Want to share a piece of heaven with y'all.
This is the view of the deck Mr. dixie built, on the east side of the house.
It frames the wild cherry tree nicely. The land slopes down to a small valley where he has built his man-cave.
taken a couple days ago, showing how pretty spring can be.
That is a ginormous magnolia tree left of the shed, been growing there for decades.
Inside Erik Prince’s Treacherous Drive to Build a Private Air Force
This is a really good detailed article on how Erik Prince lied to and used foreign companies to try to build himself a private airforce /mercenary army.
Shades of Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now
or, as one commentator remarked...."His moves are those of a psychopath on a power trip.
Using economic terrorism to cow his opponents and now wanting an air force..
Next he'll have a glass eye and a hairless cat in his arms screaming incoherently."
Guns in cars’ bill one step closer to law in Alabama
Last year, Senator Gerald Allen (R-Tuscaloosa) shepherded the bill through the Alabama Senate, but it ultimately died in the House.
No one is required to have a permit to keep a handgun in his or her house. The Castle Doctrine states vehicles are an extension of a persons home, Allen explained. Therefore, adults should have the right to carry a pistol in their car without a permit.
Supporters of Allens bill say it would ease restrictions on open-carriers and further ensure Alabamians ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights. The Alabama Sheriffs Association has opposed the bill in previous legislative sessions, saying it would make law enforcement officers jobs more difficult and could lead to more incidents of road rage. They also noted that sheriffs would lose some of the revenue they receive through pistol permits, which helps to fund their departments.
The bill now heads to the Alabama House of Representatives.
Meet Hillary's foreign policy advisor. Michele Flournoy
Foreign policy hawks have frequently commented on Flournoys militarist tendencies. For instance, in a September 2009 commentary on U.S. policy in Afghanistan, Tom Donnelly of the American Enterprise Institute wrote, Undersecretary of defense Michele Flournoy is the dictionary definition of a hawkish Democrat"
If Hillary gets elected, this is most likely the person she will be listening to re: global affairs.
Fraud alert----heads up, folks....
We just got a mailer from Global Pharmacy Plus, which says they are in Vancouver, BC
They say they sell cheap drugs, and all I need is a copy of my pill bottle label or the insert the drugstore gives with my meds, or a copy of the prescription.
The drug prices they quote are very high, tho they claim they are offering cheap prices.
Worse yet, a quick Google check shows they have been charged with fraud in Canada, which found they are really in Belize and there is no way of knowing where the pills come from, or what is in them.
Plus they have been reported to steal credit card info. AND put you on a spammer's list.

Social workers charged with child abuse in death of Palmdale Ca. boy
This is so sad for the poor victim, who was betrayed by his family AND by the system that should have helped him.
Gabriel Fernandez died two years ago in May. Prosecutors say he was the victim of repeated abuse.
The boy's mother, 31-year-old Pearl Sinthia Fernandez, and her former boyfriend, 35-year-old Isauro Aguirre, have both been charged with capital murder in Gabriel's death
Snip
A complaint for an arrest warrant filed on March 28 charges social workers Stefanie Rodriguez, 30, and Patricia Clement, 65, and their respective supervisors, Kevin Bom, 38, and Gregory Merritt, 60, each with one felony count of child abuse and one felony count of falsifying public records, according to the district attorney's office.
The district attorney's press released stated that Rodriguez and Clement are accused of falsifying reports that should have documented signs of Gabriel's escalating physical abuse, and Bom and Merritt knew or should have known that they were approving false reports that conflicted with the evidence of Gabriel's deteriorating physical well-being.
The places I worked as a Social Worker were all very serious about documenting, and made sure the legal consequences were known.
It appears that the arrested employees faked their investigation into the complaints they had received and lied in their reports.
I have not heard of Social workers being arrested for stuff like this just fired, but hope the arrests will wake up people in the field.
GM says you don't own your car, you just license it
* Cars work because software tells all the parts how to operate
* The software that tells all the parts to operate is customized code
* That code is subject to copyright
* GM owns the copyright on that code and that software
* A modern car cannot run without that software; it is integral to all systems
* Therefore, the purchase or use of that car is a licensing agreement
* And since it is subject to a licensing agreement, GM is the owner and can allow/disallow certain uses or access.
