madamesilverspurs's JournalJeeeez, pass the aspirin!
I tried. Really, I did.
Went to C-span to watch the "discussion" on Issa's contempt effort. Come to think of it, nevermind the aspirin. Pass the barf bags.

There's a first time for everything.
I just deleted one of my picture posts. I've been sharing photos of the fires causing so much devastation here in Colorado. This is a horrific time for thousands of displaced families. Hundreds of homes have been lost, growing thousands of people are now homeless, more are rightfully fearful of what tomorrow may bring.
And some decided to use one of those picture posts to cheer for the devastation to continue. Seriously. I chose to not have that kind of thing linked to my name, and opted to delete the thread.
WTF.

I got my walking papers today.
And I couldn't be happier.
A little over five years ago part of my right lung was removed for cancer. Today I sat down with the oncologist as we reviewed last week's CTscan of the lungs. He reached over, took my hand, looked me in the eye, smiled and said, "Get out of here, and don't ever come back!" Both lungs are crystal clear, no sign of cancer.
I don't often cry in front of my doctors, but I did today. Especially since we lost my sister-in-law to cancer earlier this month.
So, as is customary for me, I ask you to help me celebrate. If you can, please make a donation to any entity that researches cancer in pursuit of a cure. Or donate to Hospice. Or hug a Hospice nurse.
Now I'm off to a phone bank. I don't think the gang will mind my floating on air . . .

Cue the spooky music.
It's bad enough when the car thermometer reads 101 when it's been parked overnight in the shade. And it's not too surprising that leaving the shade and driving to the end of the block brings it up to 104, they did say that today would be a scorcher. But at one point the thing jumped to 106, then back to 104 within a couple of blocks.
It was at 104 when I got in to come home, and near the same intersection where it spiked earlier it jumped to 108. By the time I pulled into my parking space it was back to 104.
All this is within a radius of less than one mile. I'm wondering if there might be something emanating from that intersection's traffic signals that could cause the jump. Or maybe we have some weird Bermuda Triangle thing going on. Eeek.
