Reporter investigating Trump dies same day as Peter Smith.

ALBANY — Journalist, author, advocate and longtime Capital Region resident Scott Christianson, whose diverse subjects ranged from the history of incarceration to runaway slaves, died suddenly on Sunday at his home in Great Barrington, Mass.
Christianson, 69, died from massive head trauma after falling down the back stairs of his home. His wife, Tamar Gordon, said the banister had given way.
Gordon described her husband as a man who combined a voracious curiosity with a deep sense of social justice — and a keen nose for a great story.

Christianson had recently begun working for the investigative unit of the McClatchy news service. Just two weeks ago, he and his McClatchy colleague Greg Gordon published a comprehensive investigation on the ties between President Donald Trump and the hedge-fund mogul Robert Mercer.

Today's takeaway: Liars slowly admit to small lies when caught, which is usually to cover up something worse.

Case in point: don Jr is working on version 3 of his Russian meeting, and all 3 veer far away from ....what if he DID actually get dirt on Clinton, and use it???
That would explain....the meeting was help during the campaign, Manafort and Kushner and obviously now Don, were actively working to get Trump elected, they were offered dirt on Trump's opposition yet did not take it??????

Here is the story behind how Junior's meeting leaked out.

Jared did not fill out his disclosure forms for security clearance adequately, as in chunks of info missing, so Feinstein and Grassley, who over see clearance in the Judiciary Comm., challenged his security clearance in a letter to the WH, requesting his complete info.
This was a few weeks ago. The letter was posted online.

Paul Manafort did not file the required info about contact with Russians during the campaign, but has since done so, and the meeting was in the filings.There is credible suspicion that he did the paperwork like Flynn did, AFTER being questioned by FBI and other investigators.
So, the meeting was finally known.

In March,the NYTimes asked Don Jr., bout any foreign contacts, he denied any, then.

but he is still lying. HE says “I was asked to attend the meeting by an acquaintance, but was not told the name of the person I would be meeting with beforehand.”

But Kushner says, same article, "this meeting with a Russian person, which he briefly attended at the request of his brother-in-law Donald Trump Jr. "
and Manafort's lawyers says. ."Mr. Manafort, the former campaign chairman, also recently disclosed the meeting, and Donald Trump Jr.’s role in organizing it,"

so, Manfort and Kushner have thrown DonJr under the bus, and Trump, who was in the Tower that day, says, thru his lawyers, he knew nothing at all about it.

The Times reported the existence of the meeting on Saturday. But in subsequent interviews, the advisers and others revealed the motivation behind it.

President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.

The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner only recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times.
