gejohnston's JournalWhat if Stephen Willeford grabbed a .30-30 instead of a .223?
I'm old enough to remember when (and in rural areas) lever action .30-30s were not uncommon patrol rifles as well as being popular hunting rifles. In fact, one of my cop relatives had a Marlin scabbard under his sheriff's car seat. (Yes, it was in Wyoming, but his name isn't Longmire.)
Given the worthless POS was wearing armor, and Mr. Willeford aimed his AR to avoid the kevlar plates.
My alternative history? There wouldn't be a high-speed chase with a mortally wounded thug.
A Canadian take on the subject
538 researcher's discovery about guns
Then, my colleagues and I at FiveThirtyEight spent three months analyzing all 33,000 lives ended by guns each year in the United States, and I wound up frustrated in a whole new way. We looked at what interventions might have saved those people, and the case for the policies Id lobbied for crumbled when I examined the evidence. The best ideas left standing were narrowly tailored interventions to protect subtypes of potential victims, not broad attempts to limit the lethality of guns.

What if NORML and the SAF joined forces?
How would the culture warriors deal with this?
Not a smoker myself, but I love this quote enough to give them a couple of bucks, and send an email to SAF/

MLK/Equality Day cheering up
After reading about corporate land grabs and bathroom pandering, some good news is in order. It would happen to be in the town where I had my first and only ride in the back seat of a cop car.
