Trouble at Stone Mountain tomorrow

Just got this text from DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency on behalf of the City of Stone Mountain: The City of Stone Mountain is anticipating and preparing for 2 opposing groups of protesters whose intentions are to demonstrate at Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain Park has made the decision to close the Park on this Saturday the 15th of August. While the city have little information on what to expect during this time, out of the abundance of caution we are asking the General Public to avoid the City of Stone Mountain on Saturday August 15th beginning at 4:00am to 12:00 midnight.

GBI investigating after south Georgia police shoot at car with 5 kids under 16 inside

Source: WSAV-TV

"They were just cruising behind us without no lights, so that’s when we got down there and we came around and they had their lights on, they cut them on and they cut them off,” Amari said. “And then a car got in front of me and they got right there.”

The car then arrived to their neighborhood, where the three young children say their two older brothers told them to get out of the and go find their father.

“They let us out because they were scared so that was going to happen to us, so we got out and we started running toward the house and they just started shooting,” Amari said.

Goodman says he looked out the back door and saw three of his children, ages 9, 12 and 14, running from the police. He says he heard gunshots, then ran and found his 15 and 16-year-old sons on the ground.

Source: CBS 46

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. (CBS46) -- Back to school photos that circulating on social media from several metro Atlanta counties are facing negative attention.

Health experts say school re-openings must include effective COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, face coverings and social distancing to maximize safety. But, some Georgia students who have returned to class are not following those measures.

A photo posted on Sequoyah High School's Instagram page shows dozens of students huddled together for a back to school picture. After on-line criticism, the photo was deleted from the account

A similar picture of students outside of Etowah High School in Woodstock shows teens bunched together on a school sidewalk with no face coverings in sight.
