Press Release
DOGE employees may be sharing classified government information using insecure communications channels
WASHINGTON, D.C. Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01), Ranking Member of the DOGE Oversight Subcommittee, co-led a letter with U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) demanding answers after two incidents in security failures of the DOGE.gov website, and reports that DOGE employees shared sensitive government information over insecure communications channels.
Rep. Stansbury and Sen. Warren were joined by Rep. Gerry Connolly (VA-11), Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, Del. Eleanor Homes Norton (D-DC), Rep. Stephen Lynch (MA-08), Rep. Robert Garcia (CA-42), Rep. Greg Casar (TX-35), and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30).
These incidents whether due to maliciousness or incompetence are inexcusable and raise additional questions about DOGE employees access to highly sensitive personal and national security information, and what they are doing with it, wrote the lawmakers.
DOGE has seized access to highly confidential government and personal information, including tax, Medicare, Social Security, and national security data, which has already led to multiple lawsuits. In just a matter of three weeks, DOGE employees have fed sensitive data into artificial intelligence software, ordered an unauthorized email server to be connected to the government network, and have accidentally been given write access to the U.S. Treasury payment system.
DOGE employees do not appear to fully understand much of the information to which they have been given unfettered access, and given the cavalier and incompetent ways that they have handled this data, these individuals represent a clear threat to national security and the nations economy, continued the lawmakers.

Can we make this video from 2018 go viral again. C'mon DU. You know she's right.
Heck I wouldn't be surprised if she's a DU member. If she is, I'd love to hear more about her.

If you're wondering why you can't find info on 4/19 like you did for 4/5, this is why
April 5th Day of Action was round 1. Apparently round two is in the works. Spread the word.
So r/50501 is reporting the following
*Apparently news is getting posted on the 50501 Substack instead of this subreddit for some reason. Anyway, the day of protest has turned into a "day of action" as far as this org is involved. Basically, you'll have to look at your local/state 50501 organizations to see concrete info about the next protest.
It sounds like it's because organizing this was bigger than they first thought and the work was too much. So, what does this mean?
Well with the administration working constantly to undermine our judiciary, passing the SAVE act, tearing up the constitution and medicaid....
Essentially? Jack shit. Friends who weren't willing to go on the fifth are now coming with me to this one. I'm going. Don't miss out.
Spread those flyers far and wide, tell your friends and family, look into your local stuff, inform people of the situation. Mine emailed me about volunteering for 4/19, and that's in Bama, so you can definitely find one near you. Still unable to find anything? State capitol or your city hall.
4/19-a national day of protest
See you there.*

April 5th has actually had a much more serious impact than they are letting on
*copied from /50501
You may have noticed a lot of us feeling disappointed in major news organizations for failing to report on the
mass protests on April 5th. Or, there are limp articles using words like "Protests in several cities", "Hundreds of people", etc. On top of that, a lot of us are stillfeeling negative, saying things like: "Wel unfortunately it really changes nothing"; "We did good, but they're just ignoring us"; "They don't care"
However I think we've received a huge gift from them by their actions. Their response is great for us. Here's why:
April 5th was actually something they didn't care about, and something useless and weak to them, then they
would have had no problem reporting on the truth. When we see the flaccid, weak articles (or lack thereof), and hear the silence, they've accidentally revealed hidden information to us: they are desperately trying to control the narrative, which means they are absolutely panicking right now. We have power. Incredible power. They want us to believe nothing will change, because if we believe it then it's true.Let's keep the pressure. They're scared, and they should be.

Elon Musk Reportedly Doing Something Horrid to Power His AI Data Center
*snip*
New aerial surveillance footage obtained by the Southern Environmental Law Center has found that Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, is using 35 methane gas generators to power its "Colossus" supercomputer facility, the backbone of its flagship Grok. That's 20 more generators than the 15 xAI filed permits for, and 35 more than it was approved to use.
The data center, nestled in historic south Memphis, came online last September, despite protests from community leaders. AI data centers are notoriously loud, and hog water and electricity like a mid-sized American city. Case in point, the local utility company, Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) estimates the Memphis facility will soon be sucking up one million gallons of water per day, as well as 150 megawatts of power, once it reaches its full power.

Pentagon reaches historic settlement with LGBTQ veterans over discharge status
Source: NBC Out
The Defense Department agreed to a class-action settlement that may affect more than 35,000 LGBTQ veterans who were discharged because of their sexual orientation under dont ask, dont tell and similar earlier policies.
The agreement will allow veterans who received a less than honorable discharge because of their sexual orientation to be eligible for an immediate review and an upgrade to an honorable discharge. Veterans who received an honorable discharge but whose military discharge form, known as a DD-214, states that they separated from the military because of sexual orientation will now be able to have that characterization removed from the form in a matter of months.

Here is some local reporting on this topic by WFAA in Dallas
I think WFAA here in Dallas/Ft Worth actually first broke the story on last nights local news. But that really doesn't matter.
Here is the local news story from WFAA from last night.
https://www.wfaa.com/video/news/education/schools/keller-isd-book-ban-the-bible-anne-franks-diary-adaptation-among-those-pulled-from-libraries/287-a6412088-7b3b-4fe6-ae30-6997ccffe25d
One thing that I found really interesting, is that in the original broadcast, the story included a copy of the email sent out by the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Jennifer Price, which was at the end of Ms. Haws interview. A group of local parents, including Ms. Haws thoroughly reviewed the Anne Frank book in question, along with several other books, and they found no issue with them remaining on the shelves. But a group of radical right folk got onto the school board, and now this whole thing has fallen in to a regional and state controversy.
https://twitter.com/chron/status/1559917231785533440
One kicker of this whole order, is that a parent in Keller ISD wanted the Bible added. She withdraw her effort, only to have another parent pick it up. So now the Bible is currently banned as well. IMHO just as it should be.

Oh and one last thing. If you would like to voice your displeasure regarding this issue to Ms. Price, her school email address is Jennifer.Price@KellerISD.net
