said following the vote.

EWG and other advocates of labeling genetically engineered foods, or GMOs, opposed the bill because it would strip states of the right to require labeling and effectively prevent the Food and Drug Administration from mandating a nationwide GMO labeling system.

“It’s outrageous that some House lawmakers voted to ignore the wishes of nine out of 10 Americans,” said Scott Faber, senior vice president of government affairs for EWG. “Today’s vote to deny Americans the right to know what’s in their food and how it’s grown was a foregone conclusion. This House was bought and paid for by corporate interests, so it’s no surprise that it passed a bill to block states and the FDA from giving consumers basic information about their food.”

More than 300 organizations, companies and food industry and social justice leaders oppose the DARK Act in the face of massive spending and lobbying by big chemical and food companies. Poll after poll has shown that a large majority of residents of key states and across the country support mandatory GMO labeling.

“We’re confident the Senate will defeat the DARK Act,” added Faber. “We continue to hope that thoughtful food companies that listen to their customers will work with consumer groups to craft a non-judgmental GMO disclosure to put on the back of food packaging. Americans should have the same right as citizens of 64 other countries to know what’s in their food and how it’s grown.”
