Citizens beware

October 27, 2021

Boo

From my recliner in the living room I can see the bathroom. So? During the last minutes of Maddow’s program there was a small noise, and I turned in time to see the bathroom door slamming shut. From the inside. There’s no window in there, and I don’t know anyone small enough to slither down through the ceiling vent. Hmmmm. Bravely grasping my trusty cane, I went to investigate. Turns out that the hook on the back of the door got tired of holding my heavy robe, and when it broke the robe dropped to the floor between the door and the wall and pushed the door closed. Been a while since my poltergeist acted up, seems that it’s moved on from tossing spoons around the kitchen. Yippee.

Foggy fall

A friend just shared this photo taken in Rocky Mountain National Park just as a bit of fog descended to diffuse the colors. Gorgeous, isn't it?

Having some fun, now!

Gotta love craigslist. Been spending a lot of time at home this past many months, so when this showed up I had to check into it. First, I emailed and asked if it has headphone jack (landlord rule), and it does. Then we determined that we're all vaxed and boostered, so I made an appointment to go look at it. I knew as soon as they answered the door that it was going to be good -- their entry hall and living room were filled with guitars, ukuleles, banjos, autoharps, and a couple of keyboards. He'd worked on Broadway back in the 60s, and they both looked like they'd be right at home at Woodstock.

Anyway, she explained that the organ had belonged to her mother who had recently passed, but neither of them play the organ, so they wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it. I confessed that it has been 25 years since I last played an organ, having sold mine to buy a car that turned out to get worse mileage than the Wurlitzer would have. Long story short, they were quite pleased to allow me to adopt it at no cost. It was just delivered, and when I opened the cover there was a large purple sticky note with their message of "Party on in sunshine and love!" Somehow staying at home just got a bit happier.

Time to practice!

Walmart apologizes

Yeah, yeah, I know. But they are the only local store that accepts EBT for grocery deliveries. I emailed them about some confusion with the process of yesterday's delivery, and got this email response from them:

Marching thunder

A friend sent this pic from our local women's march. Sure wish my marching days weren't behind me!
