Nuts
Came across a package of walnut halves in my pantry, it was hiding behind a box of crackers. I remember buying it about a year ago but never opened the package, and the "use by" stamp is blurred. Is it likely that they're still okay to use?
For those not watching football
MSNBC: Previously recorded Nicolle Wallace interview with Liz Cheney.
TV guide (Comcast) shows live Rachel Maddow following, also interviewing Cheney.
Light 'em if you got 'em?
Tree is still up, awaiting a small belated celebration next week. So, of course, half the lights just went out.
Anyone know the magic incantation to reveal the guilty bulb?
pfffttt
This week's mail brought the expected holiday "greetings" from the county department of social services. They were confirming that my Social Security COLA would be offset by a commensurate decrease in SNAP benefits. So there, nyah nyah.
Bless their hearts.
So Gropert is replopping from the western slope to the eastern plains.
The thing about cowpies, once theyre plopped they just sit there and stink. Put one on a chair and no one who plans on doing anything useful will sit there, it just saves the seat for the next cowpie. That said, Colorados CD4 prefers inert cowpies and might not appreciate Groperts built-in whoopee cushion. There are other cowpies plopping into the race, after all. In the end, Gropert will stink even if she doesnt plop into Ken Bucks unused chair. CD4 neither gains nor loses with his departure. And Gropert will still stink wherever she plops.
"And it fits in your wallet"
Anyone else notice the increasing frequency of ads for Viagra and various male enhancement products? Its a bit of creepy concurrence with increasing legislative and judicial efforts to take personal healthcare choices away from women. And it wasnt all that long ago that they were freaking out about condom ads.
Hmmmm

Christmas Mass in Bethlehem
I'm not a regular viewer of EWTN, so I don't know if they ever replay anything. Here's hoping they do. I switched over to it to watch the Christmas Mass from Bethlehem. The homily was well worth listening to, as it took the words "there was no room for them" and applied that phrase to how Palestinians have been treated. The faces of the congregation showed anger, fear, pain, sorrow, doubt, anything but joy; but as the homily continued, some expressions began to show a tentative hope.
Seriously, if it replays, it's well worth a watch.
Uh huh.
Watching Joy Reid, excellent discussion about the dangerous rise of white nationalism -- and Comcast went into reboot mode (which usually happens in the wee small hours). Programs came back on just as that important discussion concluded. Skepticism, I haz it.
Upside to insomnia --
On the teevee: Cher and Tim Conway doing Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald on "Laugh In" from 1968. Wow.
