Cumberland County officials received an email this week from the Trump campaign requesting highly specific details about the county’s ballot security.

The email, obtained by The Sentinel, went so far as to ask for the address and room numbers of ballot storage locations — and asking that the information be sent to the Gmail account of a Florida-based Trump operative.

County officials said they have not responded to the request and do not intend to, according to the county commissioners.

The Trump campaign described the request as “standard election transparency details,” but local officials find the implication — that the President’s campaign staff is harvesting election security plans through what appears to be a personal web-based email account — to be extremely concerning.

“It’s almost kind of chilling the sort of data they wanted us to provide,” Cumberland County Commissioner Gary Eichelberger said. “This is basically the whole security plan. We’ve never received a request of this detail and I find it troubling that one of the interested parties [in the election outcome] feels they have a right to information that obviously could jeopardize the security of the ballots.”

A group of demonstrators gathered outside a police station in Northwest D.C. Tuesday night seeking more information about a deadly accident involving a moped driver who crashed after police tried to pull him over.

Dustin Sternbeck, a D.C. police spokesman, said authorities were aware of a planned demonstration regarding the death of Karon Hylton.

Sternbeck said two windows were broken at the 4th District police station in the 6000 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Video posted by WUSA 9 showed several people jostling with police at the station door as they apparently tried to force their way into the building.

Police formed a line in front of the station as the demonstration continued.

Police said that due to demonstration activity, Georgia Avenue NW was closed between Rittenhouse Street and Missouri Avenue. Several side streets also were closed.

Protests are planned outside of the 4th District station Wednesday. In addition to BWC video, groups want officer’s names and the police report to be released. MPD doesn’t release reports for traffic fatalities, which is how Hylton’s death is currently classified @nbcwashington

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Oh. (WTOV) — Ohio Valley coal giant Robert "Bob" Murray died at his St. Clairsville home on Sunday. He was 80.

A spokesperson for the Murray family told NEWS9's Gage Goulding that Murray was surrounded by his family when he passed in the early morning hours.

Murray had been battling ongoing health conditions for several years. In 2016, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a disease found frequently in coal miners. The spokesperson said Murray's passing was not related to the coronavirus pandemic.

In mid-September, Murray Energy emerged from bankruptcy under a new name, American Consolidated Natural Resources.

Just a month later on October 19, Murray announced his retirement from ACNR.

‘Ongoing incident’ reported to have taken place onboard vessel south of Sandown

Police have confirmed an incident onboard a vessel off the Isle of Wight, following reports of an attempted hijacking of an oil tanker.

The incident is reported to have taken place onboard the Liberian-registered Nave Andromeda crude oil tanker south of Sandown, according to Isle of Wight Radio.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: “We are aware and dealing with an ongoing incident onboard a vessel which is situated south of the Isle of Wight.

“We will provide you with further updates when we are in a position to do so.”

SAO PAULO/BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazilian health authority Anvisa said on Wednesday that a volunteer in a clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca AZN.L and Oxford University had died but added that the trial would continue.

Oxford confirmed the plan to keep testing, saying in a statement that after careful assessment “there have been no concerns about safety of the clinical trial.” Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported that the volunteer had been given a placebo and not the trial vaccine, citing unnamed sources.

Anvisa provided no further details, citing medical confidentiality of those involved in trials.

AstraZeneca declined immediate comment.
