LA Sheriff's department wants the public's help to find their missing beanbag gun
After driving more than 32 miles from Calabasas to the Sunset Boulevard exit of the 101 Freeway in Hollywood, the deputies -- whose names were not released -- were informed by a bystander that the cars trunk was open about 2 to 3 inches.
The only item missing: The beanbag shotgun stored inside a black canvas carrying case.
"It was inside the trunk," said Deputy Crystal Hernandez, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department. "There's a lot of equipment stored inside there."
To find the missing gun, searchers retraced the deputies route: entering the 101 Freeway in Calabasas, turning south on the 405 Freeway, exiting at the Skirball Cultural Center before returning to the northbound 405 Freeway, turning on the southbound 101 Freeway and exiting off the 101 Freeway at Sunset Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department, along with a sheriffs search and rescue team and a helicopter crew, assisted in the ultimately unsuccessful search.

Dad invites police officer to watch him spank his 12-year-old daughter
How humiliating and sick for the 12 year old.-------------------------------------------------
When a Florida father alerted his 12-year-old daughter that he planned to spank her for fighting with her sister, she told him it was against the law for him to hit her.
Dale Garcia was determined to prove his daughter wrong and called the Okeechobee County Sheriffs Office on Dec. 29, according to a police report, to ask whether he could legally hit his daughter.
A deputy arrived at the residence shortly after and told Garcia that hitting his daughter was within his rights.
(He) wanted me to stand by while he spanked her with the paddle. I stood by as (he) spanked (her) 4 times on her buttocks. Since no crime had been committed this case is closed, the officer wrote in his report.

Two weeks and society hasn't fallen apart due to a lack of parking tickets and other petty summonses

Two weeks and society hasn't fallen apart due to a lack of parking tickets and other petty summonses or the abatement in the harassment of the working class and poor. I cheer and encourage the police to continue throwing their tantrums. You'd think with the militarization of police departments across the nation - that our country was something out of Mad Max or Escape From N.Y. It's not. Their behavior with the work slowdown, makes that abundantly clear.

For more than 30 years NY State has decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana. Nevertheless, as reported in the NY Times, before the slowdown more than 50,000 in 2014 were arrested for possession of as little as one joint. the Times also reported that the issuance of tickets for riding bikes was very high in mostly Black Bedford Stuyvesant and almost non existent in mostly While Park Slope. Non of this is surprising because the unequal application of justice is a tradition that goes back to the so-called "founding fathers' of this nation and was accelerating in our city from the point of the election of Rudy Giuliani.
Thus it quite possible that the scales of justice are becoming more balanced as NYPD ceases acting as a force promoting mass incarceration for minor "infractions" in communities of color!
The media, in its limited analysis, want us to believe that these cop protest are about disrespecting Mayor de Blasio. In truth they are about certain elements in NYPD desiring to maintain the ability to be above the law and unaccountable for the brutal acts of some of its members. To them the lives of Blacks and Latinos are devalued and do not matter!
The movement to bring about a more just policing and criminal justice system is gaining strength and should be joined by all New Yorkers committed to real justice in our city.

Maine governor spent $53K in failed attempt to remove low-income young adults from Medicaid
AUGUSTA, Maine Gov. Paul LePages administration spent nearly $53,000 on private lawyers in its failed attempt to remove thousands of low-income young adults from the states Medicaid program after being told by Maines attorney general that he couldnt win the case, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press.
The Republican governor went to the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals after the federal government denied his request to end Medicaid coverage for about 6,000 19- and 20-year olds. He was forced to seek outside counsel after Attorney General Janet Mills, a Democrat, declined to represent the state.
Mills refused to represent the administration because the case had little legal merit and wouldnt be a good use of time and money, she said in an interview this month. She even joined the federal government in fighting LePages effort in court.
But she allowed the governor to hire outside counsel because of the earnestness of his position and because she said its not her aim to prevent the governor, as the chief executive, from pursuing public policy in initiatives.

“They’re attacking me because, well, I’m me.” Palin continues war of words over dog photo
Sarah Palin fired another shot in her unlikely war of words with the activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) on Monday, accusing it of hypocrisy and asserting that liberals feel no compunction about attacking even special-needs children and puppy trainers.
Palin and Peta are at odds over a photo posted on the former Alaska governors Facebook page, which shows her six-year-old son, Trig, who has Downs syndrome, stepping on the back of the familys service dog, Jill Hadassah, to reach the kitchen counter.
Kiss my okole was Palins Hawaiian-tinged response to criticism from Peta and angry online onlookers. She alerted readers to what she sees as the true obsession of such critics: Theyre attacking me because, well, Im me.
Where have [Peta] been all these years? Palin asked in a statement to NBC News, before suggesting the activists were hypocrites for having praised public figures previously accused of malfeasance toward animals.

cat caller (sexual harassment) forced to bend over and let girls smack his backside
Public punishment: Police Sub-inspector Monica Singh seized Mr Dhoni and carried out the punishment with the help of the schoolgirls in the middle of the street
He said: 'I felt shamed by standing there while these women hit me. I hadn't laid a finger on them and it is not a policewoman's job to decide who is and who is not guilty.'
But judges in Madhya Pradesh rejected his claim, saying Mr Dhoni had deserved the beating and would not have got off with a simple slap on the wrist if the courts had dealt with the case.
The ruling said: 'He had tormented his victims in public with his whistling and cat calls, and he was punished in public.
'It was very fitting.'
