dixiegrrrrl's JournalUS ship with armed guards detained at Tuticorin ( India); no papers authorising possession of arms
This is loaded with mystery...
a US Ship ( see link for picture of it) of contractors, with firepower, but no documentation, admits to roaming around the Arabian sea.
The crew and guards have not been able to satisfactorily explain why they had entered Indian waters, sources in defence agencies have said.
Semi-automatic weapons have been found on board the ship, but sources say, the crew has failed to produce the necessary documents required to carry such weapons.
The ship's Captain has reportedly told investigators that the guards belong to a company which provides armed escorts, especially to merchant vessels in pirate-infested areas of southern Indian Ocean as well as Gulf of Aden.

Wikileaks new release: journalist killed in Pakistan was CIA employee
This is really fascinating....
emails between Stratfor employees, which state that Pakistani government officials sanctioned the murder of the Pakistani journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad, who was kidnapped in late May and later found dead.
(Shahzad had been published in several US magazines, papers)
Reading down thru the email list is fascinating.
Mention is made that David Ignatius's new book Blood Money contains the truth:
"Suggest everyone read David Ignatius new book on CIA NOC and front
company operations in Pakistan"

Captured al Qaeda leader to be tried in United States instead of Gitmo.
Al Libi will likely stand trial in the southern district of New York, where he was indicted for his alleged involvement in the bombings of the United States embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya, in 1998.
Al Libi, 49, who was on the FBIs Most Wanted list, was captured in his native Libya Saturday by U.S. forces, according to the Pentagon.

Hmmm...new policy?
Are they waiting for all the Gitmo prisoners to die off, and not sending new ones to Gitmo?
Or is this guy different somehow?
New law to permit Turkish police to detain ‘possible’ protesters
Very creepy, hope it does not give other countries ideas:
A new regulation will allow Turkish police to detain those who possess the risk of conducting a protest from 12 to 24 hours without the demand of a prosecutor or a judge, prompting acute worries from opposition deputies.
The new regulations that will be conducted jointly by the justice and interior ministries will allow the police to detain a suspect who may hold a protest for up to 24 hours without any court decision while also increasing the penalties for resistance to police and damaging public property.
The move to strengthen police powers was precipitated by the countrywide Gezi Park protests, which began at the end of May.
Organizations which tend to hold protests will be monitored and their members could be detained by police if intelligence reports suggest they are planning to conduct a demonstration or action.
A judge will also be able to extend the 24-hour detention period if desired. Under the current law, a judges or prosecutors order is necessary to detain people in such cases.

He said:
"US has been using 'extraordinary measures' to keep paying the bills since May;
says he informed Congress that he won't have any more measures on Oct. 17"
and
"I'm telling you that on the 17th, we run out of our ability to borrow, and Congress is playing with fire - "
