Indeed, those poll results are shocking when you see them.

A few quick points:

1. That poll question isn't, "Do you love Michael Bloomberg?"
2. Many of those of us who voted Bloomberg in that particular poll (as did I) tried to explain why we voted as we did.
3. My takeaway of that poll is that it illustrates the extreme risk-aversion many of us have to even the possibility of four more years of this president.

I will support ANY Democratic nominee.
I strongly supported Bernie in the 2016 primaries, but see things differently now.
Bloomberg is not my first choice.
Bloomberg can beat Trump.

Joe Biden could dismantle Trump's presidency.
Bloomberg could dismantle Trump's self-confidence (ego, narcissism, and generally his mind)

Trump would come unglued before our eyes.

This type of ad:

A thousand policy ads won't do to Trump what these 15 seconds will.

Very funny.

He missed one thing: Trump's father's voice is in Trump's head, and that's the button Bloomberg will be pushing the hardest.

Whoever the nominee is, I'm rolling up my sleeves and going all in.

The consumer is holding up our economy

We are a consumer-driven economy, so what we decide to do with that portion of our income that doesn't go to essentials is very important. As you suggest, this gives us more power than most of us recognize.

Our politicians don't fear us. I doubt they care about the marches. But if we implement our own "sanctions" in a strategic way, our outrage would be felt. Guarantee it.

Secondly, this economy will suffer eventually, one way or another. Personally, I would rather the "recession" begin on Trump's watch rather than under the watch of our next Democratic president.

Both have admirable qualities.

Steyer has been on Trump since day one.

I voted Bloomberg because of Bloomberg's unique social position and ability to get beneath Trump's skin like no other candidate. Bloomberg has exactly zero fear of Trump, and he knows where Trump's vulnerabilities are and is hitting them by subtly humiliating him. Trump would rather you fear or hate him than laugh at him. Bloomberg will be doing a lot of laughing. I'm hoping that through Bloomberg's ads we all learn where Trump's real vulnerabilities are and laugh at him as well rather than fear him (or, to put it more precisely, try to conceal our fear at least until november).

Secondly, Bloomberg has promised to support the Democratic nominee no matter who, and to throw his 1,000-person strong campaign machine (and all the data and research that comes with it) behind that candidate, in addition to the potentially billion + war chest.

"In God we trust. Everyone else bring data." - Bloomberg

We could use that data!

"Just remember, QAnon folks..."

U2, Keith Richards and Ziggy Marley - Love Rescue Me (live)

Love rescue me
Come forth and speak to me
Raise me up and don't let me fall
No man is my enemy
My own hands imprison me
Love rescue me

Many strangers have I met
On the road to my regret
Many lost who seek to find themselves in me
They ask me to reveal
The very thoughts they would conceal
Love rescue me

And the sun in the sky
Makes a shadow of you and I
Stretching out as the sun sinks in the sea
I'm here without a name
In the palace of my shame
Said, love rescue me

In the cold mirror of a glass
I see my reflection pass
See the dark shades of what I used to be
See the purple of her eyes
The scarlet of my lies
Love rescue me

Yeah, though I walk
In the valley of shadow
Yeah, I will fear no evil

I have cursed thy rod and staff
They no longer comfort me
Love rescue me

I said love
Climb up the mountains, said love
I said love, oh my love
On the hill of the son
I'm on the eve of a storm
And my word you must believe in
Oh, I said love, rescue me
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah...

Yeah I'm here without a name
In the palace of my shame
I said love rescue me

I've conquered my past
The future is here at last
I stand at the entrance
To a new world I can see
The ruins to the right of me
Will soon have lost sight of me
Love rescue me

Agree, especially if we couple protests to our own version of "sanctions."

If every Democrat and most Independents simply shut off the TV during the Super Bowl, ratings-obsessed Trump would notice that. He would take it personally because he'll be interviewed live during the Super Bowl.

Other suggestions, strategic, rolling boycotts. Not spending our disposable income so casually. And of course not watching the State of the Union address.

Bottom line: since the politicians no longer fear the people, the only recourse we have is economic damage.

I'll bet there are some great ideas floating around out there. This weekend I'll look around and see if anyone is organizing anything.
