Saviolo's JournalBreakfast oatmeal custard recipe
Going to be a short one! I'm traveling and doing this from my phone. This is a simple and hearty breakfast with oats and chia and lots of protein from the cream and eggs! Top it with whatever fresh, dried, or frozen fruit you like! You can also easily replace the honey with maple syrup.

Beef and Beet with Barley Stew Recipe
Temperatures are dropping, so it's time for nice warm soups and stews! This is a simple beef and beet stew that only uses two pots (or a pan and a pot). Takes a while to cook, but it definitely worth it. You can use any kind of decent stewing meat for this. We happened to have some amazing beef short ribs, but anything sold as stewing meat or anything that would take a low and slow cooking method will work just fine.
This recipe is amazing left over, but don't overdo it with the barley, or else it will be all that's left on the next day! Also, you can easily replace the chicken stock with beef stock or vegetable stock. Not much to add this week, I've got a pretty bad cold. Bleh!
Chick-fil-A UPDATE: backtracks, won't pledge to end donations to anti-LGBT charities
From Pink News: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/11/19/chick-fil-a-backtracks-anti-lgbt-donations/
However, after a backlash from anti-LGBT conservatives and Republicans, the company appears to have quietly backtracked.
In a statement to Vice, Chick-fil-A President and COO Tim Tassopoulos refused to confirm the company would not donate to groups that oppose LGBT+ rights. He said: No organisation will be excluded from future considerationfaith-based or non-faith-based.
A statement on the Chick-fil-A Foundation website said it was happy and proud of its 2018 donations, which include Christian organisations that discriminate against LGBT+ people.
Well, that didn't last long.
Simple Homemade Chili Hot Oil Recipe
This simple recipe is for a condiment you frequently see on the table at Chinese restaurants. It is dead easy, and makes a delicious flavoured oil for all sorts of uses. We fancy ours up rather a lot with a bunch of different spices, but of course you can make plain hot oil with just the mashed-up pepper pods. If you want it hotter, leave the seeds in!
As far as I'm concerned, the sesame seeds are non-negotiable, but you can easily make this your own by adding or removing spices. Ours bears a passing resemblance to the flavour profile of Chinese 5-spice powder, and those ground-up Szechuan peppercorns add a really nice floral note.
Also: I wanted to say thanks again for everyone who watches, likes, and shares our videos! We just passed 1500 subscribers on YouTube, and we feel like we've managed to introduce a few people to some fun new recipes. Thanks!!
How far is too far for Don Cherry?
Full article here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/article-how-far-is-too-far-for-don-cherry/
In his statement posted on Sunday to the Twitter account of Sportsnet PR, Yabsley seemed as stunned as Capt. Renault: Dons discriminatory comments are offensive and they do not represent our values and what we stand for as a network. We have spoken with Don about the severity of this issue and we sincerely apologize for these divisive remarks.
Cherrys apologies have been rare and usually made only under extreme pressure sometimes of the legal variety. On the opening night of the 2011-12 season, Cherry laced into three former NHL enforcers, calling them pukes and hypocrites, for suggesting the leagues fighting culture of which Cherry is the greatest cheerleader had caused the substance-abuse problems of fellow tough guys. It took more than a week, and the threat of a lawsuit from the three former players, before Cherry apologized.
On Sunday night, almost 24 hours after his you people comments, nobody had yet heard from Cherry. But his sidekick, Ron MacLean, who had sat in silence during Cherrys rant and then concluded the segment with an oddly robotic thumbs-up, offered an earnest apology that included references to Canadas Indigenous peoples.
Opening the broadcast of Rogers Hometown Hockey, of which he is the host, MacLean told viewers that Cherrys remarks were hurtful, discriminatory [and] flat-out wrong.
We know diversity is the strength of the country. We see it in the travels with our show, and with Hockey Night in Canada. So I owe you an apology, too, he said. I sat there, did not catch it, did not respond. Kathryn Teneese of Ktunaxa First Nation once said, in any wrongdoing, the real key is recognition and acknowledgment. I wanted to let you know that first and then you work on the relationship, so that it isnt divisive, so that something can be a unifying event. Idle No More was a great lesson to all of us. Last night was a really great lesson to Don and me. We were wrong, and I sincerely apologize, and I wanted to thank you for calling me and Don on that last night.
Don has such a history of saying shitty things, they didn't even have to reference his "commie pinko" rant about Toronto cyclists when he was stumping for Rob Ford. Further proof that cancel culture just isn't a thing for well-known media personalities. They get to just keep coming back and coming back.
Don, your 15 minutes were up years ago.
Vegan Apple Carrot Oat Breakfast Mini Muffins Recipe
Okay, that's a lot of words to describe something pretty simple. This is an easy and delicious breakfast muffin that is dense with nutrients and extremely delicious. It is also vegan, and we didn't even add any sugar to ours, because the apple we used was so sweet, as well as the apple cider.
These muffins aren't like the big poofy muffins with muffin-tops you typically find, but they do get some nice loft from the baking soda and baking powder, and they are quite dense, and will sustain you through the morning. You can make them a little bigger, but you may want to cook them a little longer. You can, of course, change a number of things in this recipe. Replace carrots with zucchini, replace apple with pear, change the spice mix, change the raisins for cranberries or dried cherries, this is a very versatile recipe. Just remember not to over-mix, and once it's mixed, don't let it sit around before baking!
