And this time, that failure endangers us all.
A Texas megachurch whose leaders have linked vaccines to autism is now asking its members to get immunizations or stay quarantined after an outbreak of measles was traced to the congregation.
Instead of her normal sermon on Sunday, Eagle Mountain International Church Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons was forced to spend the majority of her time explaining how the congregation should react to the news that all of the 11 measles cases in Tarrant County had been linked to members or visitors of the church.
You are more than enough, Jesus, you are more than enough! Pearsons began. Youre more than enough for any need we have. More than enough, Jesus. For things known and unknown, Jesus, you are more than enough. Can you shout, amen?
Were going to talk about some things affecting our church, and as we go through it, we remain steadfast that Jesus is more than enough, she told the congregation. There has been a confirmed case of the measles from the Tarrant County Public Health Department. And that is a really big deal in that America, the United States has been essentially measles free for I think its 10 years. And so when measles pops up anywhere else in the United States, the health department well, you know, it excites them.
Pearsons went on to say that the church was offering free vaccination clinics, and urged those who did not attend to quarantine themselves at home for two weeks.

Christian Entertainer Serving 20 Years After Getting Caught Planning To Eat Kids
What. The. Fuck.
It's been a long-running meme from Christians that it's the Atheists that eat babies. More projection, I guess.
Most anyone reading this blog is likely familiar with the many so-called sexual sins that the more batshit contingent of the Christian community in this nation is constantly trumpeting about. You probably also know that, usually, the louder they protest, the more they have to hide. This situation is no different, though it is, quite possibly, the sickest I have ever written about.
Ronald William Brown of Largo, Florida, regularly used his successful Christian childrens show to warn kids about the evils and dangers of pornography. He does it in a most creative way- with the aid of a puppet that can only be described as the creepiest thing Ive ever seen aimed at kids. For a sample of what fans of this man have been subjecting their children to, heres the video:
That isnt the worst of it, though. Gawker reports that Brown was just sentenced to 20 years in prison for possession of child pornography. He was allegedly involved in a conspiracy to kidnap, cook, and eat a child with a man named Michael Arnett, whom he met through the Gulf Coast Church. According to investigators on the case, Brown and Arnett had a specific child in mind for these disturbing plans.
Brown says that he never intended to actually act out his online fantasies in real life, but they were disturbing enough for authorities to take action. Brown allegedly said in one of his internet chats with Arnett:
I imagine him wiggling and then going still.

FFRF, ACLU to settle with Ohio school Re: Jesus picture
Details of the global settlement of the issues will be released once they are approved by U.S. District Judge Algenon Marbley and by a probate court. Two of the plaintiffs are minors. The parties must file their settlement before the district court within 90 days.
Defendants are the Jackson City School District and Board of Education and Superintendent Phil Howard.
FFRF and the ACLU filed the suit Feb. 6 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio after FFRF sent an initial letter of complaint Jan. 2 to Howard, who stated it would take a court order to remove the picture. - See more at: http://ffrf.org/news/news-releases/item/18115-portrait-of-jesus-displayed-at-middle-school#sthash.nVSaTf4n.dpuf
Seems like the tide is starting to turn on cases like this. The FFRF is doing some amazing work and making the world a better, more inclusive place, simply by reminding schools, school boards, City councils, etc., that these things (like a picture of jesus mounted at the entrance to a school) are Unconstitutional. Most are seeing the legal issues and removing/dealing with the problem, where fewer and fewer are willing to defend their actions in court.
The FFRF is the "common ground" many here like to talk about. Consider supporting them, won't you?
Files released showing Vatican, Dolan, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, et al PROTECTED child-rapers.
The ENTIRE RCC is complicit in this. There is no longer any denying the extent to which the Catholic Church went to protect itself by protecting and enabling CHILD-RAPERS. Sorry, my Catholic friends, there is no longer any way for you to justify your continued patronage to this terrible, evil organization. IMO, any contribution you make to this horrible institution, be it your time, your money, or your butt in a pew, makes you part of the problem.
For all the alleged good one may be able to cite in other efforts of the Catholic Church, none of it even BEGINS to balance the scales. Justice begins with YOU. Will you stay and stand with your church or will you leave it to rot in the name of justice?

Documents show Milwaukee archdiocese shielded pedophile priests
By Brendan O'Brien and Geoffrey Davidian, Reuters
Roman Catholic Church officials in Milwaukee vigorously shielded pedophile priests and protected church funds from lawsuits during a decades-long sex abuse scandal, according to hundreds of newly released documents.
The documents include letters and deposition testimony from Cardinal and Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan who, during his time as archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009, appealed to Vatican on numerous occasions to help address the ongoing fallout from the scandal.
The 6,000 pages of documents related to eight decades of abuse cases showed in great detail the Milwaukee archdiocese regularly reassigned priests who were accused of sexual molestation to new parishes and Dolan himself asking the Vatican permission to transfer $57 million to a trust fund to protect it against court action.
In 2011, the Milwaukee archdiocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing the financial drain of settling sexual-abuse claims and acknowledging missteps by the church in dealing with pedophile priests.
The judge overseeing the archdiocese's bankruptcy ordered the documents to be released.
