Adsos Letter's JournalA SECOND PHOTO MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR THE AUGUST CONTEST
Hey all you photogs (my apologies for shouting in the subject line)
Any of you that submitted a photo for the August contest may now submit a second one if you so desire.
We currently have 15 excellent submissions. The contest limit is 30.
If you have (or can take) another image related to the theme Portals you may now enter it in the Submissions thread.
If you have yet to enter an image please consider doing so before the preliminary voting begins on August 20th.
I will be more than happy to assist anyone who would like help resizing their photo to meet the contest criteria.
This contest is open to every DU member.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I know what you're thinking DU...
You're thinking "Man, I've got this photo that I think would go great with the Portals theme in DU's August Photo Contest, but I really don't know if anyone else would like it" or words to that effect.
Please...don't let fear of denigration, or financial ruin, or hives, or any other fear stop you from entering that photo in the August contest (seriously, Skinner made us stop throwing the three least-vote getters into a volcano as a sacrifice years ago).
Enter that photo DU.
If you need any help with posting that image or with resizing it, just PM me! I am beyond happy to help.

Hey, all you DU people out there!!1!1!
The Photography Group is now running the August Photo Contest. The theme is "Portals."
This contest is open to anyone who is a member of DU.
You don't have to have a fancy camera. Many of our posts are of images captured by cellphone cameras. Creativity is what we really like to see. There is room for a broad interpretation of this theme.
If you have (or can take) a photo relating to the theme Portals, please consider entering. I will be happy to assist anyone who might need help in sizing or posting an image (I'll do it for you through my flickr account, and the images will be deleted from my account when the contest is over).
Please consider entering. The Photo Group is one of the friendliest, most supportive, drama-free groups on DU.
C'mon, I think you'll enjoy it.

SUBMISSION THREAD August Photo Contest

First, I apologize for being a day late in getting this posted. My oldest daughter just had our first grandson. It was a 10 hour drive to get here, and I've been a bit pre-occupied since I got here.
The theme for the August contest is Portals. Anything that you can associate with the term Portals. There is room for broad interpretation here.
This contest is open to every DU member.
Light editing for cropping, color correction, saturation and exposure.
Again: Please keep your entry no larger than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension and under 675K in file size. This is a requirement for entry, according to the rules of the contest. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing, just ask. I will be happy to resize photos through my flickr account if requested.

The winner of the monthly contest agrees to host the next monthly contest or recruit someone else to host the contest.
You need to post your entry in the Submission Thread. Please be sure to include a "Title" for your photograph in the Subject line of your post.
The submission thread is for photo entries only, no comments or questions. The Host will start a separate thread just for comments and/or questions.
Any threatening or disparaging comments toward the host should also be posted in the Comments Thread, not the Submission Thread.
Submissions will be limited to 30 entries maximum unless the Photography Group votes to change the limits.
CONTEST SCHEDULE:
Submissions thread will remain open thru August 20, or until we get 30 entries (whichever comes first).
Preliminary voting will run from the 21st thru the 23rd.
Final voting will run from the 24th thru the 26th.
Winners announced, and torch passed, on the 27th.
The Submission & Comment threads will be posted in the Photography Group. The Preliminary polls and Final Contest poll will be posted in GD per Skinner’s permission.
CONTEST LICENSE:
An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia or to a linked Gallery and included in a DU Calendar that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. The entrant retains all other rights to the photograph being submitted. Neither Demopedia and/or a linked Gallery may use any photograph submitted for any purpose other than to display the photograph being submitted by the entrant, and neither gains any real or implied ownership rights to the photograph.

Laura PourMeADrink's suggestion of Portals was well received by the voting public, and a great suggestion it is! Lots of room for interpretation on this one (physical, spiritual, something else) and I can't wait to see the results.

I'll be on the road for about 11 hours tomorrow, so I won't be able to open a thread for submissions until sometime on Friday.
We have some wonderful photographers on DU, and I'm sure we'll have very creative entries.
