warms my heart to hear this

It's sad that the enemy is inside the house.

There is an unholy and corrupt relationship between the leadership of the forest service and the timber industry.

Glad to see at least one victory.

We've had 23 years to regret that "reasonableness"

That case was one of the reasons I became an actual Democrat rather than an Independent that voted exclusively Democratic.

Thanks

Thought she looked familiar.

WTF?

RICO Suave? You’ve done this before? Oops, I shouldn’t have said that?

Performance art?

Absolutely true

The decision was marked with that disclaimer.

In any other country there would have been riots in the streets. But in our strangely politically inert nation nothing happened (at least in part because Gore discouraged any violent reaction).

The Right Wing Judicial Playbook

Just make shit up and ultimately the entire judicial system and the laws that undergird it will collapse under the weight of the absurdity of the farcical reasoning advanced in the service of tyranny.

The seeds of this were sown in 2000 when the SC just handed a presidency to George W Bush based on the harm that would be done to Bush if a full recount was performed in key counties in Florida.

The decision made no legal sense because the damage (harm) forecast to be done to Bush was the loss of the election. Given that elections are designed to identify winners and losers to advance a ruling like this set judicial reasoning on its head.

Now this kind of fictional reasoning seems to be the right wing norm.

Trump is going to release a report with incontrivertible evidence that the 2020 election was stolen?

After 62 tries or more, that saw many courts swiftly reject the suits filed contending that the 2020 presidential was stolen because of a complete lack of evidence.

These suits suffered from numerous defects that included a complete lack of standing, but mainly suffered from a complete lack of evidence.

The right wing has a reality problem--they believe that if they say it, then it is true. This has deformed public policy and poisoned the political environment.

We have, over the decades, lurched from baseless beliefs that cutting taxes will create such an explosion if economic activity that federal tax receipts would go up to simple accusations being regarded as true because some anonymous online poster called Q said it.

By the time we got to the 2020 presidential elections the environment was ripe for the Trumpists to claim that the election was fraudulent before the election was held and for millions of our fellow citizens to immediately believe this. This is the modern day equivalent of if-it-is-printed-then-it-must-be-true". If someone says it must be true.

I've been surprised to find out that, as a Democrat, I'm a baby-eating, blood draining, adrenochrome seeking , groomer pedophile. I'm also a Marxist fascist socialist communist.

It is the norm now for wide swaths of the right wing to immediately believe whatever it is that they want to believe today...because someone said it.

But, this stuff keeps running into the rock of reality. That which is not true will stubbornly remain not true.

Saying it is so doesn't make it so.

Trump lost the election because he just wasn't that popular. He also ran a crappy, issue-less campaign that tried to ignore that the Covid catastrophe happened on his watch. He lost. He lost because his material was old and stale. He very much was hoisted on his own petard. He made the election into a reality television spectacle in 2016. That reality turned out to be an ugly, grinding nightmare. By 2020, a large portion of those who voted for him, were sick of it and went back into real election mode.

When he released his cloud of flying monkeys to challenge Biden's victory they flew without anything in their claws--except often insane contentions of mass voter fraud in multiple key states: Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Pennsylvania... But there was no evidence. Everything that was presented was quickly shot down (especially the "smoking gun" video evidence). I won't summarize the whole debacle. But it was the biggest ongoing lawsuit debacle in the history of the nation. Maybe someone has filed that many cases and lost them all, but I'm not aware of it.

But when it was over Trump was 0 for 62. Courts are generally pretty well addicted to reality and won't rule on fantasy (not withstanding a federal judge in Amarillo).

So, here we go again?

If he hasn't presented this evidence by now, why?

This is going to blow up in his face bigly.

This is the permanently crazy %

These are the ignorant medievalists who would fit right in with the people in the year 1000. Fearful and angry and utterly without thought. They’ll hew to anyone that tells them that they are strong and vicious and willing to kill and torture anyone that has been deemed the enemy.

They have always been here and always will be here. Only a strong, well managed government can keep them at bay.

Like that!

Yep

Absolutely hate it.
